The filter assembly connects to the base frame assembly and filters particles from air prior to the air entering an internal combustion engine. The base frame assembly includes a base ring, a connecting bracket and an inner frame. The base ring has a ring configuration with a central through hole. The connecting bracket is mounted and held in the central through hole and has a clean air outlet, such as a through hole. The inner frame is mounted on the base ring over the through hole of the connecting bracket to spin clean air with powerful spinning currents to mix the clean air coming out of the clean air outlet with atomized fuel sprayed into the carburetor. A curved flow path (1) is imposed on the flow (21), and heavy foreign bodies are separated out of the main flow by centrifugal force. The partial stream required to carry away the foreign bodies is aftertreated in a filter (11) and returned in purified form. Abstract: An air fuel ratio control apparatus for an internal combustion engine can improve learning accuracy in the air fuel ratio control even if the air fuel ratio of a mixture detected by an air fuel ratio detection device shifts from an actual air fuel ratio thereof. The apparatus controls the air fuel ratio of an exhaust gas flowing into an exhaust gas purification device based on an air fuel ratio feedback value and an air fuel ratio learning value. A temperature detection device detects the temperature of the exhaust gas purification device. A determination device determines, based on a difference between a detection value of the temperature detection device and a target temperature, that the air fuel ratio detection device shifts to a rich or lean side. The update of the air fuel ratio learning value is inhibited when the air fuel ratio detection device shifts to a rich or lean side.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine is supplied with reformate from a hydrocarbon reformer at engine start-up and during engine warm-up. The reformate fuel mixture is fuel-lean at start-up to ensure that all the fuel is burned while the exhaust converter is thermally non-functional. Shortly after start-up, the mixture is changed to be fuel-rich, providing unburned reformate fuel in the exhaust stream. During start-up and warm-up, the output of an air pump is controllably divided between the reformer (primary air) and the engine exhaust system (secondary air). Unburned reformate from the engine and secondary air from the air pump ignite and thereby rapidly heat the converter. Gasoline or diesel fueling of the engine by fuel injection is preferably delayed until the engine and the converter both reach operating temperatures, whereupon the engine is fueled by fuel injection and further reforming is terminated.

Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to methods and assemblies for improving the efficiency of a turbine engine through active management of blade tip clearances. In some designs, a portion of compressor exit air is routed to the rotor and discs of the turbine section. Aspects of the invention relate to treating the compressor exit air in light of the operating conditions of the engine. For instance, under base load or substantially steady state operation, a portion of compressor exit air can be routed to the rotor and discs without reducing the temperature of the compressor exit air. In such case, blade tip clearances will reduce, allowing for improved engine efficiency. Under part load or substantially transient operating conditions, a portion of compressor exit air can be cooled before it is supplied to the rotor and discs. As a result, the blade tip clearances increase, minimizing concerns of blade tip rubbing. Routing of the compressor exit air for cooling and bypass can be controlled by a valve.

Abstract: A microreactor comprises a reaction chamber, into which prescribed materials are introduced, a production chamber, and a channel for connecting the reaction chamber and the production chamber together. A plurality of temperature adjusting devices (e.g., Peltier elements), each of which can be independently controlled in temperature, are arranged at prescribed positions with prescribed distances therebetween on a substrate in proximity to the reaction chamber, the production chamber, or the channel. Herein, the reaction chamber causes reaction of the materials in response to differences of boiling points, differences of state changes, or difference of solubility, thus producing a new substance, which is transmitted from the reaction chamber to the production chamber via the channel while being adequately controlled in temperature.

The stability control algorithm is used to control a variable geometry diffuser and a hot gas bypass valve (when provided) in response to the detection of compressor instabilities. The stability control algorithm can adjust the position of a diffuser ring in the variable geometry diffuser in response to the detection of a surge condition or a stall condition. In addition, the diffuser ring in the variable geometry diffuser can be adjusted to determine an optimal position of the diffuser ring. The stability control algorithm can also be used to open a hot gas bypass valve in response to the detection of continued surge conditions.

Abstract: A galley chiller system for an aircraft includes at least one condenser having a refrigerant fluid. The fluid within the condenser rejects heat to a first surrounding environment. To more efficiently use the condenser of the galley chiller system and reduce the requirement on other cooling systems within an aircraft, the condenser may reject its heat to a desired location using a heat exchanger. The galley chiller system includes at least one evaporator that receives fluid from the condenser. A first evaporator absorbs heat from a galley, which may include a bank of carts. The first evaporator is arranged in ducting that carries cooled air to the carts. A second evaporator may absorb heat from a cabin recirculation air duct of the aircraft cooling system. In this manner, the evaporators of the inventive galley chilling system cools not only the galley carts but also provides supplemental cooling to the aircraft cooling system thereby reducing its cooling requirements.

Abstract: A process and the required apparatus for air conditioning the interior of a structure is shown which can be run entirely off a DC power source, such as a storage battery. A shell and tube heat exchanger is combined with a mechanical refrigeration system to provide a wet shell side and a dry tube side of the apparatus. In the operation of the air conditioner, a mass of distributed water is established on the wet shell side, and a flow of ambient air is passed through the wet shell side to form a resulting stream of moist air. A flow of ambient air is passed through the dry tube side and a resulting stream of dry cooled air is recovered. The streams of most and cooled air can either be combined or routed separately depending primarily upon the humidity of the surrounding environment to be cooled. The air conditioning unit is not hermetically sealed and the water consumption rate is generally less than that required for a conventional evaporative cooler.

Abstract: A heating and cooling system incorporates a heat pump that operates conventionally with air drawn from outside the system through its condenser coils that remove heat to the exterior for cooling. In the heating cycle, the condenser motor blower stops and reverses rotation. Outside air is drawn in by the condenser fan, is circulated across the diesel engine and generator, and is blown through the condenser coils outside of the unit. In the heating cycle, a circuit monitors the temperature of the compressor coil and controls the speed of the condenser motor. The heat recovery method of the system maintains power input to heat output ratios in excess of 2:1, even at low outside temperatures. The recovery method also allows the system to operate without defrost cycles. This system may provide auxiliary power, block heat, and battery charging, utilizing a small diesel engine and generator components, and can be installed within a truck, bus, boat, cabin, camper, and the like.
