Abstract: Rectangular PV modules (6) are mounted on a building roof (4) by mounting stands that are distributed in rows and columns. Each stand comprises a base plate (10) that rests on the building roof (4) and first and second brackets (12, 14) of different height attached to opposite ends of the base plate (10). Each bracket (12, 14) has dual members for supporting two different PV modules (6), and each PV module (6) has a mounting pin (84) adjacent to each of its four corners. Each module (6) is supported by attachment of two of its mounting pins (84) to different first brackets (12), whereby the modules (6) and their supporting stands are able to resist uplift forces resulting from high velocity winds without the base plates (10) being physically attached to the supporting roof structure (4). Preferably the second brackets (14) have a telescoping construction that permits their effective height to vary from less than to substantially the same as that of the first brackets (12).

Abstract: A fresh air duct is configured to direct fresh air filtered by an air conditioning system towards a clean room downstream from the fresh air duct, the fresh air having a first level of particle density. A separate particle filter in the fresh air duct, located downstream from the air conditioning system and upstream from the clean room, is configured to further filter the fresh air to provide filtered fresh air having a second level of particle density therein that is less than the first level. Related methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of forming a porous mullite composition of acicular mullite grains having improved properties is described, where the mullite is formed at some time in the presence of a fluorine containing gas. For example, it has been discovered that improved properties may result from heating the mullite to a high temperature in an atmosphere selected from the group consisting of water vapor, oxygen, an inert gas or mixtures thereof or forming the mullite composition from precursors having an AL/Si ratio of at most 2.95.

Abstract: There is disclosed a sealing material for sealing a ceramic structure, the sealing material containing a ceramic component, an ordinary-temperature liquid component, and a suspending agent. In a method in which opening end portions of a large number of through channels 3 divided by partition walls 2 and extending in an axial direction in a honeycomb structure 1 including the through channels, the method comprises the steps of: sealing the opening end portions using the above-described sealing material. Sealed portions 10 are formed in the opening end portions of the through channels 3 by the sealing material. There are disclosed a sealing material, a sealing method for a honeycomb structure, and a sealed honeycomb structure in which less kinks are generated in the sealed portions, and a depth in each sealed portion fluctuates little.

Abstract: An exhaust emission control device comprises a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of exhaust gas directly on the upper-stream side of a diesel particulate filter. An ECU adjusts a compulsive regeneration interval in accordance with a cumulative history of cases in which the exhaust gas temperature detected by means of the temperature sensor continues to be not lower than a value equivalent to a continuous regeneration temperature. The compulsive regeneration interval is adjusted by means of the ECU in accordance with a history of circumstances in which a state for continuous regeneration is realized.
