Publication number: 20070114119Abstract: The invention is a system and method for neutralizing fluid chemical waste products that result from a chemical production process and are collected from the production line. The invention comprises a pyrolysis/reaction chamber into which the fluid chemical waste is pumped through an atomizer. The jet of small droplets of liquid waste that is formed by the atomizer effectively contacts the plasma stream created by a plasma torch. When the droplets contact the plasma stream the molecules of the waste from which the droplets are composed are dissociated into atoms and/or ions. These atoms and ions move out of the immediate region of the plasma stream and recombine to form a mixture of product gases which exits the chamber. The product gases then enter a post-pyrolysis subsystem, which is designed to neutralize and/or collect the components comprising the mixture of product gases.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2005Publication date: May 24, 2007Inventor: Yehuda Simon

Publication number: 20070114156Abstract: A process for the selective hydrodesulfurization of olefinic naphtha streams containing a substantial amount of organically bound sulfur and olefins. The olefinic naphtha stream is selectively desulfurized in a first hydrodesulfurization reaction stage. This effluent stream is then contacted with a stripping agent in a H2S removal zone, such as steam or an amine solution, to remove H2S from the effluent stream, thereby reducing the H2S partial pressure of the process stream. The process stream is then subjected to a second desulfurization reaction stage followed by a mercaptan decomposition stage to reduce the content of mercaptan sulfur in the final product stream. In a second embodiment, the effluent stream from the first hydrodesulfurization reaction stage, after being subjected to the H2S removal zone, is fed directly to the mercaptan decomposition stage where total sulfur content and mercaptan sulfur content are reduced in the final product stream.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 23, 2005Publication date: May 24, 2007Inventors: John Greeley, Edward Ellis, Thomas Halbert, William Tracy, Jeffrey Dysard

Publication number: 20070114157Abstract: A screening apparatus for screening pulp suspensions is disclosed, comprising a housing, a screen basket having a tubular mantle wall with screen apertures, the mantle wall dividing the interior of the housing into a central chamber and an outer substantially annular chamber, and a rotor arranged in the housing for providing pressure and suction pulses in the suspension to be screened along the mantle wall. At least one elongated support element connects the screen basket to the housing and at least one load sensor is arranged on the support element for sensing the load exerted by the screen basket on the support element during operation of the apparatus. A control unit controls at least one operating parameter, such as the consistency of the suspension or rotational speed of the rotor, during operation in response to signals from the load sensor.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2004Publication date: May 24, 2007Applicant: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventor: Börje Fredriksson

Publication number: 20070114160Abstract: A fuel filter having a filter housing of an internal combustion engine in which water separated from the fuel may collect within the filter is to permit collection of the largest possible quantity of separated water in the smallest possible overall volume. To this end, such a fuel filter is characterized by the following features: a liquid line (3) leads out of an area of the filter housing that is exposed to fuel and in which separated water can settle out due to gravity into a water collecting chamber (4) situated outside the filter housing, an upper area of the water collecting chamber (4) is connected by a connecting line (5) mounted there to a fuel delivery line (1) of the internal combustion engine.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2005Publication date: May 24, 2007Inventors: Riccardo Giolitti, Dierk Hoffmann, Thomas Weiser

Publication number: 20070114161Abstract: In a system for combined centrifugation and microfiltration, retentate from a cross-flow microfilter is fed to an automatic piston discharge centrifuge for solids removal, thereby enhancing the efficiency of both processes. The centrifuge includes a cylindrical bowl having a conical lower end with an opening through which feed liquid is injected. Solids separate from the feed liquid and accumulate along the inner surface of the bowl as the bowl rotates at high speed. A microfiltration membrane can be added to improve solids retention in the bowl and provide a filtered centrate. During solids discharge, a piston is urged downward along a vertical axis. The downward movement of the piston forces accumulated solids from the bowl via the opening in the conical lower end thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2006Publication date: May 24, 2007Inventor: Robert Carr

Publication number: 20070114162Abstract: A pumping system includes a pump for moving water. In one aspect, this is in connection with performance of an operation. The system includes a variable speed motor operatively connected to drive the pump. A value indicative of flow rate of water is determined and the motor is controlled to adjust the flow rate indicative value toward a constant. A value indicative of flow pressure is determined and the motor is controlled to adjust the flow pressure indicative value toward a constant. A selection is made between flow rate control and flow pressure control. In another aspect, the pump is controlled to perform a first operation, and is operated to perform a second water operation. Control of operation of the pump to perform the first water operation is altered in response to operation of the pump to perform the second operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 23, 2005Publication date: May 24, 2007Applicants: Pentair Water Pool and Spa, Inc., Danfoss Low Power Drives, a division of Danfoss Drive A/SInventors: Robert Stiles, Lars Berthelsen, Ronald Robol, Christopher Yahnker, Everett Cox, Donald Steen, Kevin Murphy, Walter Woodcock, Daniel Hruby, Peter Westermann-Rasmussen, Gert Kjaer, Einar Runarsson, Arne Hansen, Alberto Morando, Florin Lungeanu, Nils-Ole Harvest
