Abstract: Methods and apparatus for sensing pressure in a hostile environment are described. In one example embodiment, a microwave radar based sensor is provided. The sensor is coupled to a signal conditioning unit. The signal conditioning unit includes at least one of a processor configured to determine a sensor value and a memory having pre-stored values therein, the pre-stored values representing possible sensor values. Each pre-stored value is assigned a respective pressure. The method includes operating the signal conditioning unit to sample a signal generated by the sensor, operating the signal conditioning unit to correlate a characteristic of the sampled signal to a pre-stored value having an assigned pressure, and operating the signal conditioning unit to generate a signal representative of the assigned pressure of the pre-stored value that is correlated to the sampled signal.

Abstract: A system and a method for measuring properties and health of structures are disclosed. The system comprises a number of sensors connected to a single antenna. Each sensor has a body that defines an electromagnetic resonator. The electromagnetic resonator produces a response signal in response to an interrogation signal. The body is coupled to the structure to so as to allow the parameters of interest alter the resonance properties of the electromagnetic resonators thereby altering the response signal. The sensor further includes a coupler that is coupled to the body. The coupler transfers the interrogation signal into the electromagnetic resonator and transfers the response signal from the electromagnetic resonator. The system further includes an interrogator that generates and transmits the interrogation signal to the sensor. The interrogator also receives the response signal.

Abstract: A worktable includes a frame pivotally attached to a housing, a holder pivotally attached to the frame, a saw blade having a spindle rotatably attached to the holder for cutting one or more work pieces, and a guide member attached to the spindle of the saw blade, for engaging with and for guiding the work piece after being cut by the saw blade. A casing is secured to the frame and includes an outlet for coupling to a vacuum device. A follower is pivotally attached to the casing, for adjustably supporting the guide member, to allow the guide member to be adjusted relative to the frame and the housing. A shield may be attached to the guide member, for shielding the saw blade, and may be coupled to a vacuum device.

Abstract: An initial note series is collected from a real-time source of musical input material such as a keyboard or a sequencer playing back musical data, or extracted from musical data stored in memory. The initial note series may be altered to create variations of the initial note series using various mathematical operations. The resulting altered note series, or other data stored in memory is read out according to one or more patterns. The patterns may have steps containing pools of independently selectable items from which random selections are made. A pseudo-random number generator is employed to perform the random selections during processing, where the random sequences thereby generated have the ability to be repeated at specific musical intervals. The resulting musical effect may additionally incorporate a repeated effect, or a repeated effect can be independently performed from input notes in the musical input material.

Abstract: To avoid mechanical and thermodynamic wear of a programming system, a microwave transmitter, preferably operating in the GHz range, is integrated in the system, while at the same time the advantages of measurement of the muzzle velocity and of a current compensated fuse setting are preserved. The microwave transmitter transmits the current fuse setting, for example, as determined by a fire control computer, to the ammunition, e.g., a projectile. A direct measurement of the actual muzzle velocity itself can be dispensed with, since the real muzzle velocity is determined by the current flight velocity information of the projectile, i.e., it is extrapolated back from this. On the basis of this current projectile velocity, the ignition time, which was preset with the ignition time of the projectile using a standard muzzle velocity, is corrected and used as the current fuse set time.
