Abstract: A protective garment of the type typically worn by fire fighters with improved water resistance is disclosed. In particular, the present invention is directed to an outer shell material for protective garments that is made from a fire resistant material coated with a durable water resistant coating. The durable water resistant coating is applied to the outer shell in a manner so that the coating will not degrade when exposed to normal wear and tear and even after the garment has been laundered repeatedly. Protective garments constructed in the past typically lost most of their water repellency after being laundered as little as five cycles. It has been discovered that water resistant coatings applied according to the process of the present invention, on the other hand, can survive at least 30 laundry cycles, and in many applications at least 50 laundry cycles without significantly degrading.

Abstract: This invention entitled “Cantilevered limited mobility bench toilet and commode” is a healthcare device intended for use by persons with either temporary or permanent limited mobility who possess full use of the upper body and upper extremities. This invention is intended as an intermediary device between the bedside commode where use of lower extremities permits walking, and the bedpan where a person is immobile or requires the help of an attendant. This unique invention is essentially a toilet or commode which does not require the user to stand or sit independently, and there is no need to turn round in order to use it. By eliminating the need to be able to stand and turn this invention minimizes the risk of falling. Additionally, this toilet and commode is not limited solely to bedside use, wheelchairs, walkers, or modification as a traditionally plumbed ADA compliant toilet.

This invention takes a different approach to the mounting requirements for the system hardware. Most notable, the right and left flanged side plates are attached directly to the bottom of the spa frame, thus negating the necessity to drill holes for mounting screws in the side of the spa or holes for mounting screws in the concrete base. Many spa purchasers object to the drilling of these holes. This invention provides a reasonable solution to these problems.

Abstract: The present invention provides a bathing aid, which is reduced in size and does not occupy a large space when not used, and which significantly reduces the workload on caregivers. In an embodiment of the invention, a bathtub 12 is supported by a movable unit 14 that vertically moves by the driving power of a motor and by rollers 13 running on a guide slope 15. When not used, the bathtub 12 is stored under a tank 11 in a close to upright position, so that the bathing aid occupies only a small space when not used. To use the bathing aid, the movable unit 14 is lowered and, accordingly, the rollers 13 roll down the guide slope 15. With this motion, the bathtub 12 changes its orientation from a position where the open top of the bathtub 12 is directed obliquely forward to a position where the open top is directed almost upward. The bathtub 12 is automatically driven by the electrical driving power of the motor; the caregiver has only to make some key operations.

The cot frame includes a pair of side extension arms provided between the leading end and the trailing end, each of the side extension arms being adapted to slidably extend outwardly from a stowed position adjacent the cot frame to an extended position substantially perpendicular to the cot frame. The cot frame may form a part of an integral stretcher or may serve as a carrier to which a separable top structure, such as a stretcher/stair chair, may be detachably secured, the cot frame including seats for slidably receiving the top structure and latching means for securing the top structure to the cot frame.

Abstract: A multipurpose hand-held implement, comprising at least two components which can be locked in a closed position and then form a compact, essentially closed body, in the case of which the two components, with preferably confluent contours, are directed towards one another. In the closed position, the body forms the handle for actuating utensils, such as a knife, staple remover or cutter, which are accommodated in the components in a set-back manner, such that they can be pushed out. The two components are preferably connected to one another in an articulated manner and, after release of the locking means, can be moved relative to one another in order to actuate, for example, a stapler, a hole puncher or a pair of scissors. Further utensils, for example a magnifying glass, a pointer or a laser pointer may be accommodated in the components.
