Abstract: An apparatus for planarizing a workpiece has a web with a face which is positioned adjacent the workpiece during planarization. At least one tension assembly is configured to maintain tension of the web. An orbiting assembly is configured to orbit the web relative to the workpiece. The apparatus for planarizing a workpiece may include first and second polishing surfaces where the first polishing surface has a substantially horizontal web with a face which is positioned adjacent the workpiece during the planarization process. The apparatus may also have a rotatable carousel and at least two workpiece carriers suspended from the carousel. Each of the carriers is configured to carry a workpiece and press the workpiece against one of the polishing surfaces while causing relative motion between the workpiece and the polishing surface. An apparatus for planarizing a workpiece which includes a plurality of polishing stations is also disclosed.

Abstract: A blade sharpening tool includes a main body, a first grinding unit, a second grinding unit, and a protective jacket. The first grinding unit is directed toward a direction in line with the axial direction of the main body. Thus, when the first grinding unit is pressed to move on the blade of the gardening shears, the first grinding unit is movable in the direction the same as that of the blade, so that the first grinding unit is operated easily and quickly to facilitate the user operating the blade sharpening tool in an energy-saving manner. In addition, the mating surface of the main body has a shape corresponding to that of the jaw of the gardening shears to facilitate movement of the first grinding unit on the blade.

Abstract: The invention concerns a knife sharpener for household knives or the like. In order to design a knife sharpener, which, one the one hand, can be used for sharpening and sits solidly on a surface without it having to be held, and which, on the other hand, is producible with little economic cost regarding production and assembly, the invention proposes a knife sharpener with a housing, which has a surface designed to be a base, and at least one longitudinal, cylindrical grinding element made from ceramics, at least part of the surface of which is arranged on the surface of the housing, whereas the base is designed at a right angle to a longitudinal line of the grinding element and the grinding element is positioned in the middle in relation to a projection of the base.

Abstract: A finger-mounted tool device includes a finger-gripping sleeve formed of a hollow body tube and an abrading member. The hollow body tube is formed of a spirally wrapped progression of a spring material to provide an expanding and gripping nature and is bi-directional in use for fitting securely and comfortably onto any size of a user's finger. The abrading member has an abrasive surface and a backing surface. The backing surface is attached to the body tube.

Abstract: An apparatus for removal bones from a fish fillet is presented. A conveyor is provided for conveying the fish fillet and supporting means is arranged on said conveyor for supporting the fish fillet as it is being conveyed by means of imposing the fish fillet on it so that the bones to be removed are exposed. A second supporting means is arranged sidewise to said first supporting means for maintaining the fish fillet in a fixed position as the exposed bones are removed with a bone removal unit, which is arranged above the conveying means.

Abstract: An air-conditioning register is buried in a decorative panel having a decorative surface, and includes a cylinder-shaped retainer having a ventilation passage, a fin assembly disposed swingably and adjacent to the outlet opening in the retainer, a connecting member for connecting the fin assembly, and an operating member for driving the connecting member. The air-conditioning register operates interchangeably between a blowing direction adjusting mode, in which the fin assembly adjusts a blowing direction of air-conditioning air, and a shut-off mode, in which the fin assembly shuts off the outlet opening. The ventilation passage extends in a lengthwise direction which intersects with the decorative surface at an acute angle. The fin assembly includes main fin members, and a sub fin member. In the blowing direction adjusting mode, the main fin members swing, but the sub fin member is held substantially parallel to the lengthwise direction of the ventilation passage.

Abstract: A fully programmable, graphics microprocessor is disclosed which is designed to be embodied in a removable external memory unit for connection with a host information processing system. In an exemplary embodiment, a video game system is described including a host video game system and a pluggable video game cartridge housing the graphics microprocessor. The game cartridge also includes a read-only program memory (ROM) and a random-access memory (RAM). The graphics coprocessor operates in conjunction with a three bus architecture embodied on the game cartridge. The graphics processor using this bus architecture may execute programs from either the program ROM, external RAM or its own internal cache RAM.

