Abstract: A sighting device is used to aim along a line of sight at a target. The sighting device includes a reticle structure formed of a roof prism assembly having an inclined final roof-prism mirror surface that is not perpendicular to the line of sight. The inclined final roof-prism mirror surface is the last surface of the roof prism assembly from which an optical path of the target reflects before leaving the roof prism assembly. There are two sets of sighting reference features, wherein the sets of sighting reference features are disposed on the inclined roof-prism mirror surface. A separately operable illumination source is provided for each of the sets of sighting reference features, wherein each illumination source illuminates only one set of sighting reference features.

Abstract: An insect-catching lamp includes a casing having its front side bored with a through opening. The casing is installed with an insect-luring lamp of LED in the interior and provided with a deep-colored adhesive paper at one inner side. When the LED emits bright light outward, mosquitoes will be attracted to fly around the insect-luring lamp and be stuck by the adhesive paper. The insect-catching lamp of this invention is provided with neither electrode bars nor high-voltage electronic elements so it is quite safe in use and able to prevent people from touching the adhesive paper. In addition, the insect-luring lamp employs the low-power LED as an electric source, able to lower consumption of electricity, prolong service life and reduce cost in use.

Abstract: The process generates energy from organic material utilizing microwaves. The waste from food item is dried and further heated under temperature control to convert it into a renewable source of energy. Enclosed in a glass chamber (2) it is then exposed to microwave energy. Apparatus comprises a microwave oven (1), a heat exchanger (3) and energy extraction systems (5) and (6). The microwave absorption creates an ionized hot air atmosphere of high-energy Plasma. This new process for hot plasma generates heat, pressure and electromotive energy, which can be converted by a heat exchanger; a microwave ignited internal-combustion engine or a Magneto-Hydrodynamic (MHD) system, to the useful form of mechanical or electrical energy. The process incorporates a method for plasma confinement to harness its energy. Suitable feedback-control (7) makes the process self-sustaining with net gain in the output energy. Energy efficiency of the process measures the nutritional value of food item used.

  • Publication number: 20060107586
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention is a composition of diesel, biodiesel or blended fuel (DF) with exhaust gas (EG) mixtures or with liquid CO2. The composition is in a liquid state near the supercritical region or a supercritical fluid mixture such that it quasi-instantaneously diffuses into the compressed and hot air as a single and homogeneous supercritical phase upon injection in a combustion chamber. Suitable temperatures and pressures are greater than about 300° C. and 100 bar, and the mole fraction of EG or CO2 (XEG or XCO2) in DF is in the range of 0.0-0.9. In a combustion process embodiment, composition embodiments are injected into a combustion chamber under supercritical conditions. The content of EG or CO2 in DF can be controlled as a function of engine operating parameters such as rpm and load. The thermodynamic and transport properties of supercritical DF-EG or DF-CO2 compositions can be more easily tuned and controlled than subcritical two-phase compositions.

Preferably, available waste heat sources within the surrounding industrial plan operation are used to provide heat to the dryer. Moreover, conveyor means contained within the dryer can remove larger, denser particles that could otherwise impede the continuous flow of the particulate material through the dryer or plug the fluidizing dryer. This invention is especially useful for drying coal for an electricity generation plant.

Tiles are then positioned adjacent the first tile so that a portion of the connector adheres to the adjacent tiles. In this way, the connectors span adjacent tile edges. The tiles are assembled on a underlying flooring surface without the need to attach them to the floor surface. Rather, the tiles are linked to each other with the connectors, so that the tiles create a floor covering that “floats” on the underlying floor surface.

Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for providing end seals on vertical stand up packages that prevents pleat formation and gusset variation. A clamping device is mounted below sealing jaws. A bottom end seal is made by the sealing jaws to form an open-ended tube. The open-ended tube is moved downward. The clamping device engages the tube to prevent twisting when product is placed into the tube. Product then enters an open-ended tube of flexible film packaging and the top seal is made.

Abstract: Packets of prismatic geometry referable to a longitudinal axis, presenting two larger side faces, two smaller flank faces and two end faces, are overwrapped by a method including a step in which each packet, enveloped initially by a tubular wrap projecting beyond the two end faces, is inserted into a holder of a transfer wheel in such a way that two appendages of the tubular wrap projecting at either end from a first flank face of the packet are flattened over the end faces; the appendages are pinned immediately along two lines coinciding substantially with the corner edges of the end face as the packet enters the relative holder, and held stably in position during a subsequent step of transferring the single packets from a feed station to an outfeed conveyor.

Abstract: A side sealing apparatus for a shrink packaging machine comprising closed loop temperature control of a heater for maintaining an optimum temperature for cutting and sealing two layers of thermoplastic film. The heater comprises a cable or cartridge heater with an internal thermocouple, and it is connected to an automatic temperature controller. The heater is mounted on the side sealer apparatus between two sets of top and bottom V-belts mounted around drive rolls and idler rolls. The V-belts provide nip pressure against the film in order to drive the film. Nip pressure is generated by nip rolls on the scrap side of the film, and by belt support plates on the package side of the film.

In one embodiment, nip pressure is generated by nip rollers on the scrap side of the film, and by low friction belt support guides on the package side of the film. In another embodiment, the belt support guides are replaced with a series of upper and lower nip rollers, and adjustable toggle clamps provide adjustable pressure on the series of upper and lower nip rollers.

Abstract: Computer assisted systems, methods and mediums for filling one or more orders. One embodiment of the present invention is a system that includes an order consolidation station configured to receive at least one bottle containing pills individually counted and/or at least one package containing pharmaceutical products without having been designated for any of the orders when the package was created and/or at least one literature pack optionally including patient specific information. The order consolidation station is further configured to combine automatically the received bottle and/or package and/or literature pack into a container to be sent to a recipient including, for example, mail order pharmacies, wholesalers and/or central fill dealers for subsequent distribution or sale including retailer distribution or sale. The bottle is specifically designated for the order, and the order generally includes at least one prescription for the package.

Abstract: A strap pressing device for a strap packing apparatus includes a strap presser, an eccentric shaft, and a spring. The eccentric shaft consists of a first shaft and a second shaft eccentrically connected to the first shaft and received in an oval hole of the strap presser. The first shaft is pivotally connected to a side of the base. A spring is fitted around the second shaft in the oval hole, so the strap presser may be pressed down to press a strap closely contact the upper surface of the base, and also moved bias by movement of the second shaft when the first shaft is moved by a lever so that the strap presser may be moved bias to rise up quickly to leave the upper surface of the base so as to prevent a curved bottom surface of the strap presser from frictionally sliding on the strap to give scar on it.

Abstract: A dust collecting filter such as a honeycomb-type industrial filter for the industrial filtering of gas containing solid particles is provided. The filter includes a plurality of collateral inlet and outlet channels separated by shared filtering boundaries. The inlet channels coalesce at both their extremities into opposite inlet plenums, and the outlet channels similarly coalesce into an outlet plenum at at least one of their extremities. The filter is easily cleanable by flow reversal without dead-end accumulation of particles in the inlet channels since they do not have any dead-end.
