Abstract: The invention relates to a method for separating CO2 from combustion gases, which can be used at areas with large emissions (thermal power stations using any carbonaceous fuel). The separated CO2 stream can be used and/or contained in geological formations. The inventive method aims to reduce the high costs involved in CO2 separation which prevent large-scale use of the CO2 confinement options included in the UN's IPCC reports. Said method consists of bringing the combustion gases into contact with a calcareous sorbent (limestone, calcined dolomite) at 650-750° C., thereby producing the CO2 capture reaction by means of the rapid carbonation of the sorbent. The sorbent is regenerated in another reactor (calciner) which operates in CO2 or CO2/H2O atmospheres.

Abstract: In order to prevent a catalyst for an internal combustion engine from decreasing efficiency by deterioration after long time use of the catalyst, the decreased efficiency of the catalyst is determined, and the internal engine is controlled based on results of the determination so as to maintain high efficiency of the catalyst. The catalyst is installed in an exhaust pipe of the engine. Sensors for detecting conditions of exhaust gas both at upstream side and downstream side of the catalyst are provided, respectively. As for the sensor, for example, an oxygen sensor of which output varies stepwise at ?=1, or a sensor of which output varies in proportion to air-fuel ratio can be used. Detected values of the sensors are taken into a control unit, eliminating efficiency and deteriorating degree of the catalyst are estimated by comparison of the detected values, and the engine is controlled so that the eliminating efficiency becomes maximum.

Abstract: A mixer includes a fresh air tube defining a passage having an inlet receiving conditioned air from an air conditioning pack. The fresh air tube includes an outlet providing mixed air to a cabin of the aircraft. An outer tube at least partially surrounds the fresh air tube and receives recirculated air from the cabin. Multiple holes in the fresh air tube fluidly connect the outer tube to the fresh air tube. The warm recirculation air surrounds the portion of the fresh air tube to heat it preventing ice from forming. The warm recirculation air entering the fresh air tube through the holes homogeneously mixes with the conditioned air from the pack to provide a uniform mixture of air within the fresh air tube, which further ensures the prevention of ice build up.

Abstract: A method and devices for the solidification of aqueous substances by the direct evaporation of water from the substance and the sorption of the water vapor in a sorption agent in a vacuum system, wherein the aqueous substance and the sorption agent are evacuated from the surrounding pressure level to a system pressure of below 5 mbar (absolute) by means of a vacuum pump and the nonsorbable gases thereby suctioned by the vacuum pump are suctioned through the sorption agent. The mass of the used sorption agent is at least half the mass of the water fraction in the substance. The solidification process is realized in less than 2 min, particularly less than 20 sec. The aqueous substance is solidified in a solidification container that can be removed from the vacuum system, the vacuum system is subsequently vented, and the solidified substance removed from the vacuum system together with the solidification container.

Vertical flat impingement plates between the horizontal baffle ribs within the bonnets subdivide the bonnets into sub-chambers corresponding to the tube count in respective tube bundles. The cross-sectional areas of successive bundles of tubes increase to allow for expansion of the coolant as it flows through the heat exchanger and absorbs heat from the fluid to be cooled. The vertical plates in the end bonnets define restricted flow areas for the coolant which increases in flow area corresponding to the respective tube bundles.