Abstract: A boot for a universal joint is constructed by a boot body and a boot adapter. The one end of the boot is fitted on a propeller inner shaft via its one-end fitting portion and the other end of the boot is fitted on the outer race of the universal joint via its other-end fitting portion, thereby substantially covering the universal joint. The foregoing one-end fitting portion has an annular lip portion at its end portion. Passages for flowing air between the inside of the boot and the outside of the boot are formed on the one-end fitting portion and the annular lip portion. The passages are closed by the annular lip portion being expanded in diameter outward by a centrifugal force caused by the high rotation of the propeller inner shaft, thereby preventing splashed water or muddy water from intruding into the boot when air is sucked into the boot.

Abstract: A flywheel assembly that transmits torque from a crankshaft of an engine is provided. The flywheel assembly has a flywheel with a friction surface and an elastic coupling mechanism. The elastic coupling mechanism elastically couples the flywheel and the crankshaft in a rotating direction, and has a pair of first disk-shaped members axially spaced from each other and fixed together, a second disk-shaped member that is arranged between the pair of first disk-shaped members, and an elastic member that elastically couples the first disk-shaped members to the second disk-shaped member in the rotating direction. Further, a plate-like coupling portion extending between outer peripheries of the paired first disk-shaped members fixes the pair of first disk-shaped members together.

Abstract: A high performance constant velocity universal joint is based on a body which encloses the constant velocity joint components and provides a smooth spherical outer surface. A one-piece semi-rigid plastic boot in the form of a truncated sphere has a smooth internal spherical surface sized to match the outer surface of the body. The plastic of the boot is sufficiently elastic to allow the boot to snap over the body, yet sufficiently resilient to snap the open end closed after the boot is snapped over the body to provide a substantial seal preventing entry of debris under the seal. A retaining ring is positioned on the boot near the truncated end to resist plastic creep which would result in enlarging the opening and allowing debris to enter the seal.

Further, the disclosure generally relates to water-powered rides and to a system and method in which participants may be actively involved in a water attraction. This transportation system comprises at least two water stations and at least one water channel connecting the at least two water stations for the purpose of conveying participants between the at least two water stations. In addition, the water transportation system may include conveyor belt systems and water locks configured to convey participants from a first source of water to a second source of water which may or may not be at a different elevation.

Abstract: A laser indicator for golf enables a golfer to maintain a correct posture when he or she enjoys putting or driving a golf ball. The laser indicator includes a case having a window on a front surface, a clamp fixedly secured to the case so as to detachably attach the case to a cap worn by a golfer, a laser module disposed within the case to irradiate a point laser beam and having an optical path in alignment with the window of the case, a switch mounted on the case for allowing the golfer to control electricity supply to the laser module, and a laser beam converter provided between the window of the case and the laser module for movement into alignment with the optical path of the laser module and adapted to convert the point laser beam to a line laser beam.

Abstract: A golf ball having a plurality of dimples arranged on its surface is provided wherein the ball surface is free of a great circle that does not intersect with dimples, at least 7% of the total number of dimples are non-circular dimples, and some non-circular dimples lie across the equator of the ball corresponding to a parting plane of a mold. The ball is improved in flight distance and aerodynamic uniformity.

Abstract: A multi-lobed golf ball dimple is provided. The dimple comprises a plurality of lobes positioned radially around the center of the dimple, wherein each lobe is defined by a circumferential segment and may be further defined by spoke-like ridges. Each lobe comprises a first curved profile extending from the circumferential segment toward the center of the dimple and the first curved profile of each lobe abuts each other in an uninterrupted manner. The multi-lobed dimple may include uniform and non-uniform dimples. The curvature of the circumferential segments can be defined by a ratio of an inside radius to an outside radius. Each dimple also includes a slightly convex floor that is continuous and smooth. The curvature may match that of the outer surface of the golf ball. Further, a sloped wall interrupted by spoke-like ridges may connect the convex floor with the outer surface of the golf ball.

