Abstract: A pilot's glove includes a first material piece for covering a hand front side and a second material piece for covering a hand rear side. The first and second material pieces have edges by which the first and second material pieces are connected to one another to forma seam which lies on a rear side of the hand when the glove is worn, so that the fingertips are free of seams and all seams lie on the hand rear side. The front side and rear side each have a hydrophobic and oleophobic finish for protection against chemical warfare agents.

Abstract: An adjustable baseball or sports type hat is disclosed having an adjustable circumferential portion along the bottom of the crown. A visor may be attached to the front portion of the crown. At least two, but eventually four, two-part adjustment clasps are affixed near each temple of the crown to alter the size of the circumferential portion of the crown. Preferably, the adjustment clasps are hidden when adjusted for the wearer. This is accomplished by embedding one part of the adjustment clasp in or from a detachable flap, which can be created by leaving a part of adjacent triangular sections unsewn. The other part of the clasp is attached to the adjacent crown section, near the visor zone or front.

Abstract: A device is provided for attachment to the existing snap portions on a helmet such as a motorcycle helmet. Design elements are presented on a display member, and in some embodiments the display member extends across several helmet snap portions. One embodiment incorporates helmet accessories, such as visors, while still providing the outward presentation of the design elements on the display member.

Abstract: Swimming goggles comprising a rigid frame (2) for supporting a pair of glass-shaped transparent members (1), each formed by a flat lens (1a) and a flanged bush (1b) for the connection to the frame, the bush being made of a mouldable thermoplastic material. The flat lenses are made of a plastic material different from that of the bushes and having a softening temperature higher than that of the material of the bushes and no-mist and/or no-scratch properties. The lenses are perimetrically fixed to the bushes within grooves (6) formed on the respective bushes.

Abstract: A goggle comprising a lens, frame, lens-retention mechanism and adjustment mechanism. The lens can be selectively moved relative to the frame to at least two different positions defining substantially different levels of air flow between the lens and frame while maintaining the lens in front of a user's eyes, and retained at each position. One position is defined by substantially all the lens periphery contacting the frame to substantially form a seal. Other positions are defined by substantially all the lens periphery not contacting the frame wherein ambient air flows uninhibited across the inside surface of the lens. The lens-retention mechanism comprises a post and detent, while the adjustment mechanism comprises various mechanisms, for example a rack and pinion, a lever or a rack and pawl that biases the lens to one of the other positions. The adjustment and lens-retention mechanisms may be the same mechanism.

Abstract: A foot-operated toilet flushing device for flushing a toilet with your foot. The foot-operated toilet flushing device includes an actuator assembly for mounting to a floor. The actuator assembly is positioned adjacent to a front portion of a toilet to facilitate operation of the actuator assembly by a foot of a user. A pivot assembly mounts to the floor. The pivot assembly is positioned adjacent to a rear portion of the toilet to facilitate the operation of a flush lever of the toilet. A linkage assembly operationally couples the actuator assembly, the pivot assembly, and the flush lever together. Actuation of the actuator assembly by the foot of the user moves the linkage assembly through the pivot assembly to operate the flush lever.

Abstract: The present invention is a novel and unique spill proof portable spittoon cup device. The device is comprised of a cup like container and a snap-on lid. The container includes an open top and a closed bottom. The closed bottom of the cup also features a separate storage component for snuff or the like. In addition, the device of the present invention is comprised of a separate snap-on lid. The snap-on lid is formed to be removably secure the lid to the top of the cup like container and incorporates a folding spout which passes therethrough and into the cup like container. A check valve float on the cup like container located on the container side of the snap-on lid is designed and configured to allow fluid into the cup while also providing for air to be relieved out through the check valve float.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing a secondary source of water upstream of a standard flushometer-type valve. The adapter comprises a water inlet, a primary outlet for supplying water to the flush valve and respectively to the toilet, and a secondary outlet for providing a source of water which may be used to rinse out bed pans in the vicinity of the toilet. The water flow to the secondary outlet is independent of that to the primary outlet, providing for less waste of water during use of the secondary source.

