Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for improved data transmission control protocols. Acknowledgment streams are used by a sender process to generate various estimates of eligible transmission rates that are fair to other processes competing for bandwidth across a common network. In addition, the acknowledgment streams are used in conjunction with various other standard transmission control protocol metrics to adapt a filter for use on the rate estimates. Additional improvements in throughput may no be had by measuring the overall capacity of the computer network using packet pair dispersion measurements and adaptive network probing. In addition, the methods may be adapted for both packet transmission and video streaming applications.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for selecting radio resources for a communication session in a wireless communication terminal. In order to facilitate the selection of quality of service between diversified terminals, terminal capabilities are described by a set of capability parameters, the set including at least one parameter indicative of the terminal's capabilities. Based on the set of capability parameters, a dedicated quality class set is defined for an application instance residing in the terminal, the quality class set including at least one quality class for the application instance. When a session is to be established between at least two application instances residing respectively in at least two terminals, at least one quality class is negotiated for the session, the at least one quality class being determined based on the dedicated quality class sets of the at least two application instances. Based on the negotiation, radio resources are then allocated for the session.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate performing interference management techniques between sending and receiving nodes in order to provide minimum transmission rate guarantees. Carrier-to-interference ratio (C/I) may be controlled by employing specialized resource utilization messages (RUMs), the number and rate of which may be governed by a “token bucket” mechanism. For instance, a maximum token bucket size may be defined for a node, which describes the maximum amount of data that may pass through the node at a given time. A current number of tokens in the node's bucket may be evaluated and compared to a threshold value, and RUMs may be transmitted by the node as long as the current token number is greater than the predefined threshold value. Tokens may additionally be deducted from the node's bucket for successful data transmissions, thus providing a dynamic interference control mechanism.

Abstract: The present invention provides a technology including, for example, a packet relay processing section to carry out packet relay, a packet sampling section to carry out packet sampling, a flow statistics counting section to take statistics of each flow, and a flow statistics generating section to generate a NetFlow export datagram, wherein the flow statistics counting section collectively counts the number of the packets or bytes received per unit time when the number does not exceed a threshold value and individually counts the number for each flow when the number exceeds the threshold value, and thereby a flow of abnormal traffic which is suspected to be DoS attack is efficiently detected with small amounts of resources (mainly memories).

Abstract: The present invention discloses a route service device and a method and a system for realizing call route by the device, in which, route service device and soft switch control device are networked in a layered way, the soft switch control device is the node of the lowest layer, when the user route changes, the soft switch control device reports route information including user node to the father node; the route service device performs registration, and broadcasts the changed route information to the father node, each related route service device performs registration and broadcast by the same way; when calling across domains, the soft switch control device where the calling locates initiates inquiry toward the father node, and receives the returned inquiring result, therefore routing the call to the soft switch control device where the called locates.

Abstract: Tables of connectivity between nodes of two discrete types can be generated for edge nodes existing at the periphery of a network of nodes. Connectivity queries are initiated at one of an interior node type and then traverse in a first direction towards one edge node type and then in a second direction towards the other edge node type. The traversals to the second edge node type are skipped if it is determined that there is no connectivity to the nodes on the first type of edge nodes. In addition, check tables of known connectivity between node types may be populated so that the same connectivity traversal is not attempted more than once. The number of connectivity traversals and the associated time costs can be significantly reduced when compared to conventional connectivity mapping techniques.

Abstract: Provided is a channel mode converting method of a wireless portable Internet system. When a diversity channel mode is converted into an Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) channel mode, a radio resource for transmitting Channel Quality Information (CQI) is allocated without responding to a resource allocation request and a request between a terminal and an access point. Therefore, a delay time can be reduced on the channel mode conversion. In addition, a CQI channel for transmitting the existing channel quality information is released and a CQI channel for a new channel is allocated on the channel mode conversion. As a result, a time for changing the diversity channel CQI transmission to the AMC channel CQI transmission at the physical layer can be easily synchronized for transmitting the REP_RSP at the MAC.