Abstract: A batting system wherein the ball hopper is located proximate a batting position and a pitching machine is located at a pitching position with a ball transport system for conveying baseballs from the ball hopper to the pitching machine. Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a bat having an exterior and a hollow interior. The method consists of successive steps of placing a first layer of filament onto a rotating mandrel while simultaneously applying resin to the first layer; winding additional layers of filament around the first layer without resin; and vacuum transfer molding additional resin onto the filament layers so that the additional resin impregnates these layers. The apparatus consists of a mandrel; a mandrel holder allowing rotation of the mandrel; a resin applicator adjacent the mandrel of the same length as the mandrel; a filament winder for winding filament onto the mandrel; and a vacuum transfer molding apparatus. A bat made by this method is also disclosed. The present invention also relates to a resin bath to apply resin to a line of filament.

The fletch comprises a feather member extending from a mounting body in a first direction, and one or more locating pins and a locking pin extend from the mounting body in a second direction. The locating pins are insertable within holes disposed in the wall of a hollow-shafted archery arrow. The locating pins define angled engagement notches that contact the inner surface of the arrow body such that translation of the fletch with respect to the arrow body causes the fletch to be pulled tightly against the arrow body. The locking pin may be snapped into a corresponding hole within the arrow wall, thereby fixing the fletch to the arrow body. An installation drill jig may be used to drill holes within the arrow wall corresponding to the locating and locking pins of the fletch.

Abstract: A belt tensioner for a power transmission belt is provided that utilizes asymmetric motion control and is operable in a first condition and a second condition. The belt tensioner has an arm with a belt engaging section and a drum section, a support member for securing the tensioner relative to the belt, and a spring that urges the arm to pivot about the support member in a first direction and urges the belt engaging section against the belt with a force to tension the belt. The tensioner also has a stator coupled to the support member to form arcuate spaces circumferentially spaced around the stator between the stator and the drum section and arcuate shaped wedges in the arcuate spaces. The tensioner further has a Belleville spring coupled to the arm for pivoting therewith and a friction device in sliding contact with the wedges and Belleville spring.

Abstract: A silent chain and sprocket assembly is disclosed for use with a chain tensioner that provides driving contact on both sides of the chain and improved system wear, noise and vibration characteristics without adding to the chain's weight or material costs. The front-side sprockets employ sprocket teeth and engage the front-side silent chain links in conventional fashion. The back-side driven sprockets differ from prior silent chain sprockets in that the sprockets employ small protrusions instead of traditional teeth. The silent chain engages a back-side sprocket protrusion using the geometry of either a single link, or that of two adjacent links, as the chain wraps on the back-side sprocket.

Abstract: A lubrication system of an axle assembly comprising a differential carrier rotatably supporting a differential case therewithin, an axle tube extending outwardly from the differential carrier, a bearing assembly for rotatably supporting the differential case within the differential carrier, and an annular drain-back baffle formed with a drain-back hole passing through the drain-back baffle and defining an oil delivery passage between the differential carrier and the axle tube. The drain-back baffle is selectively positioned within the axle assembly to provide changeable oil flow characteristics of the axle assembly. A method is provided for controlling flow of lubricant between a differential gear and an axle tube by selectively adjusting the position of the drain-back channel in order to provide the desired lubricant flow path.

Abstract: A differential lubrication system includes structure forming a torque converter feed passage in fluid communication with a fluid source and in which fluid is selectively supplied to a torque converter. Structure forming a branch passage for lubricating a differential mechanism extends from the torque converter feed passage to divert fluid to the differential mechanism prior to the fluid being supplied to the torque converter. Two flow restrictions and a valve mechanism may be employed to control lubrication of the differential mechanism. One of the flow restrictions may form a nozzle so that fluid is sprayed onto the differential mechanism. A method of lubricating the differential mechanism is also provided.