Abstract: A portable toilet shelter for providing complete privacy for a user having to use an outdoor toilet. Abstract: A vertically adjustable spa cover assembly includes a cover movable above a spa between a raised position and a lowered position, the raised position being vertically above the lowered position. Lifts are used to raise and lower the cover. The cover assembly may also include a screen that surrounds the area between the cover and the spa. The lifts are threaded sections including rods and pipes which engage one another and move up and down as one or more of these threaded sections are rotated by a power source such as a motor or hand crank. The power source may engage the threaded sections through gears or sprockets, or less directly via a system of sprockets and a chain which drives the sprockets and the threaded sections in turn. Alternately, the lifts may be telescoping members pneumatically or hydraulically powered. The cover assembly may be built into a spa unit or added as a retrofit component.

Abstract: A water level controller for a pool has a water level sensor immersed in the pool. A processor detects if the sensor senses low water. A transmitter sends a radio frequency signal to a receiver if the processor detects the low water. The receiver turns on a valve to add water to the pool. The transmitter and processor are contained in a waterproof housing. A main power switch is located internally in the housing, and moves between on and off positions by inverting the housing. A wave filter timer within the processor turns on for a selected interval when the processor detects low water. The receiver has an overfill counter that turns on for a selected interval when the receiver receives the low water signal. The receiver resets the overfill counter prior to reaching the selected count each time that the receiver receives a low water signal.

Abstract: A modular faucet assembly is configured for installation upon a conventional sink top having left and right hot and cold water control valve passages and a central faucet assembly passage. The present modular assembly includes a single, central faucet and mixer control valve, with all water lines extending through the central sink top passage and the left and right sink top passages remaining free of any water supply lines. The present assembly makes use of these otherwise unused passages by having left and right faucet base passages which align with the corresponding sink top passages, and serve to secure the faucet assembly to the sink top and accept various accessories removably installed therein. The accessories may comprise a liquid soap dispenser pump, a retractable spray nozzle, or other device(s) as desired. A cap(s) may be installed at the accessory passage(s) when no accessory or accessories are installed.

Abstract: A tub and shower valve assemble including a valve having a housing with an outwardly opening cup-like socket. A removable cartridge having an outwardly extending operating stem is installed in the cup-like socket. A plaster ground is provided for mounting the valve on a supporting wall structure. An escutcheon assembly is positioned over the valve housing and is removably attached to the plaster ground and to the valve housing and cartridge for removal and replacement of the cartridge. A transparent overlay is applied to the escutcheon with graphics and operating indicia applied to the underside of the overlay.

Abstract: A convertible couch bed that consists of a frame (20) that has a pair of opposed ends (22) with each end having a horizontal upper surface (24), an arm (26) and a plurality of legs (28). A mattress support structure (34) is positioned between the ends and sustained by the lower longitudinal supports and a mattress (36) is positioned on the support structure forming a comfortable seat for sitting on the front portion. An upholstered top (38) covers the rear portion of the mattress and is attached to the frame with a piano hinge (44). An upholstered back (48) is attached to the top allowing the back to fold upward in accordion fashion and rest upon the frame thereby permitting conversion of the couch into a bed by exposing the entire mattress therefore forming a bed suitable for sleeping.

The connecting link is connected between the actuator and the lifting arm (or mast) such that an auxiliary link incorporating a load cell can be additionally and removably connected between the actuator and the lifting arm (or mast) and such that any load applied to the lifting arm is transmitted entirely through the auxiliary link.

Abstract: A mobile invalid hoist comprises a non-rectilinear lifting arm pivotably connected about first horizontal axis to the upper end of mast, a housing pivotably connected about second horizontal axis to one end of the lifting arm and supporting a vertical bearing, a sling hanger support pivotably supported about a vertical or substantially vertical axis by the bearing, and a sling hanger pivotably supported about a third horizontal axis by the sling hanger support. A flexible elongate element is connected between the mast and housing, and is guided through the lifting arm to effectively form with the lifting arm a parallelogram linkage. Thus, as the lifting arm pivots, the housing pivots in relation to the lifting arm and the bearing is kept vertical or substantially vertical.

