  • Patent number: 6898911
Abstract: A thin decorative thermosetting laminate of postforming quality is glued to a longitudinal carrier to form a floor strip. The laminate has a thermosetting resin as well as hard particles impregnated therein to increase the abrasion resistance of the laminate. The carrier generally has a cross section of a dilatation, transition or a finishing profile, depending on the intended use of the floor strip. The floor strip has a tab portion on a surface that engages a channel on a floor tile or a reducer. The tab portion locks the floor strip into place and prevents movement of the floor tile or the reducer with respect to the floor strip.

  • Patent number: 6898912
Abstract: A system for reinforcing a concrete structural member comprises a panel oriented longitudinally and at least one frame assembly module. The module is formed with several rod members and with a reinforcement member defines a retention cell having a generally vertically oriented opening for receiving a vertical reinforcement member. An additional rod member can be employed in abutment with an interior surface of the panel. The panel body can hold a connector, such as a mushroom shaped connector, which can be used for mounting the module and also be used in conjunction with a bracer to join two panels and their associated modules together. Adjacent abutting panels can have overlapping reinforcement members, which can be inclined or have angled end portions. Each panel can have associated with it a plurality of retention cells arranged, transversely, longitudinally and vertically. The reinforcement system can be used as part of formwork used in constructing a structural member, or used with conventional formwork.

  • Patent number: 6898922
Abstract: Flat objects (10) are packaged with a packaging material (1) that is supplied as a quasi-endless web. The packaging material (1) is gripped at one of its surfaces by gripping elements (6), which are spaced from on another. During conveyance of the packaging material (1) by the gripping elements (6), the distances between the gripping elements (6) are reduced and the packaging material (1) is made to buckle between the gripping elements to one side, forming a string of bags (1?). During further conveyance these bags (1?) are charged with the flat objects (10), are severed from the string of bags, and are sealed. The packaging material, which is supplied, with its width aligned essentially horizontally, is gripped from above by the gripping elements (6) and therefore buckles downwards by gravity, and the bags are charged from above.

  • Patent number: 6898927
Abstract: An emission control system has a catalyst and a sensor responding to a component of exhaust gas. In order to speed warming up the catalyst, the emission control system increases the amount of heat dissipated by exhaust gas. A diagnosis of the emission control system is carried out by determining whether the amount of heat dissipated by exhaust gas is sufficient or insufficient. The amount of heat dissipated by exhaust gas is represented by the length of time to an activated state of the sensor. In the diagnosis, the amount of heat generated by a heater provided in the sensor is taken into consideration.

  • Patent number: 6898929
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a vaporized reductant to an engine exhaust stream find particular utility in the regeneration of a nitrous oxide absorber in a Diesel engine exhaust treatment system. The method and apparatus are based on fueling the Diesel engine with a mixture of Diesel oil and an alcohol, such as methanol. At least a portion of the alcohol vaporizes in the fuel tank, or is forced to vaporize by passing the fuel mixture through a heat exchanger. The vapor is then stored in a canister for subsequent selective injection of the alcohol into the exhaust stream upstream of the adsorber. The alcohol then thermally decomposes to provide sufficient hydrogen and carbon monoxide to regenerate the adsorber.

  • Patent number: 6898947
Abstract: A system for providing liquid refrigerant subcooling. Subcooling heat exchange is accomplished by directing and controlling the flow of said harvest and/or melt water through a refrigerant to fluid heat exchanger, or by a passive heat sink method whereby the liquid refrigerant subcooler sits in a non-pumped open reservoir that overflows at each harvest cycle. A system for providing hot gas discharge refrigerant precooling. Precooling heat exchange is accomplished by directing and controlling the flow of said harvest and/or melt water through a refrigerant to fluid heat exchanger, or by a passive heat sink method whereby the hot gas discharge refrigerant precooler sits in a non-pumped open reservoir that overflows at each harvest cycle. A system that combines the first two systems described above for providing both the benefits of subcooling and precooling with the same harvest and/or melt water supply being used twice.

  • Patent number: 6898948
Abstract: In order to provide a screw compressor comprising two screw rotors which are disposed in screw rotor bores in a compressor casing and which compress a refrigerant entering at a refrigerant inlet and discharge it at a refrigerant outlet, and comprising an inlet provided in the compressor casing for refrigerant which is coming from a subcooling circuit and is passed to the inlet in a system of lines, the inlet being disposed in such a way that it opens out into compression spaces enclosed by the screw rotors and screw rotor bores, in which compressor the pressure oscillations or pulsations occurring at the inlet propagate as little as possible to the pipeline system of the subcooling circuit outside the compressor casing, it is proposed that the inlet is preceded by a damper channel which is associated with the system of lines and in which refrigerant from the subcooling circuit is present.

  • Patent number: 6898949
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for refrigerating liquefied natural gas under pressure (1), comprising a first step wherein the LNG (1) is cooled, expanded and separated (a) in a first base fraction (4) which is collected, and (b) a first top fraction (3) which is heated, compressed in a compressor (K1) and cooled into a first compressed fraction (5) which is collected; a second compressed fraction (6) is drawn from the fuel gas (5), cooled then mixed with the cooled and expanded LNG (1). The invention is characterised in that it comprises a second step wherein the second compressed fraction (6) is compressed and cooled, and a flux is (8) drawn and cooled, expanded and introduced in the compressor (K1). The invention also describes other embodiments.

  • Patent number: 6898952
Abstract: An electric padlock includes a lock casing, a shackle member, a latch member, and a battery cap member. The lock casing is formed with a battery compartment to receive a battery unit, and a battery access hole. The shackle member extends movably into the lock casing, and is formed with a shackle groove. The latch member is received in the lock casing, and is movable to engage the shackle groove so as to lock the shackle member on the lock casing, and to disengage from the shackle groove so as to unlock the shackle member from the lock casing. The battery cap member is mounted movably on the lock casing to close the battery access hole, and is formed with a stop projection that engages the shackle member so as to inhibit opening movement of the battery cap member when the shackle member is locked on the lock casing.

  • Patent number: 6898957
Abstract: A method of reducing slot width in slotted tubular liners. A slotted tubular liner (1) is provided having an interior surface (3), an exterior surface (2) and a plurality of slots (4) extending between the interior surface and the exterior surface. One or more contoured rigid forming tools (7) are provided. Pressure is applied to either the interior surface (3) or the exterior surface (2) of the slotted tubular liner (1) with the contoured rigid forming tools (7). The contoured rigid forming tools are then moved in a sweep pattern traversing either the interior surface or the exterior surface of the slotted tubular liner, until plastic deformation narrows the width of the plurality of slots (4) to within desired tolerances. The method does not require the same precise positioning of previously known methods and, as such, provides a combination of increased output and lower cost.
