Abstract: A Real-Time Protocol (RTP) source node of a network operates to send a first data packet of a first size to a destination node over a path of the network that includes a plurality of intermediate nodes, at least one of the intermediate nodes having a maximum transmission unit (MTU) size smaller than the first size such that fragmentation of the first data packet occurs. The destination node sends back to the source node a RTCP report that includes a number of fragments received and a largest minimum data packet size. In response, the source node sends subsequent data packets having a second size less than or equal to the largest data packet size of the fragments. Abstract: A network device and a method of handling a frame in a network device defining a common header for each rule in a rules table of a search engine, wherein the common header comprises a source port specifying a corresponding rule to be applied to a port or ports, and a frame format specifying a format applied to the corresponding rule. A port receives a frame, with the frame having multiple field values. A pre-parser parses the received frame to obtain the field values and corresponding slices. A search engine receives the slices and determines matches between the slices and the common header of each rule in the rules table. A policy table performs indexing based on the determined matches to obtain an action entry. An action resolution takes an action based on the obtained action entry.

Abstract: A multi-level lookup table includes a plurality of search levels with each search level including a plurality of subtrees, each subtree representing a plurality of nodes. A search of the multi-level lookup table for an entry corresponding to a search key results in a value stored in an entry associated with the node in a subtree. A default value is associated with the root of the subtree. Multiple entries for the subtree can store the default value. To minimize route update time, the default value associated with the subtree is stored in a single location. Instead of storing the default value in multiple entries, each entry stores a use default indicator to indicate that the default value stored in the single location is to be used. To further reduce the number of locations to modify to update the default route, the single location can store an inherit indicator to indicate that the default value for the subtree is inherited from another subtree.

Abstract: Roughly described, a network interface device is assigned a maximum extent-of-search. A hash function is applied to the header information of each incoming packet, to generate a hash code for the packet. The hash code designates a particular subset of the table within which the particular header information should be found, and an iterative search is made within that subset. If the search locates a matching entry before the search limit is exceeded, then the incoming data packet is delivered to the receive queue identified in the matching entry. But if the search reaches the search limit before a matching entry is located, then device delivers the packet to a default queue, such as a kernel queue, in the host computer system. The kernel is then responsible for delivering the packet to the correct endpoint.

Abstract: A communication apparatus is connected to a transmission host that generates a header and a packet body data for generating a packet, and performs a packet communication with outside via a network. A receiving unit receives the header and the packet body data from the transmission host in a separate manner. An accumulating unit accumulates received header and packet body data. A packet generating unit generates the packet by coupling accumulated header and packet body data.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program for re-allocating a hybrid automatic repeat request HARQ process is described where a Node B initiates HARQ re-allocation by sending to a radio network controller RNC a RL PARAMETER UPDATE INDICATION message that includes at least one of a HARQ process allocation for 2 ms non-scheduled transmission NST GRANT information element IE and a HARQ process allocation for 2 ms scheduled transmission ST GRANT IE indicating a value for HARQ process re-allocation. The Node B then receives from the RNC a RL RECONFIGURATION PREPARE or REQUEST message that contains the NST or ST GRANT IE. Responsive to receiving the RL RECONFIGURATION PREPARE or REQUEST message, the Node B sends to the RNC a RL RECONFIGURATION READY or RESPONSE message, then receives from the RNC a RL RECONFIGURATION COMMIT message. Responsive to the COMMIT message, the Node B re-allocates the HARQ process according to the RL RECONFIGURATION PREPARE or REQUEST message.

Abstract: A communication system includes a source PNNI node. The system includes a destination PNNI node. The system includes a network having logical group nodes representing peer groups through which the source node and the destination node communicate by establishing an SPVC using a DTL which identifies the group nodes representing the peer groups with only a partial node ID. A method for communicating includes the steps of forming a DTL which identifies logical group nodes representing peer groups with only a partial node ID. There is the step of establishing an SPVC using the DTL through which a source PNNI node and a destination PNNI node of a network communicate.

Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for guaranteeing QoS using end-to-end CAC in an Internet service network. The method includes the steps of: (a) performing a subscriber domain CAC by querying a subscriber DB to determine whether to admit a call based on available bandwidth information of a subscriber when a subscriber terminal requests resource reservation; (b) performing a network domain CAC by querying a resource DB based on a result of the subscriber domain CAC to determine whether a resource required for service can be reserved or not; and (c) updating reserved bandwidth information and available bandwidth information of a subscriber domain in the subscriber DB and resource use information of a network domain in the resource DB when the resource reservation is completed through the steps (a) and (b).

Abstract: A method for communicating data in a network environment is provided that includes receiving a request from an end user for a communications link, the request being used to initiate a communication session. A response is then received that is communicated to the end user in order to establish the communication session, the response being generated by a network node that was selected as a result of a loadbalancing decision. Port-level filtering for the communication session may then be invoked after the response such that separate data and signal pathways are established for selected information associated with the communication session.

A route for the end-to-end demand in the telecommunication network is determined using a hubbing-and-grooming algorithm. The hubbing-and-grooming algorithm constrains which one or more links are eligible to be considered in determining the route based on the category of the end-to-end demand.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for communications of a UE using an IP address in a mobile communication system are provided. When the UE moves from an old subnet managed by an old gateway to a new subnet managed by a new gateway, the UE determines whether there are allocated radio resources. In the absence of the allocated radio resources, the UE determines whether an IP-based application service is in progress. If the IP-based application service is in progress, the UE determines to reuse an old IP address in the new subnet. If the IP-based application service is not in progress, the UE determines to use a new IP address in the new subnet. Then the UE sends to the new gateway an RAU request message including an indication indicating whether the old IP address or the new IP address will be used in the new subnet.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and a method for providing a concurrent data service to an Mobile Station (MS) through a plurality of heterogeneous networks. In a method for providing a data service to an MS through different wireless networks, the MS measures channel qualities of at least one accessible wireless network and reports the measured channel qualities to an Internet Protocol (IP) packet controller. The IP packet controller selects wireless networks for data transmission on the basis of the reported channel qualities, distributes data destined for the MS, and transmits the distributed data to the selected wireless networks. The selected wireless networks receive the data from the IP packet controller and transmits the received data to the MS. The MS combines and interprets the data received from the selected wireless networks. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a seamless data service to the MS in service environments with a mixture of different wireless communication systems.
