  • Patent number: 6811192
Abstract: The apparatus for joining and sealing conduits, includes edge trim, a sleeve, and a retaining element. The edge trim is shaped to mount upon and engage an end of a conduit. The sleeve extends between the conduits and at least partially surrounds the edge trim. The sleeve may be made of compressible material, such that when the retaining element surrounds a portion of the sleeve and the edge trim, the retaining element generally compresses the portion of the sleeve portion underlying the retaining element and displaces the sleeve material to expand on either side of the retaining element and limit movement of the retaining element. The method of joining and sealing conduits includes mounting the edge trim and a retaining element upon an end of a conduit, extending a sleeve between the conduits, and sliding the retaining element over the sleeve toward the end of the conduit.

  • Patent number: 6811219
Abstract: A vehicle seat comprises a base frame including front and rear transverse support members, a backrest, and a seat pan. The seat pan has a rear part mounted on the transverse support members adjacent to the backrest for angular movement about a transverse horizontal axis and a front part which is mounted for angular movement relative to the rear part between a position in which its top surface is co-planar with the top surface of the rear part and a position in which the front edge of the front part is lower than its rear edge when the rear part is substantially horizontal. The distance between the front transverse support member and the rear edge of the rear part of the seat pan is less than two thirds (preferably less that half) of the distance between the front edge of the front part of the seat pan and the rear edge of the rear part of the seat pan, in order to leave room for a seat occupant to stand upright when the seat pan is raised.

  • Patent number: 6811225
Abstract: A seat apparatus and method particularly well adapted for use in mobile platforms, and more particularly in a commercial aircraft. The seat apparatus includes a seat portion with linkage that enables a user to lift and tilt the seat portion forwardly while simultaneously moving a seat back of the apparatus from a reclined to a fully upright position. An extendable leg rest assembly allows the user to kneel thereon to further relieve lower back stress during prolonged periods of seating and to better enable the seat occupant to make use of a laptop computer or other equipment positioned in front of the occupant. The seat apparatus therefore provides a plurality of different seating positions for the occupant, thus enhancing the comfort of the occupant during prolonged seating periods and while the seat occupant is performing various tasks.

  • Patent number: 6811233
Abstract: A foldable workbench provides ergonomic and flat horizontal working surfaces that can be folded vertically to occupy less space when desired. The top shelf may fold downwardly and provide a working space for arms and shoulders. The middle space is generally disposed at waist or hip height to provide arm and shoulder space while also providing an object against which a person might lean in order to provide stability, steady themselves, and work upon objects present on the middle shelf. The lower shelf has room for a person's shins or feet, especially when leaning against the middle shelf. The foldable workstation has a generally thin profile when folded up against a wall or other similar vertical support. The folded panels of the foldable workbench provide protection for tools hanging vertically on a pegboard or the like adjacent the upper folded panel. Similarly, foldable shelves provide horizontal storage or stowage space when needed yet fold vertically to occupy less space when so desired.
