Abstract: The pulse jet engine is a gas turbine characterized by an intermittent isochore combustion. The permanent flow of compressor output is pumped over in the form of gas bursts (pulses) towards the turbine stages after combustion has taken place in one or several units of three combustion chambers operating according to a three-phase cycle: intake, combustion, expansion. The throttle valves for opening and closing the chambers are controlled by electromagnets monitored by a digital system. The adjustment of the frequency of pulse productions and harmonization of the units enable the operating lines and variable permeability levels in the compressor field. The structural architecture is applicable to any type of aircraft engine, on land or at sea. For the same power level the pulse jet engine consumes less fuel, and the pumped over air flow is less than that of gas turbines.

Abstract: A rapid catalyst warm-up control device for an internal combustion engine performs irregular injection dither control during the rapid catalyst warm-up control after starting the engine. In the irregular injection dither control, injection modes are switched after every fuel injection to the cylinders (every 180° CA for a 4-cylinder engine) between a lean injection mode and a rich injection mode in such a pattern that rich injections will not occur consecutively for the same cylinder (dither cycle=540° CA, 900° CA, 1080° CA, or the like). In the lean injection mode, fuel is injected such that the air-fuel ratio is leaner than the stoichiometric ratio, and in the rich injection mode, air-fuel ratio is richer than the stoichiometric ratio. The rich gas emitted from the cylinders where the rich injection has been performed is thus allowed to flow through a different catalyst region every time instead of flowing only through the same region.

Since the air intake port and the exhaust port do not communicate with the liquid reservoir and the vane chamber at the same time, a gaseous phase working medium in the liquid reservoir is obstructed from flowing out to the vane chamber via the trap chamber, so that the gaseous phase working medium having still usable pressure energy is prevented from being wastefully discarded.

Abstract: A Kimchi storage facility having a non-contact power supply device is provided. The Kimchi storage facility includes a main body provided with a storage room storing Kimchi, and a mechanic room where a power supply is installed, a door opening and closing the storage room, and a non-contact power supply device which is installed between the door and the main body, to supply power by an electromagnetic induction. A magnetic levitation unit is provided in a fan accommodation case and rotated in a magnetic levitation rotating manner by induced current supplied via the non-contact power supply device, to thus forcedly circulate cooled air in the storage room. Here, a rotating fan is installed in the lower portion of the door at the state where the rotating fan is accommodated in the fan accommodation case, or a driving motor and a fan which are connected with the non-contact power supply device by wire are installed in the lower portion of the door.

Abstract: Refrigerant is circulated through an economized refrigeration system including a compressor, a gas cooler, a main expansion device, an economizer heat exchanger and an evaporator. After cooling, the refrigerant splits into an economizer flow path and a main flow path. Refrigerant in the economizer flow path is expanded to a low pressure and exchanges heat with the refrigerant in the main flow path in the economizer heat exchanger. The refrigerant in the main flow path is then expanded and heated in the evaporator and enters the compressor, completing the cycle. An accumulator positioned between the economizer heat exchanger and the compressor stores excess refrigerant in the system, regulating the amount of refrigerant in the system and the high pressure in the system. The amount of refrigerant in the accumulator is controlled by regulating the economizer expansion device.

Abstract: A method for producing a quartz glass material with high resistance to radiation-induced density modifications when exposed to ultraviolet radiation at about 193 nm and energy densities of the order of the working energy densities of optical systems for microlithography, in which the peroxy defect level in the quartz glass material is minimized. In this way the creation of closely neighbored hydroxyl groups can be inhibited, which have been identified as an essential cause for radiation induced density reduction of the quartz glass material.

Abstract: A process for manufacturing glass bodies of doped silicate glass is disclosed. The process involves flame hydrolysis, wherein precursors for the forming of the doped glass are fed together with fuel gases into a single burner. A first formed body is generated on a target. The doped silicate glass produced in this way offers a low density of defects and a small breadth of striae. Preferably the first formed body is subsequently formed into a second formed body having a larger breadth and a smaller length than the first formed body. Thereby, the breadth of striae and the density of defects in the doped silica glass is further reduced.
