  • Patent number: 7156650
Abstract: A device for removing an injection-molded substrate with attached sprue from an injection mold having half-molds, in particular a substrate for optical data carriers, includes a lever that can swing in and out of a position between the half-molds of the injection mold and is constructed to include a substrate retaining mechanism with a substrate retaining member with a recess or an opening sized to hold the substrate and configured to receive the sprue with a pass fit. The substrate retaining member secures the substrate in place as the lever swings in and out of the open half-molds. An injection molding machine using the device is also described. The substrate can be quickly demolded and the sprue removed in a single operation without producing dust in the mold.

  • Patent number: 7156651
Abstract: An improved injection molding apparatus having a valve-gated injection nozzle for regulating a flow of molten material through a connecting passageway to a mold cavity. An end portion of the valve stem is configured to cooperate with a complementary sealing portion of the connecting passageway, when the valve stem is configured in a closed position. The mold cavity further includes a vestige forming portion that is located adjacent the sealing portion that is partially defined by a bottom portion of the valve stem when it is configured in the closed position. The apparatus is characterized in that the vestige forming portion extends radially outwardly from the sealing portion such that a first cross-sectional area of the sealing portion is smaller than a second cross-sectional area of the vestige forming portion. Accordingly, tearing along the vestige of the part is substantially avoided.

  • Patent number: 7156654
Abstract: A force adjusting mechanism for an orthodontic appliance wherein the appliance functions to move teeth and/or to expand the dental arch. The mechanism includes a shaft operatively coupled at opposite ends between a first portion of the appliance which is anchored in the patient's dental arch and a second portion of the appliance which applies force to one or more of the patient's teeth. A lock is slidable along the shaft to compress a spring between the lock and the second portion of the appliance. Co-operating structures on the shaft and on the lock provide a unidirectional ratchet movement of the lock along the shaft. Thus, the lock may be advanced one step at a time in one direction only, preferably manually using an implement for engaging the lock, to compress the spring to apply force to one or more of the patient's teeth. Advantageously, this may be done by the patient or a parent or guardian without the need for an office visit to a clinician.

Abstract: In a connector comprised of a plug and a receptacle, displacement of the plug against the receptacle is lessened so that the plug is prevented to contact with a non corresponding post among the posts of the receptacle, and aligning portions of the plug and the receptacle are prevented from damage even when a force is applied obliquely when the plug is pulled out from the receptacle. For the purpose, guiding portions and guided portions are formed on members made of a metal such as shells for shielding electric noise among members constituting the plug and the receptacle. The guiding portions are a pair of grooved notches formed substantially parallel to an inserting/removing direction of the plug, and the guided portions are protrusions of substantially rectangular formed in the inserting/removing direction of the plug.

  • Patent number: 7156686
Abstract: A splice connector includes a first IDC terminal, a second IDC terminal, a body receiving the first and second IDC terminals, and a cover connected to the body such that the cover selectively slides with respect to the body in the first linear direction from first position to a second position. The body defines a first seat configured to receive an associated first cable and second seat configured to receive an associated second cable that is to be electrically connected to the associated first cable. The first and second IDC terminals each include a portion that extends into a region adjacent a respective wire seat. The cover is configured to cooperate with the body where a portion of the cover engages a portion of the body at a third position between the first position and the second position such that in the third position movement of the cover with respect to the body in a second direction, which is opposite the first, is inhibited.

  • Patent number: 7156690
Abstract: An extruded metal connector that does not require an insulating layer in the channels is disclosed. Further an extruded metal connector that does not require and IPCB is also disclosed. The connector includes a metallic extruded housing having one or more connector channels formed therein during extrusion. The one or more connector channels have first and second ends and channel walls. The connector also includes a singular or plurality of pin guides each with a central aperture and each operatively coupled to a corresponding channel. An intermediate printed circuit board (IPCB) or other such member having one or more spaced apart first electrical contact pins serves to hold the connector pins within the connector channels and away from the channel walls by the IPCB at the first end of the channel.

  • Patent number: 7156692
Abstract: A lifting and anti torque lifting means to be attached to a clamp or other end termination of a temporary conductor. In power distribution services the most common use of such a temporary conductor is a grounding set which is used to provide a conductive path between power lines as a safety ground. The lifting means may be a separate retro fit assembly or may be made integral with grounding clamps or other end terminations. The lifting means allows the grounding clamp to be lifted into position with relatively light extendable long reach poles commonly used by lineman. The anti torque feature helps resist the tendency for the end terminations to cam off the line or other object the clamp has been placed on while the clamp is closed or opened. A second hook attached to the conductor proximate to a first end termination cooperates with a first hook of the lifting means in order to hang other end terminations of the conductor set.

Abstract: A termination assembly for a coaxial cable is made up of an extension tip which receives the inner conductor pin on the cable, and an adapter having a slotted end surrounds an outer jacket as well as an exposed end of the outer conductor and is compressed into firm engagement with the jacket, all as a preliminary to inserting the assembly into a standard sized connector body and avoid creating impedance which will downgrade the signal passing through the cable into the connector. Color bands are utilized to signify the intended application of the connector to a particular application as well as to represent the cable size for which the connector body is designed.

Abstract: Resilient deformation of a rubber plug (13) can be absorbed by a housing-side groove (28A) and a holder-side groove (28B) formed to surround all wire insertion holes (24), thereby preventing the displacements of the wire insertion holes (24). Thus, a reduction in operability at the time of inserting female terminal fittings (12) and wires (20) through the rubber plug (13) can be avoided. Further, a housing-side pressing portion (22A) and a holder-side pressing portion (22B) are pressed into the housing-side groove (28A) and the holder-side groove (28B) over the entire periphery to press the rubber plug (13) into contact with the inner surface of an accommodation recess (21), sealability between a housing (11) and the rubber plug (13) can be ensured.
