  • Patent number: 6877201
Abstract: An apparatus for positioning and holding a golf club for installation of a golf club grip comprises a shaft cradle, a shaft clamp and a positioning device. The positioning device comprises a platen that is moveable toward and away from the axis of the golf club shaft when the golf club shaft is positioned in the apparatus. Mounted to the platen are a fixed stop and an opposing moveable ram. The fixed stop has a stop surface that is adapted to engage the face of the club so that as the opposing moveable ram presses the golf club head against the fixed stop, the face will assume an orientation flush against the surface of the fixed stop, thus aligning the club face with the stop surface. The entire platen assembly is moveable toward and away from the axis of the golf club shaft so as to accommodate golf clubs having different offsets.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an optical measuring devices and method of using the device. The optical measuring device utilizes a plurality of lasers attached to a plurality of interconnected legs to optically determine CENTER, LEVEL, LENGTH, DISTANCE, and PLUMB related to a measured object. In an exemplary embodiment, a user can sight reference laser beams at a first and second point on an object. A mechanical interrelationship between the interconnected legs of the device orientates a laser beam emitted from the center laser at a point, which is equidistance between the reference laser beams. The optical measuring device can include a level, a distance finding attachment, and or an electronic system 500. Electronic system 500 functionality can include, but is not limited to, data processing, data communications, GPS enabled applications, user interface, and distance and angle determination interfaces. The optical measuring device is preferably compact, pocket sized, and portable.

  • Patent number: 6877237
Abstract: A method and system is presented for acquiring calibration data for a three-axis electronic compass by positioning and rotating the compass so that each sensitive axis in the compass experiences variation in the magnetic field while rotating the compass. Acquiring the calibration data occurs by measuring output signals that reflect the magnetic fields acting on the electronic compass while rotating the compass. Positioning of the compass includes moving the compass so that at least one of the sensitive axes travels a path that approximately forms a cone when the compass is rotated around a gravity vector. Calibration data from three sensitive axes experiencing variation in the magnetic field is available during a single rotation of the compass.
