Abstract: A toe shoe widener is provided in the form of an A-shaped insert with independent halves. On each half, a swiveling ball is attached to a wire curved to fit the contours of a shoe's toe shoe and further attached to a curved side panel. A plate extends at right angles from each side panel, with the flat side placed horizontally. After placing the two halves in a toe shoe, the user inserts a tapered screw into cutouts in the adjoining plates, so that the threads of the screw can turn against the edges of the plates. The screw can then be twisted into the plates to open the plates wider, causing the side panels to push outward on the toe shoe. The plates may also be aligned through a metal sleeve or placed vertically for access from the rear of a shoe closed at the top.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for integrating the steps of securing and aligning a ramp to the pallet. A pallet mounting bracket secures to a pallet and mates with a corresponding ramp mounting bracket secured to a ramp. A pallet mounting bracket includes a registration receptacle that receives a registration member secured to the ramp mounting bracket in order to position the ramp with respect to the pallet. A driving member secured to the pallet mounting bracket engages a corresponding engagement portion on the ramp mounting bracket as the ramp is lowered into place next to the pallet. The driving member urges the engagement portion toward the pallet thereby urging a fastener secured to the ramp mounting bracket into engagement with a locking portion secured to the pallet mounting bracket thereby locking the ramp into position in alignment with the pallet.

Abstract: An open-type clamp in which the clamping band end portions are intended to form overlapping inner and outer band portions that are connected by a connection, in which the plastically deformable tightening device for tightening the clamping band about an object to be fastened requires an initial plastic deformation for proper operation and in which a guide arrangement is provided in the end area of the inner clamping band portion to guide the relative movement between overlapping band portions during plastic deformation of the ear, whereby the connection includes a lost-motion arrangement permitting initial plastic deformation of the tightening device substantially without change in radial dimension to avoid the installation of an undersized clamp. According to the method of this invention the amount of lost motion is thereby correlated to the amount of initial plastic deformation necessary to assure proper operation of the tightening device.

Abstract: A fastening system for a vehicle is provided. The fastening system includes a metal clip which is easily inserted and removed from a polymeric doghouse. The doghouse is integrally molded with a vehicle interior trim component. After the clip is inserted into the doghouse, the trim component may be snapped into place over a structural pillar by inserting the clip into an aperture and the pillar. The fastening system is designed such that it will not fail, and the trim component will remain in place, when an air bag adjacent to the trim component is deployed. If desired, the trim component can be easily removed from the support pillar by sliding the trim component, and the attached doghouse, away from the clip. The clip can then be removed from the pillar, a new one inserted into the doghouse, and the trim component can be reused.

Abstract: A spring fastener characterized by a structure having a top portion and a cavity in which the rib of a first article, such as a plastic panel for example having a lower side, may be engaged, and is also suitable to be engaged reversibly in a slot of a second article, such as a metal sheet for example, like the frame of a car for example. The spring fastener also comprises engagement springs having a peak, a front end, and an engagement region between the peak and the front end. The spring fastener further comprises side spacers disposed at the top portion and being adaptable to reach the vicinity or touch the lower side of the first article. It is highly preferable that the fastener comprises barbs with inwardly bent front ends, and that the engagement regions further have a single sided ripple.

Abstract: A method of making a fastener product having discrete regions of fastener element stems extending from a strip-form base includes providing a gap formed along a peripheral surface of a rotating mold roll, the mold roll having a plurality of cavities exposed about the peripheral surface. A sleeve is introduced to the gap. The sleeve is positioned about the mold roll and covers selected cavities. Molten resin is introduced to the gap such that the resin forms at least a part of the strip-form base of the product at the peripheral mold roll surface and at least partially fills a plurality of the cavities to form fastener element stems as projections extending from the strip-form base, while the resin remains blocked from said selected ones by the sleeve. The resin is solidified and stripped from the peripheral surface of the mold roll by pulling the projections from their respective cavities.

A flexible skin overlies at least a portion of the substrate member and is integrally coupled to the substrate. The substrate and flexible skin are configured to define a cavity having an opening. The cavity opening is accessible when the moveable panel is in the open position. A resilient foam pad is positioned within the cavity to provide a soft feel to the trim assembly. The foam pad is inserted into the cavity using a tool that pulls a vacuum and compresses the foam pad. The foam pad is inserted into the cavity and the vacuum is released thereby expanding the foam pad to fill the cavity. The tool is removed and the moveable panel is moved to and secured in the closed position.

The inventive method is characterized in that a functional element provided with a hollow head segment is pressed against the metal part (212) witch is supported by a die (214) and the metal material is deformed into an undercut (324) by deforming the head segment when simultaneous deformation of the hollow head segment occurs and the metal part is shaped in a forming area defined by parts (216) of the die (214). Said parts (216) are kept in a stationary position during the forming process but are partially removed from the die to enable the functional element which is placed on the metal part (212) to be extracted therefrom.
