Abstract: An apparatus for renovating and/or cleaning a synthetic grass turf, or for other synthetic grass turf treatments according to the present invention, employs a hollow spike roller which rolls on the synthetic grass turf to enable air jets or other fluids to be expelled from a number of hollow spikes penetrating to a depth of the synthetic grass turf. The penetration depth of the hollow spikes, the angle of air jets and the duration of the individual air jets being expelled, are all adjustable or predetermined, such that the apparatus of the present invention can be conveniently used in various applications for treating synthetic grass turfs. The apparatus reduces or eliminates the potential damage to the grass fibers which presents with use of conventional brushes or highly pressurized fluid jets, and thereby provides efficient performance.

Abstract: A number of embodiments of rotating electrical machines and methods for winding them that provides a high space utilization and very effective winding with less likelihood of damage to the insulation of the wire of the winding during the winding process. The arrangement basically does not require the winding needle to be moved back and forth in the slot between the poles but rather employs insulating inserts that are positioned on the axial faces of the poles outside of the gaps for guiding the wire from one end to the other so as to provide the high space utilization. In one embodiment the insulating insert effectively changes the circumferential length of the coil winding that decreases in an axial direction along their length.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a thin film magnetic head. The method includes forming, near a pole portion: a first magnetic layer supported by a base substrate; a first insulating layer on the first magnetic layer with an end edge which forms a reference position for an air bearing surface; a gap layer on the pole portion of the first magnetic layer and the first insulation layer; a second magnetic layer that extends to a region beyond the pole portion; a thin film coil isolated by a second insulation layer located above the first insulation layer; a third magnetic layer on the second insulation layer. The air bearing surface is formed by grinding in part an end face of the pole portion of the first magnetic layer and an end face of the pole portion of the second magnetic layer and the gap layer placed therebetween.

Abstract: A method for centering and securing data storage disks to the hub of a spindle motor in a hard disk drive has a chamfer and a countersink on the top of the spindle motor shaft center. During the hard disk drive assembly process, a disk centering tool engages and uses these features to locate and center the disks that are installed on the spindle motor. The features are closely toleranced to provide a very precise centering feature for mounting and aligning the media disks with respect to the hub and the spindle motor. The present design reduces the complexity of the tooling and fixtures required to complete the assembly. As a result, the overall part cost is reduced and the manufacturing yield is improved.

Abstract: A method for creating a hard drive includes installing a slider in a disk drive having at least one disk lubricated with a first stage lubricant. The slider is designed to be in contact with the disk at initial use. The slider is burnished. A second stage lubricant is added to the disk after the burnishing step. The first stage lubricant provides less lubrication than the second stage lubricant, allowing the slider to be burnished in a controllable manner during the burnishing step. The second stage lubricant then provides lubrication to the disk during use by the end consumer.

Abstract: A method is provided for controlling the pitch static attitude of a slider in an integrated lead suspension head gimbal assembly. The integrated lead suspension includes a load beam, a mount plate, a hinge and a flexure made out of a multi-layer material. Localized heating is applied to the outrigger leads during the process of forming flexure legs to set a stable pitch static attitude, which does not change, by subsequent thermal exposures.

The integrated lead suspension includes a load beam, a mount plate, a hinge and a flexure made out of a multi-layer material. The flexure legs and the outrigger leads are simultaneously plastically deformed to define the pitch static attitude. The flexure legs and the outrigger leads are deformed at approximately the same longitudinal location.

Abstract: A method for fabricating a magnetic head includes forming a first pole and a flux shaping layer in spaced relation to the first pole. A nonmagnetic layer is formed adjacent the flux shaping layer and positioned on an air bearing surface (ABS) side of the flux shaping layer. A tapered recess is created in the nonmagnetic layer, the taper of the recess increasing (i.e., becoming deeper) towards the flux forming layer. The recess is filled with a magnetic material. A probe layer is formed such that it is in electrical communication with the magnetic material filling the recess.

Abstract: A device is provided that allows for the formation of an interposer for a glass and plate. In one exemplary embodiment, the device is a sheet comprising a printable layer adhered to a non-slip layer. The sheet is configured to accommodate a printer and may in fact receive printing therefrom. The interposer may subsequently be removed from the sheet. The sheet may have also previously received other printing while part of a larger sheet. Printing, perforating, complete cutting, and assembling component materials maybe segmented and interleaved as preferred.
