Abstract: Vanes of the type for directing a fluid radially are fabricated by forming the vanes integrally to a support structure made from a sacrificial material which is removed in assembly so that the vanes are supported for operative use. In one embodiment, the vanes are formed in the dams of an annular burner by preforming the vanes supported to a disk; the vanes and disk apparatus is fitted to side plates which are then brazed together and the disk portion and complementary side plate portions are removed, for defining the dam that is affixed to the liner of the annular combustor. Other configurations are contemplated that are tailored to fit the intended embodiment. The vane and support portion made from a sacrificial material constitute an apparatus of this invention.

Abstract: An interior splined member is a hollow cylinder with an interior cylindrical surface defining a through hole. A major portion of the axial length of the interior cylindrical surface is splined to provide alternating axially extending ribs and troughs disposed between the ribs. A ring-shaped residual portion is an unsplined portion, i.e., a minor portion of the axial length of the interior cylindrical surface and is substantially circular with a diameter that is equal to or smaller than that of a circle on which the distal ends (tips) of the ribs lie. The trough portions are open at one end of the cylindrical member, while closed by the ring-shaped residual portion at the other end of the cylindrical member.

Abstract: A groove processing method capable of smoothly processing a groove on a rod that has been subjected to a hardening treatment without a substantial degradation in strength is provided. A pair of straightening rollers is mounted at each side of rolling rollers mounted on respective rotating shafts of a rolling machine with spacers disposed between the straightening and rolling rollers. A rod is previously subjected to a hardening treatment, for example, high-frequency induction hardening and tempering, or carbulizing & quenching and tempering, so that the surface hardness is not less than 400 Hv. A groove is formed on the rod by rolling using the rolling rollers, thereby allowing a surface hardening layer to be left on the bottom of the groove. At the same time, the rod is held by the straightening rollers to prevent bending of the rod.

The combination of sub-pixels, when viewed, appears to have a bit-depth greater than the bit-depth of the content display unit material.

Abstract: A novel point-of-purchase cantilevered deflectable display assembly which normally extends transversely into a shopping aisle, is disclosed. The disclosed display assembly accommodates substitution of one frame-carried form or configuration of advertising for another, which can be radically different, without disconnecting the entire display assembly from its mounting to a molding at a store shelf or like. The advertising frame with which the advertising medium is associated is removably connected to a distal hanger member. At least one light is carried by the frame. The distal hanger member accommodates the above-mentioned on-site frame and advertisement removal and exchange, while the remainder of the display assembly remains in its shelf-mounted or like position.

Abstract: One embodiment of a reusable gas grenade canister comprises a body defining an interior space. The body has a plate which is removable so that a gas grenade may be placed into an interior space of the body. A spike extends from the body, the spike defining a flow path for gas to flow from the interior space to a point remote from the body. In one embodiment, a baffle is located inside the body over an opening leading to a passage through the spike which defines the flow path. A swing arm is connected to the body, as is a ram pad.

Abstract: The present invention is a non-integral firearm safety lock that is inserted into a firearm's firing chamber ejector and loading port, expands and locks, thus prevents the weapon from being fired. The non-integral firearm safety lock is designed to fit most open chamber firearms. Once the firearm safety lock is inserted into the firearm's open chamber a key is used to expand a locking plate that is forced downward, fills and seals the loading port which disables the weapon. The distinct difference of this particular safety device from other safety devices is that it is user friendly and takes only seconds to install and remove. The non-integral firearm safety lock, when installed, fits flush with the weapon's frame that greatly enhances the cosmetic appearance of a firearm. The non-integral firearm safety lock is easy to manufacture and is inexpensive.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a biological method for aerobically treating whey using mushroom mycelia wherein the whey can be biologically treated at a disposal rate comparable to conventional methods. According to the method, since environmentally unfriendly sludge is not discharged, post-treatment operations in connection with the disposal of sludge can be simplified. Therefore, the method can lower environmental costs and further enables the economical cultivation of mushroom mycelia. Furthermore, the method has an advantage in terms of resource recycling.
