Abstract: A sensor control device is connected with a plurality of exhaust sensors including an NOx sensor to be disposed around a catalyst, and is constructed such that a plurality of drive control circuits to be connected in a one-to-one relationship with the individual gas sensors are disposed in one casing. The sensor control device is provided with a communication output section that outputs signals through a digital communication line so that the signal transmissions/receptions with an ECU may be executed through the digital communication line. This digital communication line is physically a one-system cable but can transmit and receive signals of a plurality of kinds with predetermined communication protocols.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a degradation estimating apparatus for an unburned fuel component adsorption catalyst, which is connected with an internal combustion engine and has an unburned fuel component adsorbent and an oxygen storage component. The apparatus includes a degradation estimating unit for making estimation for a degradation of the unburned fuel component adsorption catalyst on the basis of a first term and a second term. The first term that is from the cancellation of the fuel supply to detecting a variation of an upstream side air-fuel ratio occurring due to the increase of the reductant quantity in the exhaust gas. The second term that is from the cancellation of the fuel supply to detecting of a variation of the downstream side air-fuel ratio due to an increase of the reductant quantity.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for regenerating a diesel particulate filter without excessively increasing NO2 emissions. The system includes a fuel delivery device, an oxidation catalyst, and a diesel particulate filter. During a first operational mode, the fuel injection device injects a relatively smaller amount of fuel into the exhaust stream to reduce the capacity of the oxidation catalyst to oxidize NO in the exhaust stream to NO2. At a determined time, a second operational mode is initiated where a relatively larger amount of fuel is injected into the exhaust stream and is oxidized within the oxidation catalyst, thereby raising the exhaust temperature sufficiently to combust substantially all of the soot trapped on the diesel particulate filter.

Abstract: In order to suppress deposition of constituent of a reducing agent (dissolved matter) in an exhaust passage of an engine enhancing an elimination rate of NOx even when temperature of an exhaust emission from the engine is low, an exhaust emission purifying apparatus is provided with an electro-generative-heat carrier provided on an upstream side of an injection nozzle that supplies the reducing agent into the exhaust emission on upstream side of a reduction catalyst in an exhaust pipe, the exhaust emission being heated to a temperature equal to or higher than a melting point of the dissolved matter whereby deposition of the dissolved matter on an inner wall surface of the exhaust pipe is suppressed to effectively use the supplied reducing agent for catalytic reduction reaction, even when the exhaust emission temperature is lower than the melting point of the dissolved matter of the reducing agent.

Abstract: An exhaust purifying apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes execution means, wherein, when an accumulation amount of particulate matter about a catalyst becomes less than a first determination value after a PM elimination control is started, the execution means executes burn-up control. Stopping means stops the PM elimination control based on an end of the burn-up control. Forcibly ending means forcibly ends the burn-up control when time elapsed since the accumulation amount of particulate matter about the catalyst has dropped to a second determination value reaches a predetermined time. Therefore, the exhaust purifying apparatus is capable of completely burning particulate matter in a PM filter, and suppresses degradation of fuel economy.

Abstract: A diesel exhaust treatment system is disclosed that includes first and second diesel particulate reduction devices. The first diesel particulate reduction device is located upstream in the exhaust flow and contains an oxidation catalyst coating. The second particulate reduction device is located downstream from the first particulate reduction device and is generally non-catalyzed or lightly catalyzed. Each particulate reduction device comprises a flow-through fabric-type filtration media with substantial internal turbulence. As exhaust gas passes through the catalyzed upstream particulate reduction device, nitric oxide (NO) is oxidized to form nitrogen dioxide (NO2), a portion of which interacts with the particulate trapped within the upstream diesel particulate reduction device to regenerate the upstream device.
