  • Patent number: 7156726
Abstract: In one embodiment, a dielectric layer (144, 156) overlying a semiconductor substrate (28) is uniformly polished. During polishing, the perimeter (32) of the semiconductor substrate (28) overlies a peripheral region (16, 48, 66, 86, 120) of a polishing pad (6, 42, 60, 80, 100) and an edge portion (36) of the front surface of semiconductor substrate (28) is not in contact with the front surface (18, 50, 68, 88, 122) of the polishing pad (6, 42, 60, 80, 100), in the peripheral region (16, 48, 66, 86, 120). As a result, the polishing rate at the edge portion (36) of the semiconductor substrate (28) is reduced, and the semiconductor substrate (28) is polished with improved center to edge uniformity. Since the semiconductor substrate (28) is polished with improved center to edge uniformity, die yield is increased because die located within the edge portion (36) of the semiconductor substrate (28) are not over polished.

The random outcome may be, for example, statistically independent of the hand of blackjack. Based on the random outcome, it is determined if the player has won the hand of blackjack. If the player has won, he or she receives payment of a winning amount based on the wager amount.

Abstract: The present invention is directed generally to a method and apparatus for operating a gaming device having a flat rate play session costing a flat rate price. The flat rate play session spans multiple plays on the gaming device over a pre-established duration. The gaming device identifies price parameters and determines the flat rate price of playing the gaming device based on those price parameters. In one embodiment, identifying price parameters includes receiving player selected price parameters. In another embodiment, price parameters further incorporate operator selected price parameters. Should the player decide to pay the flat rate price, the player simply deposits the necessary funds into the gaming device or makes a credit account available for the gaming device to debit. Once the player initiates play, the gaming device tracks the duration remaining in the flat rate play session and stops the play when the given period has elapsed.

Abstract: The present invention provides for an apparatus and method for conveying a bowling pin into a Pin Sock at a bowling alley. This invention stitches a Hardened Inserting into a Pin Sock. The lip of the Hardened Insert extends beyond the end of output exit of the Pin Sock. Moreover, the output exit of the Pin Sock is larger than traditional Pin Socks. The insertion of a Hardening Insert makes the Pin Sock, and in particular the lower end of the Pin Sock more durable against the constant wear and tear caused by bowling pins entering the sock from an Overflow Chute. By reducing this wear and tear, the bowling pins exiting the Pin Sock would cause less damage to the Transport Band where the pins are deposited after exiting the Pin Sock. Additionally, the enlarged output exit reduces the possibility of pin jams as compared to traditional Pin Socks.