The supports allow the blanket to be raised a specified distance above the person lying under the blanket. When the person releases the blanket, the blanket returns to its original position, lying over the person.

One of the locking members is adapted to lockingly engage a locking member attached to the padded face rest, and the other locking member is adapted to lockingly engage a locking member attached to the face rest attachment frame. A locking rod extends through the mid-portion of all of the cantilever plates. A cam clamp is attached to an end of the locking rod and, upon rotation, causes the plates of each cantilever member to be pulled towards each other to thereby lockingly engage adjacent locking members.

Abstract: A fire retardant mattress, sofa cushion and pillow has a foam base which is covered by a fire barrier material. A ticking covers the fire barrier material. Sheets of these combined materials are formed into a top, a bottom and sidewalls for the mattress. The intersecting planar surfaces are formed as a flange which is sandwiched between a fire-retardant treated edge binding tape. The flange is sewn with a fire retardant thread to encapsulate the mattress with fire retardant components.

Abstract: A patient support structure including a unit having at least two defined shaped zones (30, 32) inflatable from a deflated condition in order to modify the topography of the support. One of the zones (30) is larger than the other (32) so that inflation of the larger zone lifts a patient to one side (towards the smaller zone 32) and the inflated smaller zone supports the patient and prevents the patient from slipping off the support structure. In a more preferred embodiment, the support structure comprises two units, each having at least two defined shaped inflatable zones (30, 32), the larger zone 30 of each unit being in opposed configuration and the units being inflatable independently of one another so that a patient can be lifted to one side or the other side according to which unit is inflated.

The folding multi-tool is foldable between a closed, compact configuration and an opened, extended configuration for operating the pliers and in the opened, extended configuration the open sides of the handles face each other.

Abstract: A striking tool is provided for interlocking with a bar-like tool having a fork end and/or a pike end. The striking tool uses two retaining features for retaining a bar-like tool. The pike can be replaced by or supplemented with an adz, or any other type of extrusion. The bar-like tool is preferably a halligan. The striking tool is preferably an axe having a handle and a striking head anchored to the handle. Both of the bar-like-tool retaining features are located on the handle. The two tools are detachably interlocked for storage or carrying purposes. The present invention is especially useful in the firefighting field.

Abstract: A method is provided for estimating the time required to perform an operational cycle of an appliance, the cycle including at least one variable operational mode. The method includes providing a memory for storing historical data of previously executed cycles of the appliance, accessing the memory in light of a user-selected option for a present cycle, and computing an initial estimated time for performing the present cycle of the appliance based, at least in part, on a time estimate for the at least one operational mode. The method continues with determining an actual time used for performing at least one occurrence of the operational mode, relating the actual time used to the time estimate used for computing the initial estimated time for performing the present cycle of the appliance, and adjusting the initial estimated time for performing the present cycle in light of any differences between the actual and estimated times for the at least one operational mode.

Abstract: For facilitating the passage of wheelchair users over door thresholds it is known to lay out ramp elements across the threshold, this however being an expensive solution even implying that the door cannot be closed. The invention provides for a ramp set suited to be laid out at both sides of the threshold so as to leave the top side thereof uncovered, whereby the door can still be opened and closed. The ramp construction is modular based on the use of light, joinable plastic tile elements of ordinary shape and wedge shape, respectively, and this makes it possible to build up non-costly, tailored ramp constructions in more general, with an associated possibility of reusing the tile elements.