Abstract: A transfer case having an input shaft driven by a powertrain, a first output shaft adapted for connection to a first driveline and a torque transfer mechanism. The torque transfer mechanism includes a friction clutch assembly operably disposed between the first output shaft and the second output shaft and a clutch actuator assembly for generating and applying a clutch engagement force to the friction clutch assembly. The clutch actuator assembly includes an electric motor, a geared reduction unit and a clutch apply operator. A control system including vehicle sensors and a controller are provided to control actuation of the electric motor.

Abstract: For a first gear ratio, the flyweights engage the clutch and thus connect the input to the sun wheel, whilst the ring gear is immobilised by the free wheel. For the second gear ratio, the flyweights push the ring gear against the axial thrust of the helical teeth in a direction causing the engagement of the clutch against the ring and thus, at the same time, the disengagement of the clutch. The thrust produced by the teeth on the ring gear decreases and transmission then occurs from the input to the ring gear, whilst the sun wheel is immobilised by its free wheel. When the sun gear is made stationary and the input shaft is rotationally driven, the outer shaft and the inner shaft are rotated with the same number of revolutions in the same direction. When the sun gear is rotated, a position of the inner shaft in the direction of rotation is adjusted relative to the outer shaft.

A filtered driver demand for torque at vehicle traction wheels is used to determine an engine torque command. The engine torque command is initialized to a percentage of a target engine torque as a function of variables that may include a smoothness factor.

Abstract: An input torque control system is provided with a primary pulley, a secondary pulley, a V belt wound between these pulleys, a step motor to change a pressure difference between the primary pulley pressure and the secondary pulley pressure to change a gear ratio of the transmission, a memory unit to store pulley information immediately before a vehicle stop, and a torque restricting section. When an initialization operation of the step motor is started without pulley information stored in the memory unit, an output torque of the engine is restricted, and the restriction is removed after the initialization operation is finished.

Abstract: A multifunction exerciser includes a base, a coupler rotatably attached to the base, a lever attached to the coupler and having one or more seats for supporting users, a handle device rotatably attached to the base, and a link pivotally coupling the handle device to the coupler and thus to the lever, to allow the user to elevate himself by rotating the handle device relative to the base. A foot support is rotatably attached to the base, and includes one or more foot pedals to support the user, and a connecting rod pivotally couples the foot support to the handle device and the coupler. The handle device includes a connecting bar coupled between two hand grips, and a connector rotatably coupled to the base.

Abstract: A leg support garment of a tights type that has stretchability and is applied in close contact with the human body so as to support the legs is provided with a stretchable part having a relatively great straining force. The stretchable part having a relatively great straining force includes a stretchable portion (A) having a relatively great straining force that substantially covers the ligamentum collateralle on a medial side of the knee joint of the human body, and on a superior side of the knee joint, extends through a length of not less than ¼ of that of the thigh, along at least one selected from the musculus group consisting of the musculus sartorius, the musculus semitendinosus, the musculus semimembranosus, and the musculus gracilis.

Abstract: A resistance exercise machine has a frame that includes a base on the floor and upright posts on the base. Resistance packs mounted for adjustment up and down on the posts are equipped with cams that compensate for the increased resistance resulting from increasing deformation of the resistance elements in the packs. The resistance packs are interconnected by teeth on their rims which allow the packs to be arranged in a stack. An adjustable bench and seat are provided. One alternative is a direct drive system having angularly adjustable levers. Another alternative has a fixed number of resistance packs that can be selectively activated to add resistance.

Abstract: An exercise system for use in a vehicle includes a frame that has a pair of spaced apart base members. Support legs extend from each base member and a crossbeam is connected to and extends between each support leg. Mounting fixtures are positioned on each support leg and on each base member. Additionally, one or more exercise devices may be removably secured to each mounting fixture. In operation a user may attach an exercise device to the frame and undertake resistance exercises for the arms, legs and torso. Various sized individuals at various strength levels can be accommodated via altering the resistance of exercise device.
