Publication number: 20040168746Abstract: The present invention is a production method of an R-T-B-C rare earth alloy (R is at least one element selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements and yttrium, T is a transition metal including iron as a main component, B is boron, and C is carbon). An R-T-B bonded magnet containing a resin component, or an R-T-B sintered magnet with a resin film formed on the surface thereof is prepared, and a solvent alloy containing a rare earth element R and a transition metal element T is prepared. Thereafter, the R-T-B bonded magnet is molten together with the solvent alloy. In this way, a rare earth alloy can be recovered from a spent bonded magnet or a defective one generated in a production process stage, and a rapidly quenched alloy magnet can be obtained. As a result, magnet powder is recovered from the R-T-B magnet, and the recycling of a magnet including a resin component can be realized.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2003Publication date: September 2, 2004Inventors: Hiroyuki Tomizawa, Koji Nakahara, Yuji Kaneko

Publication number: 20040168784Abstract: A steam distributor that uses a porous metal plate to replace the conventional screen plate of a steam shower for distributing steam to a moving web such as the web of a paper making machine. Steam showers using a steam distributor with this porous metal plate can deliver extremely uniform steam to the surface of a paper web. Profiling steam showers constructed by using an array of the steam distributors are able to deliver the best profiling results for various paper products. The porous metal plate can be considered as an equivalent of a screen plate with thousands of micro-orifices arranged tightly in both the machine direction and the CD direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2004Publication date: September 2, 2004Inventors: Shizhong Duan, Geoffrey Arthur Jones

Publication number: 20040168785Abstract: A method for obtaining particulate calcium carbonate having an average particle size less than about 12 microns is provided. The method includes the steps of (1) withdrawing from a pulp mill a mixture containing calcium carbonate; (2) treating the mixture to remove contaminants contained in the mixture to produce a treated mixture containing calcium carbonate and further having a chemical composition and/or purity which substantially inhibits the fusing together of calcium carbonate particulates; (3) recovering from the treated mixture particulate calcium carbonate having an average particle size less than about 12 microns. The calcium carbonate produced has a high surface area to volume ratio and is therefore highly reactive and suitable for numerous applications such as in the treatment of soil, filler paper production, paint production, and contaminant containment in coal stack emission assemblies.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 3, 2004Publication date: September 2, 2004Inventors: Gary Allen Olsen, John Carl Stuever, Susan Candace Stuever

Publication number: 20040168786Abstract: A method of manufacturing a gas turbine part including a member having fluid transmission paths therein utilized as a cooling/heat insulating structure, includes the steps of: melting a metal under pressurization of an atmospheric gas; dissolving a gas in the molten metal; and solidifying the metal to thereby manufacture the member including a porous metal having thus created pores. The pores of the porous metal are arranged as a plurality of through pores and/or closed pores, each of which is formed in an substantially linear shape by controlling an angle of a solid-liquid interface in solidification with respect to a plane perpendicular to a traveling direction of the solid-liquid interface which is a determination factor of a pore growing direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2004Publication date: September 2, 2004Applicants: KAWASAKI JUKOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA, Hideo NAKAJIMAInventors: Kouzou Isano, Akiyoshi Mizuta, Yuji Matsuzaki, Hideo Kimura, Hideo Nakajima

Publication number: 20040168790Abstract: A catalyst coating 5 for decomposing ozone in the air is applied to an outer surface of cooling pipes 3 and radiating fins 4 of a radiator 2. A peel sensor 2 is provided on the catalyst coating 5 of the radiator 2 to detect a loss (remaining amount) of the catalyst coating 5. The position of detection of the peel sensor 2 is determined according to a temperature characteristic of the radiator 2, and a flow rate of the air passing through the radiator 2. The position of detection of the peel sensor 2 can be determined easily and appropriately, such that loss and deterioration of the catalyst coating 5 can be detected with high precision.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2003Publication date: September 2, 2004Inventors: Hiroki Hosoe, Tatsuya Okayama, Akira Murakami, Kengo Takamizawa