The lower section includes a bristle brush with an attachment fitting for threadably coupling with the lower section. A protective boot of the bellows type has opposite ends secured to the upper section and the lower section respectively and encloses the compressible coil spring.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning and polishing products, including fruits and vegetables, in which the product is placed in a specially constructed cleaning bag and oscillated. The rolling motion of the product cleans and polishes the surfaces of the product. The bag has a lining especially selected for the purpose and is designed for occasional replacement of the lining or temporary removal for cleaning purposes. In one embodiment, the bag features an elastic section that accommodates various sizes of loads.

Abstract: A wiper device has a pair of pivot holders each of which supports a pivot shaft and a pipe frame that connects the pivot holders to each other. When each pivot holder is fitted in an end of the pipe frame, the pipe frame is subjected to caulking to engage the pipe frame with recesses that are formed in the surfaces of the pivot holders. Each recess is shaped and located such that the open angle of the recess is constantly greater than zero and equal to or greater than the shaft angle of the corresponding pivot shaft, as viewed along any cross-sectional plane that includes a normal line corresponding to a maximum depth portion of the recess. As a result, the pivot holders are secured to the pipe frame easily and reliably, and the pivot holders are manufactured with a reduced cost.

Abstract: The vehicular door hinge of the present invention facilitates both forward and rearward swinging door motion. The present invention achieves this objective by reversing the orientation of the door component portion of the hinge within the body component portion of the hinge. An integrated door stop is incorporated into the body component. The integrated door stop further includes non-parallel stop surfaces that abut the door component's geometry in both the conventional and reversed configurations to give the desired opening angles. As a result, the present invention allows for different uses from the same components where a first predetermined angle may be achieved or a second predetermined angle may be achieved with different swing directions.

Abstract: A dual spacing clamp tie includes a rotatable locking head and two flexible straps extending outwardly in opposite directions from the locking head. The straps are insertable through the locking head to form two, spaced loops that can be used to secure items in spaced, parallel relationship to each other. A pair of releasable pawls in the locking head secures the straps around the items to be secured. An aperture may be provided through the locking head or adjacent the locking head for securing the dual spacing clamp tie to a mounting structure such as a threaded stud. An additional pawl mechanism may be provided within the aperture to secure the clamp tie to the mounting stud. Alternatively, a nut or other fastener may be used to secure the clamp tie to the mounting stud.

Each engagement spring has an engagement region comprising a hindrance portion, which increases considerably the removal to insertion force ratio as compared to such ratio in the absence of the hindrance portion, thus permitting very easy insertion with considerably more difficult removal of the fastener from the slot of a panel, which provides an efficient ergonomically balanced removal to insertion force ratio. The hindrance portion comprises ripples or other hindrance elements of unexpectedly minute dimensions for providing this efficient ergonomic force balance.

Abstract: A fastener is provided for removably engaging and holding sections of material, such as a tarp, without piercing the material. One piece of the fastener is a base with one end providing a contact surface for a support structure, and the other forming a substantially elliptical flange. The second piece is a frame having an opening that substantially defines a first ellipse having a first orientation, and a second ellipse having a second orientation. The second elliptical opening is partially occluded at its opposite ends. A section of material to be engaged and held is placed over the elliptical flange. The second piece is oriented to align the first elliptical opening and the elliptical flange, and is inserted over the elliptical flange and section of material to be held. The second piece is then rotated to align the second elliptical opening and elliptical flange.

The buckle includes a box like arcurate main body having a gap and flanges on the top, an opening in each end, a rectangular through hole in the middle of front and back walls, a pair of inlets and a pair of outlets symmetrically and spacedly formed in the bottom with the outlets being positioned outside of the inlets and a pair of retaining plates being defined abutting the outlets, a pair of sliders slidably disposed into the main body and positioned between each of the inlets and outlets and having a flat depression in the top and a striped surface on a lateral side, a pair of tags from a shoelace respectively inserted into the main body via the inlets and surrounded the top of the sliders and then pierced out of the main body via the outlets, an elastic cap covered the main body and having two pairs of retaining blocks held by the flanges of the main body and two pairs of actuating rods engageable with the sliders.
