Abstract: The vacuum contact drying takes place in a device with a horizontally-arranged heated cylinder (1), a stirrer circulating with a very small wall separation, a blade (4) arranged on the stirrer and optionally an injection line (6), also arranged on the stirrer, for the introduction of liquid, gaseous, or vaporized media. According to the invention, the drying may be controlled whereby the value for the product temperature, the vacuum and the instantaneous evaporation power are continuously measured and regulated on the basis of the measured values.

  • Patent number: 7219444
Abstract: An article of footwear, such as a snowboard boot liner, made of deformable material has a rear tensioning system for reducing the volume of the footwear in the heel region. The footwear has a front tensioning system, such as a front lace, for closing an opening in the front of the footwear. A channeling element is positioned over the heel and a control element is secured to the footwear a distance away from the channeling element, for example, over the ankle or instep. A draw, such as a rear lace, winds through both the channeling element and the control element. Tightening the draw urges the control element toward the channeling element thereby reducing the volume of the footwear in the heel region. The draw may be tightened and locked independently or may have an eyelet through which a loop of the front lace may pass in order to transfer tensile forces from the front lace to the draw and maintain tension in the draw.

  • Patent number: 7219445
Abstract: The invention relates to an attachment mechanism and system used to accessorize, ustomize and/or personalize footwear with interchangeable uppers or straps, especially open shoes and sandals. More particularly, this invention presents a safe, secure and easy system for the attachment and detachment of shoe uppers and straps to shoes and sandals. This invention allows both the manufacturer and wearer to promote and display fashion and theme material of their own choosing, with the freedom to change the material or message without having to change footwear. The invention comprises a releasable fastener that connects a retainer, secured with the sole of the footwear, to an upper or strap. The releasable fastener is comprised of an upper and lower bar or metal loop, each loop carried on a barrel, the barrels interlocking with each other in a sliding engagement and held in the closed or engaged position by a magnet or by a biasing member.

  • Patent number: 7219449
Abstract: A method for controlling footwear, comprising cushioning a transient force during use of the footwear at a first period of a gait cycle, storing energy from said cushioning, and releasing the stored energy during use of the footwear at a second period of the gait cycle, and after said transient force has subsided. The control can be electronic, mechanical or hydraulic, and is preferably dependent on a sensed gait cycle phase. The control may be adaptive to the user or the use of the footwear. The stored energy can be used to assist in locomotion, to generate electrical energy, to drive a heat pump, or simply dissipated.

  • Patent number: 7219450
Abstract: An exemplary shoe support system is provided to facilitate a support of an ankle of a foot. The support system can include a sole inliner, a coupling, a back inliner, and an upper. The coupling allows movement between the sole inliner to the back inliner, while the upper adjustably secures the sole inliner and back inliner to the foot. The upper, the sole inliner, the coupling, and the back inliner are operable to resist lateral movement of the ankle while permitting dorsiflexion and plantar flexion movement in the foot, and can be configured for integration within a shoe or serve as the shoe. In another configuration, the support system can include a cover, which surrounds the upper, the sole inliner, the coupling, and the back inliner. Additionally, a biasing member can be incorporated with the coupling to urge a predetermined angle between the sole inliner and back inliner.

Abstract: A trench wheel has a relatively thicker wheel center and gradually tapering side walls that produce a thinner wheel as distance from the hub increases. The wheel center is preferably fabricated from stamped metal into a hat or thimble shape, and has a skirt or brim attached thereto which assists with the retention of an elastomeric outer wheel to the wheel center. Special adapter plates are illustrated which, in combination with the wheel center, permits mounting to both front and rear axles of all popular all-terrain vehicles. A method of controlling water in a field using the trench wheels on a vehicle includes cultivating, planting, and traversing the field to displace earthen matter and thereby channel the field.
