  • Patent number: 7127994
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for a low shock separation joint. A first member couples to a first structure and includes surfaces to prevent separation under compressive and tensile force placed on the separation joint. A second member couples to a second structure and includes surfaces corresponding to the surfaces of the first member. The first member is elastically flexed to allow the surfaces of the first and second members to be aligned to one another. The first member is released from flexing which couples the first and second members together. An explosive device is placed within the separation joint. Detonating the explosive device moves the surfaces of the first and second members out of contact with one another decoupling the first and second members. A passive force is applied to accelerate the first and second members away from one another. After detonation the first and second members are intact.

  • Patent number: 7127997
Abstract: The present invention relates to a friction drive conveyor including carriers 1, which can be propelled along a track by frictional wheels 30 fitted along the track. Each frictional wheel 30 can be driven by a brakeless motor 29. A sensor 32 senses whether each frictional wheel 30 is in contact with any one frictional surface 15 of the carriers 1. The track includes a section along which the frictional wheels 30 are supported at regular intervals equal to or slightly shorter than the total length L of the frictional surfaces 15 on each side of each carrier 1. On the basis of a signal output from each sensor 32, a controller 24 so controls the associated brakeless motor 29 as to start rotating the associated frictional wheel 30 in contact with any one frictional surface 15 when the forward next wheel 30 gets free of the frictional surfaces 15, and as to stop driving the frictional wheel 30 having got free of the frictional surfaces 15.

  • Patent number: 7127998
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention move objects throughout two-dimensional and three-dimensional space by using a movement line that is coupled with a plurality of opposing sides of the platform. The movement line is used to control the horizontal axis motion and Z-axis motion of the platform and is designated the horizontal movement line. Displacing a portion of the horizontal movement line allows vertical displacement of the platform to be traversed. There is no need for a complex computer control system since the Z-axis displacement is substantially independent of horizontal movement over a coverage area serviced by the platform. Nested embodiments utilizing one or more rope allow for three-dimensional movement of an object or angular displacement of an object with respect to the vertical axis. A mounting beam for positioning and supporting the Z-axis and horizontal axis motors and visual display element(s) and other optional multimedia devices may also be positioned independently of the platform.

  • Patent number: 7128000
Abstract: The catering display provides an attractive serving setting for sushi and other foods, increasing the visual appeal of the foods. A stepped base provides multiple surface levels so that sushi and other foods can be well displayed, having pieces toward the center of the base elevated rather than hidden by pieces in front. A hollow interior of the stepped base receives an ice tray so that the entire display base can be kept chilled. The chilled base tends to keep the food items fresh for a longer period of time. Ornamental attachments may be secured to the stepped base, to create a more aesthetically pleasing display of sushi or other food items. For example, a miniature “torii gate”, reminiscent of the ancient temples of Japan, may be mounted atop the stepped base. The “torii gate” may be removed, and replaced with other ornamental attachments.

  • Patent number: 7128022
Abstract: A circular litter box having a scoop removal remounted in a scoop holder which is pushed around the sidewall of the box to scoop the box. The mounting mechanism for the scoop causes the scoop to assume a relatively vertical position during scooping, to minimize formation of a wave of litter in front of the scoop as it is rotated, but causes the scoop to assume a more horizontal position as the scoop is removed, so the collected waste will not spill from the scoop during removal.

  • Patent number: 7128024
Abstract: A system and method for measuring an animal includes a light source and an optical source. The light source, which is preferably an array of monochromatic light emitting diodes, at least partially backlights one or more of the animal's legs. The optical sensor or device, which is preferably a single dimension camera or charged-coupled device, opposes the light source and obtains an image that includes silhouettes of one or more legs of the animal. A processor, such as a computer with software and data storage, determines measurements, such as the approximate skeletal trunk length of the animal, from the silhouetted legs in the image. One or more first ultrasound transducers can be arranged to determine an approximate height of the pelvic region, and one or more second ultrasound transducers can be arranged to determine an approximate width of the pelvic region.

Abstract: In a method for controlling the heat in an internal combustion engine for a vehicle with a coolant circuit and actuable devices for influencing the heat balance of the internal combustion engine, wherein a coolant temperature and further operating parameters of the internal combustion engine are recorded, the actuable devices are operated as a function of the coolant temperature and the further operating parameters of the internal combustion engine in such a manner that an output value for determining a control variable is provided by means of a basic characteristic diagram as a function of the rotational speed and the load on the internal combustion engine, and this control value is corrected by means of a controller as a function of the coolant temperature and/or the further operating parameters.

  • Patent number: 7128027
Abstract: A cooling system of an outboard motor provides back and forth flow of water from one side of an exhaust passage to the opposite side in order to avoid the creation of stagnant pools of water within which minerals and debris can collect. This result is accomplished by causing the cooling water to flow back and forth from one side of the exhaust passage to the other so that all portions of the water passages are forced to conduct water through them at a relatively high velocity. A water reservoir is formed between an exhaust conduit and an oil reservoir in order to reduce the operating temperature of the oil within the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 7128029
Abstract: A water-cooled cylinder head is provided for a multicylinder internal-combustion engine having two inlet and outlet valves per cylinder. The cylinder head has a cylinder head cooling space with inflow and outflow openings for the coolant which is integrated in the cylinder head housing and extends above a part-spherical cap forming a combustion chamber volume. Water cooling spaces are formed at least in areas around a receiving opening for a spark plug arranged centrally in the cylinder head housing and around the two outlet valves. The water cooling spaces are mutually connected by way of a common annulus section. At least the common water cooling jacket annulus section has a volume which remains an essentially constant distance from the combustion chamber volume, so that, at least in this area, the wall thickness of the part-spherical combustion chamber cap extends in a uniform manner and to close to the combustion chamber volume.
