Patent number: 6814502Abstract: Rotate-and-pull mechanisms for fiber optic modules. The rotate-and-pull mechanisms have a lever-actuator to unlatch and withdraw a fiber optic module from a cage assembly or a module receptacle. The lever-actuator pivotally couples to the fiber optic module so that when lever-actuator is rotated about its pivot point, the lever-actuator causes the second actuator to release the fiber optic module from the cage assembly. The lever-actuator includes an actuating-tab to cause the second actuator to move when the lever-actuator is rotated. By pulling the lever-actuator away from the cage assembly, the fiber optic module is withdrawn from the cage assembly. A belly-to-belly mounting configuration is introduced for the rotate-and-pull release fiber optic modules.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2002Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: JDS Uniphase CorporationInventors: Liew C. Patent number: 6814503Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for aligning an array of light transmitting elements to an array of photosensitive detectors. The array is adjusted along three axes. Any element (a coupled transmitting and detecting unit of the array) can be selected as the center of rotation. Small angular correction is made about the selected element by differentially moving the array in two axes, using adjustment tools. Alignment is accomplished by performing translational movement in the horizontal X and Y axes until a signal is detected. A rotational correction about the selected element is performed by moving one of a pair of adjustment devices until maximum light intensity is achieved for the end elements. Next, the array is scanned for the weakest performing element in the array. The alignment procedure is repeated until the performance of all of the elements in the array fall within a pre-established specification range.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2002Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Richard R. Patent number: 6814544Abstract: In a joining method for manufacturing a rotor blade by joining a plurality of members, the members are pressed so as to exert a predetermined pressure on the bonding interface. A pulse voltage is applied to the members to pass electric current therethrough, and the joint portion is heated by resistance heating generated at the bonding interface and in the bulk of the members to cause diffusion bonding and thereby to join the members to each other. With this method, good joining can be achieved without substantially changing the crystal structure and mechanical properties of the base metals.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2002Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Takeshi Tsukamoto, Kunio Miyazaki, Masahisa Inagaki

Patent number: 6814545Abstract: The present invention employs improved fan blade shapes to improve fan blade performance in one or more manners (i.e., increased fan efficiency, lower fan noise, greater fluid moving capability, and the like). In some embodiments, the fan blade has a front side, a rear side, an inner attachment portion, an outer edge, a curved leading edge and a curved trailing edge. The outer edge can define an arc between a forward position and a rearward position of the fan blade. In some embodiments, the leading edge extends outward and intercepts the arc of the outer edge at the forward position, and the trailing edge extends outward to the rearward position. Various angles, lengths, and other dimensions of the blade can have selected values to produce superior fan performance.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2003Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: Revcor, Inc.Inventors: Richard G.
