Patent number: 7219558Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of correlating a fluid flow rate by strategically measuring a differential pressure of a fluid. Embodiments of the present invention build off a simple concept of applying an aerodynamic device into a flow stream in conjunction with a flow concentrator and measuring fluid pressure at two locations on the aerodynamic device. The flow meter has not moving parts other than used for making tuning adjustments in some embodiments. A central design approach with the present invention is that each component can be adjusted relative to the other. Unlike prior systems that utilize a necked-down region of a fluid passage, the current system increases fluid velocities around a centralized flow element with the aid of an aerodynamic flow horn. Head losses are minimized through this approach.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2006Date of Patent: May 22, 2007Assignee: Bowman Industry & Manufacturing LLCInventors: John Lloyd Bowman, Ross Justin Snider

Patent number: 7219560Abstract: A method of correcting for overspin in a turbine meter is provided. The turbine meter has turbine rotors positioned in a pipe in which liquid passes therethrough. The turbine rotors rotate in response to movement of the liquid passing through the pipe and sensors mounted proximate thereto count each passage of a rotor by providing an electronic pulse to a microprocessor. The microprocessor calculates the frequency of the electronic pulses which is directly proportional to the total quantity of liquid passing therethrough. If the microprocessor detects a rapid decrease in the frequency of the electronic pulses from the one or more sensors, it begins storing the frequency data therein. The microprocessor determines whether the decrease is due to a total shut off of liquid flowing or to a slow down of said flow. If a slowdown, the stored frequencies are used to compute the total quantity flowing through said pipe. If a shut down, the stored frequencies are deleted and not used to calculate total frequency.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2004Date of Patent: May 22, 2007Assignee: Flow Dynamics, Inc.Inventors: Paul D. Patent number: 7219596Abstract: A coffee brewer includes a drawer having an upper cartridge shell and a lower cartridge shell that enclose a coffee cartridge. Before the drawer is opened, an operator pulls an arm to rotate the upper cartridge shell relative to the lower cartridge shell. As the drawer is pulled, a slidable track moves relative to a fixed track, and the upper cartridge shell is biased upwardly. An ejector arm on the coffee brewer engages an ejector blade on the lower cartridge shell and biases the lower coffee shell downwardly to eject the used coffee cartridge into a used cartridge bin. As the drawer continues to open, the lower cartridge shell returns to the original position. A new coffee cartridge can then be added to the lower cartridge shell. The drawer is then closed and the brewing process can begin.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2004Date of Patent: May 22, 2007Assignee: Carrier Commerical Refrigeration, Inc.Inventor: Eugene Richardson Kief, Jr.
