Abstract: A conductor torquing system is provided for large diameter threaded conductor casing which comprises a lower chain vise or fixed grip head adapted to grip a first joint of conductor casing, a plurality of movable arms operable to apply a retaining force to a second joint of conductor casing to maintain the latter in rotational contact with a spinning means. The spinning means is operable to rotationally make-up the second joint of conductor casing to the first joint of conductor casing to an initial make-up torque valve. The apparatus also includes an upper chain vise or rotary grip head for gripping the second joint of conductor casing and applying a final make-up torque to the threaded connection. The apparatus will allow a conductor connection to be made-up in a safe and efficient manner and generally assist in reaching the final torque stage more rapidly.

  • Publication number: 20040103520
Abstract: An electric machine including a magnetic component, forming part of its rotor or stator that loses its magnetic characteristics above a certain chosen temperature is disclosed. This magnetic material forms part of a magnetic circuit that guides flux about the stator. As a result, any magnetic flux emanating with the rotor stops circulating about the stator above this temperature, and the machine stops acting as generator. The component is thermally coupled to windings carrying current from the machine's stator. The material forming the component is selected so that the chosen temperature is lower than the temperature at which the machine would be thermally damaged. This, in turn, limits the operating temperature of the windings, and thus prevents overheating of the machine during operation, typically caused by a fault. Preferably this magnetic material is formed from a ferrite material, such as a Manganese Zinc ferrite material.

The stacked open pattern inductor includes a plurality of parallel open conducting patterns embedded in a magnetic oxide or in an insulator and a magnetic material. Embedding the stacked open pattern inductor in a magnetic oxide or in an insulator and a magnetic material increases the inductance of the inductor and allows the magnetic flux to be confined to the area of the inductor. A layer of magnetic material may be located above the inductor and below the inductor to confine electronic noise generated in the stacked open pattern inductor to the area occupied by the inductor. Abstract: A magnetic sensor is constituted using magnetic sensor chips mounted on stages supported by interconnecting members and a frame having leads in a lead frame. Herein, the stages are inclined upon plastic deformation of the interconnecting members. When the frame is held in a metal mold and the stages are pressed, the interconnecting members are elastically deformed, so that the magnetic sensor chips are bonded onto the stages placed substantially in the same plane and are then wired with the leads. Thereafter, the stages are released from pressure, so that the interconnecting members are restored from the elastically deformed states thereof. When the magnetic sensor chips are combined together to realize three sensing directions, it is possible to accurately measure three-dimensional bearings of magnetism, and the magnetic sensor can be reduced in dimensions and manufactured with a reduced cost therefor.

Abstract: A template provides a quick and accurate method for marking locations of conduit entry holes to be formed in an electrical panelboard. The template is a rectangular sheet that is divided into longitudinal spacer zones, transverse spacer zones, a longitudinal marking zone and graduated marking zones. Each of the marking zones has multiple apertures used in making marks on the electrical panelboard to identify hole locations.

Abstract: A laundry drier control method is provided, by which drying time is dynamically controlled according to an amount and type of a drying object, using a calculated medium temperature to determine a medium temperature time. The method includes steps of initiating a drying procedure by actuating drivers, including a heater driver to increase an internal temperature of a laundry drier; determining a medium temperature time by measuring a time lapse from the drying procedure initiating step to a point where the internal temperature reaches a medium temperature between a drying initiation temperature and a maximum drying temperature; setting a drying time based on the determined medium temperature time; and performing the drying procedure for the set drying time. The drying time is set by multiplying the determined medium temperature time by a predetermined factor. The drying initiation temperature is the internal temperature at the time of initiating the drying procedure.
