Abstract: A hinge has a sleeve and a shaft and is mounted between a cover and a base of an electrical device. The sleeve is hollow, is attached to the base and has an internal diameter. The shaft is attached to the cover, is mounted pivotally in the sleeve and has a hollow torsion rod. The torsion rod has an external diameter, an opening end and multiple slots. The external diameter of the torsion rod is bigger than the internal diameter of the sleeve to provide friction. The slots are formed in the torsion rod without communicating with the opening end to provide uniform friction. Because the torsion rod is hollow to provide spaces for the torsion rod to be deformed, the torsion rod maintains its shape. Therefore the torsion rod provides uniform friction with the sleeve.

Abstract: A magnetic head having a spin valve sensor that is fabricated utilizing an Al2O3, NiMnO, NiFeCr seed layer upon which a typical PtMn spin valve sensor layer structure is subsequently fabricated. The preferred embodiment fabrication process of the NiFeCr layer includes the overdeposition of the layer to a first thickness of from 15 ? to 45 ? followed by the etching back of the seed layer of approximately 5 ? to approximately 15 ? to its desired final thickness of approximately 10 ? to 40 ?. The Cr at. % composition in the NiFeCr layer is preferably from approximately 35 at. % to approximately 46 at. %. The crystal structure of the surface of the etched back NiFeCr layer results in an improved crystal structure to the subsequently fabricated spin valve sensor layers, such that the fabricated spin valve exhibits increased ?R/R and reduced coercivity.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a picking arm which may be displaced along a stationary longitudinal guide. A picking head for electrical components may be displaced along a transverse guide on the picking arm by a linear motor. A support for the picking arm embodied as a box-like hollow body is made from plastic reinforced with carbon fiber. The transverse guide and a stator for the linear motor are arranged on a lateral wall of the support. The lateral wall is reinforced by reinforcing elements against local deformations which are caused by the magnetic forces of the linear motor.

Abstract: An LTCC (low temperature cofired ceramic) structure which has conductors to which leads are to be bonded for connection to external circuitry. The conductors include additives to promote adhesion to the ceramic layer. The presence of these additives degrade bonding performance. For better bondability of the leads, a pure conductor metal layer, devoid of the additives is placed on the conductors in areas where leads are to be bonded. This pure conductor metal layer may be cofired with the stack of ceramic layers or may be post fired after stack firing.

Abstract: A thermoplastic carrier sheet is die-cut to have a size and shape matching that of a PEM bipolar plate. A plurality of holes are punched in the carrier sheet in the pattern of gasket beading to be formed subsequently. In a mold, liquid gasket resin fills the mold on both sides of the carrier sheet to form the gasket, flowing through the holes in the sheet and thereby causing the gasket to become mechanically attached to the sheet. A carrier element having a flange portion substantially identical with the outer profile of the bipolar plates is laminated to the sheet edge. During assembly of a fuel cell, the carrier element automatically positions the gasket correctly on the plate and prevents the gasket from twisting or shifting. In a currently preferred embodiment, a membrane electrode assembly is attached within an appropriate opening in the carrier sheet.

Abstract: A method for fabricating a monolithic fluid injection device. The method includes providing a substrate with a patterned sacrificial layer thereon. Next, a patterned support layer and a patterned resistive layer, as a heating element, are formed on the substrate sequentially. A patterned insulating layer having a heating element contact via and a first opening is formed on the support layer. A patterned conductive layer is formed on the support layer and fills the heating element contact via as a signal transmitting circuit. A patterned protective layer having a signal transmitting circuit contact via and a second opening corresponding to the first opening is formed on the substrate. A manifold is formed by wet etching the back of the substrate to expose the sacrificial layer. A chamber is formed by removing the sacrificial layer in the wet etching process. Finally, an opening connecting the chamber is formed by etching the support layer along the second opening.
