Abstract: A method for configuring, on the basis of only a small number of reference images, image processing systems for the inspection of objects on the basis of geometric primitives extracted from the camera images in video real-time, by a user who is inexperienced in image processing but thinks technically-geometrically and is versed in the function of the objects to be inspected. In this case, the user's semantic knowledge is incorporated into the otherwise automatic calculation of the classifiers for the tolerant and positionally invariant recognition of the objects by virtue of the user, by means of an input device, deleting or else weighting the geometric primitives that are unsuitable for the classification selectively on the graphical interface.

Abstract: Disks having the maximum radius of a large intestine are created and the contours of the disks are connected by virtual springs. Next, the directions of the disks are adjusted so that virtual spring energy becomes the minimum, so that the adjacent disks are prevented from crossing each other. Virtual rays are projected along the disks for generating an image of inside the large intestine. Accordingly, quivering of the virtual rays along a central path lessens and effect of the scale on the image along the central path can be prevented and in the portion where the central path largely bends, duplicate display of the same observation object can also be prevented.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for the smoothing of a mesh surface is disclosed whereby neighboring vertices of a target vertex are identified, for example, by identifying the neighboring vertices within a desired distance from the target vertex. A normal of the target vertex is determined as a function of, for example, the features of a set of neighbor triangles corresponding to the set of neighboring vertices. A local coordinate system is then established. Unknowns in a quadratic surface function are then solved as a function of the position of the neighboring vertices with respect to the local coordinate system and new x and y coordinates in the local coordinate system are determined for the target vertex.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for the simplification of a mesh surface is disclosed that preserves the original geometry of the shape of the surface and, at the same time, reduces undesirable triangle geometries. In one embodiment, a mesh simplification process first determines whether an edge swap operation should be performed as a function of a threshold criteria. Such a threshold may be a function of the span angles and cross angles associated with an edge or, alternatively, may be a predetermined span angle size threshold. In another embodiment, the decision as to whether to contract an edge is made by comparing the size of at least one span angle with a span angle threshold and by comparing the sizes of incident angles associated with the edge to an incident angle threshold.

Abstract: This invention relates to a printer and printing method capable of printing at high quality at a printing boundary where different printing elements can print in the same area of a printing medium. According to this method, when printing by moving a printhead in which a plurality of printing elements are arrayed relatively to a printing medium, the following control are performed That, is, it is checked whether different printing elements are printable in the same area on the printing medium on the basis of input image data. It is checked whether the input image data is used to print a text image or a graphic/halftone image. It is controlled in accordance with the check results to print in the same printable area by the different printing elements by changing respective ratios at which printing elements are used.

Abstract: A device spray cleans an inkjet print head. The purpose of the device is to avoid the formation of stalagmites during spray cleaning and therefore also to improve the print quality as a result of the fact that the transport device for the print carriers or items of mail is soiled as little as possible. This is achieved by a relative movement of a baffle element in a flat space or in a plane parallel to the nozzle surface of the at least one inkjet print head in conjunction with the spray cleaning.

Abstract: An ink-jet recording apparatus includes an ink tank in a layered form and having a plurality of ink storage chambers storing color inks; a driving circuit; a heat transfer plate; and a recording head having a plurality of nozzle rows arranged in one direction. The heat transfer plate is in contact with the driving circuit and faces, at a spacing distance, an ink storage chamber, among the ink storage chambers, storing a yellow ink included in the color inks, and formed on the lowest layer of the ink tank. The yellow ink is supplied to a center nozzle row among the nozzle rows. This construction reduces an influence on printing quality due to variation in extent by which the color inks are influenced by the heat from the driving circuit, thereby providing an ink-jet recording apparatus which can realize high-quality printing and made to be compact.

Abstract: An inkjet printhead has a body and a heater chip attached thereto. A nozzle plate on the heater chip includes a periphery and plurality of nozzle holes. An encapsulant bead lines the periphery of the nozzle plate and has a leading edge extending in a direction away from the periphery toward the plurality of nozzle holes. The boundary of the bead embodies an irregular shape and the leading edge exists less than about 500 microns from any of the nozzle holes. A tape attaches to the nozzle plate and covers each of the nozzle holes. The tape does not, however, touch the encapsulant bead. Preferably, the tape has a narrow width portion shorter than a width of the nozzle plate. In this manner, the encapsulant bead may encroach upon the nozzle holes closer than heretofore known. In turn, the heater chip can have reduced size and silicon savings.

Abstract: An inkjet drop ejection apparatus comprising: a chamber with a nozzle and an ink inlet for fluid communication with an ink supply; and, an actuator with associated drive circuitry for ejecting drops of ink through the nozzle; such that, the drive circuitry transmits a drive signal to the actuator wherein the drive signal has a voltage less than 10 volts. Limiting the actuator voltage to 10 V allows the drive circuitry to be CMOS circuitry rather than bi-polar. These voltages are compatible with CMOS and therefore the drive circuitry can be ‘on chip’ rather than ‘off chip’ with a large number of external connectors. Hence, all fabrication uses CMOS VLSI and MEMS processes and materials. By avoiding the need for many external connectors, the nozzle design is compact and the VLSI fabrication techniques are relatively low cost with high yield.
