Abstract: In one embodiment, a sampling device is connected to equipment having a fluid flow path. The sampling device has a chamber that defines a fluid flow path, and has a tubular sampling coupon that is positioned within the chamber. The tubular sampling coupon further defines the fluid flow path. After operating the equipment for a period of time, wherein fluid is caused to flow through the tubular sampling coupon, i) the tubular sampling coupon is removed from the chamber, and ii) first and second parts of the tubular sampling coupon are separated. Prior to separating the first and second parts of the tubular sampling coupon, the first and second parts are mated, and separable, along an axis that is parallel to the fluid flow path. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: A double-walled vacuum insulated container for holding a cryogenic fluid comprises a support system for the inner vessel that comprises at least one elongated metallic conduit that penetrates the walls of the outer vessel and the inner vessel. The conduit itself provides support in an axial direction parallel to a horizontal axis and at least two non-metallic members provide support in a radial direction from the horizontal axis. By requiring the conduit to support only axial loads, its wall thickness can be reduced, thereby reducing heat transfer through the conduit. The non-metallic members that provide support in the radial direction can be made from composite materials selected for structural strength as well as low thermal conductivity, resulting in a container with improved overall thermal insulation to reduce heat leak and allow longer holding times.

Abstract: A socket includes a body having a driving portion, a receiving portion engageable with a rotatable workpiece, a first gear portion capable of being operatively driven by rotation of the driving portion in a fastening direction and an opposite releasing direction, a second gear portion functionally cooperable to drive the receiving portion for rotating the workpiece, the second gear portion being constructed and arranged to engage with and be driven by the first gear portion. The driving engagement between the first gear portion and the second gear portion is released when a torque required to drive the second gear portion exceeds the threshold amount of torque. A biasing member applies a force of engagement between the first gear portion and the second gear portion, and an adjusting member functionally cooperable with the biasing member adjusts a magnitude of the force of engagement to adjust the threshold amount of torque.

Abstract: A torque adaptor includes a body, a driving portion that rotates with respect to the body when a threshold torque is exceeded, a receiving portion engageable with a workpiece, and a gear plate that drives the receiving portion. The gear plate is driven by the driving portion, the driving engagement between the driving portion and the gear plate being released when a torque required to drive the gear plate exceeds the threshold torque. An adjusting member adjusts the force of engagement between the driving portion and the gear plate so as to adjust the threshold torque. The receiving portion is moveable along a longitudinal direction of the body between a first position in which the receiving portion engages the body such that a rotation of the driving portion rotates the receiving portion and the rotatable workpiece and a second position in which the receiving portion is disengaged from the body.

Abstract: A clamp for clamping and sealing a flexible or deformable conduit extending between a supply and a receiving or holding container. The clamp includes upper and lower sections that can be moved from an open to a closed position. In a closed position the clamp engages the flexible tube or conduit and seals the same, thereby preventing fluid from passing past the seal. The clamp includes two half sections, and can be cut and separated such that each half section clamps and seals a portion of the flexible or deformable conduit or tube. In use, the clamp is typically used to clamp and seal a flexible tube, such as a silicon tube extending between a supply and a receiving container of the type employed in handling biopharmaceutical fluids.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for precisely controlled and operator safe removal of a desired width of layered paper from the end of a roll or paper web, as for example a paper roll having one or both ends damaged, employing a compound mount for a knife-blade type cutter which is selectively adjustable along multiple axes relative to the rotational axis and width of the paper roll as the roll is rotated independently of the cutter and without unwinding the paper web from the roll. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, only that quantity of paper web, which is damaged, is removed while maximizing the depth of cut radially into the roll by the cutter.
