  • Patent number: 6811085
Abstract: A miniature imager for reading target images. The optical and electrical systems of the miniature imager are optimized to reduce one or more dimensions or the volume of the imager. In accordance with one embodiment the pixel pitch and focal length are decreased for that of a larger imager to maintain a comparable field of view for each pixel. The decreased pixel pitch allows the area of the aperture and the instantaneous field of view of the pixel to remain constant while decreasing the overall size of the imager. In other embodiments apparatus and techniques reduce and/or eliminate the need for illumination of a target by the imager thereby reducing the overall power consumed by the imager and/or its overall size. The imager has an increased working range.

  • Patent number: 6811101
Abstract: In a fuel injection valve body for a direct injection type internal combustion engine, an entire nozzle body tip portion is formed in a conical shape protruding from a nozzle body outer peripheral surface covered with a cap. Therefore, neither a corner portion or a recessed portion is formed on a surface of the nozzle body tip portion. This prevents heat generated by combustion from concentrating at a corner portion or a surface area from enlarging by a recessed portion, which in turn prevents heat generated by combustion from increasing the temperature of the nozzle body tip portion. Moreover, since a foremost portion of a spherical shape is formed such that it does not form a corner portion or a recessed portion in a peripheral portion of a conical shape, heat generated by combustion does not increase the temperature of the nozzle body tip portion. The temperature of a nozzle hole can therefore be prevented from increasing and accumulation of deposits can be restricted.

  • Patent number: 6811117
Abstract: A landing gear hinge shaft is installed on an aircraft structure using at least two ball joints (22), at least one of which is adjustable. The differences between the theoretical and real positions of the centers of the balls are measured, and the adjustments that have to be made to bring the centers of the balls back to their theoretical positions is deduced. This is done by making a first adjustment in the axial direction using a shim (30) and a second adjustment in the radial direction by adjusting the rotation of an inner cage (34) and an outer cage (36) of the ball joint. The inner and outer cages have eccentric axes that facilitate the adjustment.

  • Patent number: 6811123
Abstract: There is provided a store ejection system and method for mounting and ejecting a jettisonable store. The system uses a pressurized non-pyrotechnic fluid from a fluid source as the source of energy and the transfer mechanism. An actuation system includes an accumulator for receiving and storing the fluid from the pressure source, a poppet valve for controlling a flow of the fluid from the accumulator, and a controller for actuating the poppet valve to an open position in response to a control signal to jettison the store. A pneumatically-driven jettison mechanism for releasably retaining the store is fluidly connected to the poppet valve such that actuating the poppet valve to the open position releases the pressurized fluid in the accumulator to flow to the jettison mechanism, thereby actuating the jettison mechanism to jettison the store.
