Abstract: An apparatus for shielding a human eye of a patient while allowing the human eye contact with the air. A lens of the apparatus is fashioned to one or both of the eyes and is optically clear and optically correct in that it does not distort the patient's vision. The optically correct aspect of the lens is achieved by either polishing a mold for the lens or alternatively, by die-cutting the lens from an optically correct material. The lens may be held in place by an adjustable strap. A plurality of vents to allow the eye contact with the air are a plurality of apertures in the lens or a plurality of spaces or holes in a cushioning structure, where the cushioning structure is coupled to the perimeter of the surface of the lens facing the eye.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for scrubbing a substrate's edge. The apparatus comprises a stationary surface (i.e., a surface that does not rotate in a direction in which the substrate rotates) that is positioned so as to contact an edge (e.g., a circumferential edge, an edge portion of the substrate's major surface or a beveled surface of the substrate's edge) such that as the substrate rotates, a dragging force is generated between the stationary surface and the rotating substrate. In a preferred aspect the apparatus is adapted to support a substrate in a generally vertical orientation, and the stationary surface is positioned along a lower portion of the substrate's edge, such that fluid applied to the major surface of the substrate will flow onto, and thereby rinse, the stationary surface. Such a preferred configuration also may allow a substrate to be loaded and unloaded without needing to move the stationary surface.

Abstract: A brush roll comprising a roll shaft; first brush filling material comprising either of a single yarn of a filament having a diameter of 0.1-2.0 mm and a collective fiber comprising 3-56 filaments made into a bundle; and second brush filling material comprising 100-3,000 filaments having a diameter of 0.005-0.05 mm made into a bundle, the first brush filling material and the second brush filling material being so arranged around an outside surface of the roll shaft that they can be distributed in such a relation as to be mixed with each other.

Abstract: A mechanical cleaning system for transparent material has a separate element on each side of the transparent material and adjacent one another. At least one of the elements is a magnet and the other element is a metal. At least one of the elements has a cleaning material between its respective element and the transparent material. Movement of one of the elements moves the other element and cleans a surface of the transparent material. In the preferred embodiment where cleaning material is on both of the elements, both of the opposed surfaces of the transparent material are simultaneously cleaned by urging one of the elements across the transparent material.

Abstract: A multi-use tool device is provided with an actuator that is moveable to turn a tool relative to the tool device to change the angle of attack of the tool to the work or to change to a different work surface on the fool. Further, the tool device is releasably connected to the tool without the use of threaded fasteners or wrenches. An actuator on the tool is moved to release the tool and preferably to push the tool from the tool device so that the user need not touch a dirty or spent tool that may be coated with an adhesive, mastic or the like. Conversely, the tool may be attached by pushing the tool relative to the tool device. Also, the preferred tool is made in one piece with a connecting portion and a turning portion thereon. The illustrated tool has an upstanding post and angularly spaced teeth that cooperate with the tool device to allow the connected tool to be turned relative to the tool body.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for applying solder paste to circuits, such as integrated circuits, are disclosed. The apparatus and methods comprise a squeegee blade having a pair of elongated face sides spaced apart by a selected thickness and a corresponding pair of elongated substantially parallel narrow sides spaced apart by a selected width. The elongated face sides and elongated narrow sides join together to form squeegee operating edges. The squeegee blade is free of mounting aperture as to provide four operating edges. The squeegee blade is mounted to a resilient clamping structure which applies a regular and controlled gripping force so as to avoid deformation of the squeegee blade edge due to excessive mounting force. The plurality of fasteners are received by the clamping structure for adjusting the gripping force to the squeegee blade.
