  • Patent number: 7198028
Abstract: A control system for a low cost, light duty combustion engine, where the control system generally utilizes an engine speed input signal and independent operating sequences to determine a desired ignition timing. There are several independent operating sequences, each one of which is designed to optimally control the engine under certain conditions. These operating sequences include a Cranking sequence, a Warm Up sequence, a Normal Mode sequence, an Acceleration sequence, a Come Down sequence, a Recovery Bump sequence, and a Part Throttle sequence. During idling conditions, the Normal Mode sequence uses rapid changes in the ignition timing to maintain the engine speed in a small, idle engine speed range. By utilizing these operational sequences, the control system improves the performance of a low cost, light duty engine across a wide array of conditions.

  • Patent number: 7198030
Abstract: An internal combustion engine is operated with a predetermined fixed A/F ratio in an operating range where the amount of intake air is not larger than a predetermined value but, in an operating range where the amount of intake air is larger than the predetermined value, the internal engine is operated with a variable lean A/F ratio which increases from the fixed A/F ratio as the amount of intake air increases. To achieve this, in a throttle valve (7a) whose opening is controlled based on a signal from an accelerator pedal position sensor (17), control is performed so that the correspondence ratio between the accelerator pedal position and the throttle valve opening increases as the A/F ratio increases. In the operating range where the engine is operated with a variable lean A/F ratio, the amount of intake air is increased by using a turbocharger (2).

  • Patent number: 7198033
Abstract: A high-pressure pump is formed with a secondary suction passage, which branches from a fuel suction passage and communicates with a pump chamber. Check valves for preventing a backflow of fuel are disposed respectively in the secondary suction passage and a discharge passage. An electromagnetic valve for regulating a fuel discharge quantity is disposed in the fuel suction passage. Normal control for controlling the fuel discharge quantity by controlling opening timing and closing timing of the electromagnetic valve with respect to reciprocating movement of a plunger is performed when an engine rotation speed is higher than a predetermined value during operation of an engine. Valve closing control for holding the electromagnetic valve at a closed state is performed when the engine rotation speed is equal to or lower than the predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 7198036
Abstract: A system and method for increasing the horsepower and torque provided by an internal combustion engine involve the use of a vortex tube to provide cooled air to the air intake of the engine. The system utilizes a source of compressed air such as provided by a compressor and air tank. The compressed air is injected into the vortex tube producing a heated stream of air and a cooled stream of air. The cooled stream of air is directed into the intake of the engine. The system enhances the air flow and drops the induction air temperature into the engine. An air valve may be used to control the flow of compressed air into the vortex tube.

  • Patent number: 7198037
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculation cooler, typically of the drawn cup design, with a bypass and control valve is disclosed. The control valve can direct a proportion of the exhaust gas to the cooler and a proportion to bypass the cooler depending on the input temperature of the exhaust gas and the required temperature of the exhaust gas. The proportion of the exhaust gas directed to the cooler/bypassing the cooler can be varied as required and so the temperature of the exhaust gas can be controlled. One benefit of certain embodiments of the invention is that engine damaging chemicals, such as sulphuric acid, which result from over-cooling the exhaust gas are reduced.

  • Patent number: 7198039
Abstract: A valve control device corrects a change rate of an opening degree of a valve in accordance with engine rotation speed when deposit elimination operation is performed. The valve control device corrects an inclination between a positive maximum opening degree and a negative maximum opening degree of the valve in accordance with the engine rotation speed when the deposit elimination operation is performed. Thus, when the engine rotation speed is low and a noise accompanying the deposit elimination operation becomes more audible, the change rate of the opening degree of the valve is reduced. As a result, the noise accompanying the deposit elimination operation is reduced and annoyance for vehicle occupants is reduced.

  • Patent number: 7198043
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for extending diamond tool life in diamond machining of materials that chemically react with the diamond tool in which the surface electric potential of the workpiece is adjusted or tuned to be adequate to inhibit the chemical reaction between the diamond tool and the workpiece during the diamond machining operation. As the chemical reaction is inhibited, the chemical wear rate of the diamond tool is reduced and diamond tool life is extended. Abstract: A water control fixture having an operating valve and a thermostatically controlled bypass valve disposed in the fixture for bypassing water away from the fixture until the water temperature reaches a desired level. When pressurized water from the hot water heater reaches the desired temperature level at the fixture, the bypass valve closes and hot water is made available to the fixture. The bypass valve has a thermal actuator element that is thermally responsive to the temperature of the water. The fixture can have a housing with an interior chamber for operatively receiving the bypass valve. Various passages or channels can be provided to facilitate communication between the bypass valve and the water supply lines. Alternatively, the bypass valve can be positioned in the operating valve, including the moveable ball and the replaceable cylindrical valving cartridge types. A system using the in-fixture bypass valve is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7198060
Abstract: A decompression valve assembly is normally open thereby allowing thermal pressure build-up in an auxiliary circuit to be dissipated via a bleed path. During operation, the bleed path is sealed by a check valve, whereby high pressure flow can be fully directed to the work tool powered by the auxiliary circuit, for high system efficiency. In addition, a velocity fuse feature limits the rate of flow to the bleed path, thereby to allow for controlled release of pressure from the auxiliary circuit, as is desirable to protect against a rapidly falling load.

Abstract: A housing of a multi-path joint is divided into a plurality of blocks in correspondence with the number of lead-in ports, and a reverse-stop valve for preventing mixed fluid in the main path from flowing backward is provided between the lead-in ports and the main path. Each of the plurality of blocks formed by dividing the housing is provided with a connecting section for positioning when joining to adjacent blocks, and a holding unit is provided for connecting all the blocks in their respective connecting sections and maintaining a connected state between them. According to this multi-path joint, mixed fluid which flowing along the main path, does not flow backward to lead-in ports, and therefore, the atmosphere in the lead-in ports is stabilized. In addition, the multi-path joint is highly functional, being speedily adaptable to the number and shape of the paths on the lead-in port side.

Abstract: A papermaker's fabric, usable in a forming section of a paper machine, having a first layer formed of a first system of paired machine-direction (MD) warp yarns interwoven with a first system of cross machine-direction (CD) weft yarns and a second layer formed of a second system of MD warp yarns interwoven with a second system of CD weft yarns. The paired MD warp yarns are intrinsic to the first layer and are interwoven with the second system of CD weft yarns to bind the second layer to the first layer. The second system of MD warp yarns forms long floats, or warp-runners, on an external surface of the second layer. In this manner, a triple layer forming fabric with paired intrinsic binders and warp-runners may be produced with improved wear side abrasion resistance.
