The processor displays selected features such as specific areas of the structure, fire hydrants, elevators, smoke detectors, fire detectors, stairways, and individuals within the structure. The processor selectively changes between a two dimensional model to a three dimensional model over a noticeable period of time. A selected floor is shown as decreased transparency and the remaining floors with increased transparency or it is tinted. A wire frame can highlight the one floor or the entire structure. Exterior features of the structure may be shown. A circular scroll bar controls rotation of the three dimensional structure while maintaining the user's orientation in virtual space.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2005Publication date: June 14, 2007Inventors: Thomas Plocher, Jeffrey Rye, Rui Zhang, Zhaoxia Jin

Publication number: 20070132757Abstract: A method includes combining at least two 3-D models, given the positions of the models and constraint areas of the models that should not be changed by the combination. The combining includes generating a weighted graph representation of the models at least in a transition volume and including at least a portion of the constraint areas and finding a minimum cut which separates the weighted graph into two cut graphs representing cut versions of the models.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2006Publication date: June 14, 2007Inventors: Tal Hassner, Lihi Zelnik-Manor, Ronen Basri, George Leifman

Publication number: 20070132758Abstract: Provided are a system for generating a surface mesh surrounding particles on a 3D space. An implicit function module receives particle data containing three-dimensional location and radius data of the particles, grids the particles into rectangular parallelepiped shape, and generates implicit function data having implicit function value determining the surface at grid points. A mesh module generates a mesh through a pre-process of substituting the implicit function value of the gird point, where the implicit function value is defined, by zero when the a distance between a grid point where the implicit function value of the implicit function data and the vertex of the mesh is within a set distance. Accordingly, the system and method are useful for visualizing the results of particle simulations used in basic science and engineering. In particular, the system and method can generate high-quality mesh in computer graphics of fluid simulation using the particles.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 4, 2006Publication date: June 14, 2007Inventors: Seung Oh, Bon Koo, Manjai Lee

Publication number: 20070132759Abstract: The present invention presents a framework for separating specular and diffuse reflection components in images and videos. Each pixel of the an M-channel input image illuminated by N light sources is linearly transformed into a new color space having (M-N) channels. For an RGB image with one light source, the new color space has two color channels (U,V) that are free of specularities and a third channel (S) that contains both specular and diffuse components. When used with multiple light sources, the transformation may be used to produce a specular invariant image. A diffuse RGB image can be obtained by applying a non-linear partial differential equation to an RGB image to iteratively erode the specular component at each pixel. An optional third dimension of time may be added for processing video images. After the specular and diffuse components are separated, dichromatic editing may be used to independently process the diffuse and the specular components to add or suppress visual effects.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 19, 2006Publication date: June 14, 2007Inventors: Satya Mallick, David Kriegman, Todd Zickler, Peter Belhumeur

Publication number: 20070132760Abstract: A method for presenting a user selected status of an object in a three dimensional graphic display is disclosed. The method includes the step of receiving a request to select a property of an object for display. The method further includes the step of displaying at least one property which may be displayed for the object. A selection of a property is received and the value of the selected property for the object is determined. The method further includes the step of generating a status indicator based on the value of the selected property. The status indicator is then displayed relative to the object. In a preferred embodiment, the form of the status indicator is automatically determined by the system. An apparatus for implementing the method is also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2001Publication date: June 14, 2007Inventor: Anders Vinberg

Publication number: 20070132761Abstract: It is possible to easily set the operation of a spectrum analyzer. The spectrum analyzer receives a signal to be measured. The spectrum analyzer includes a display device (28) having a display screen for displaying the signal to be measured with a vertical axis representing a measurement value (power) of the signal to be measured and a horizontal axis representing frequency. Furthermore, a touch panel is provided on the display screen of the display device (28). When a user of the spectrum analyzer touches a point 32a (f0, P0) on the display screen, peak search is performed to detect a maximal value of the measurement value of the signal to be measured in a range of the vicinity of the touched point (frequency f1 to f2, power P1 to P2) (wherein f1=f0??f, f2=f0+?f, P1=P0??P, P2=P0+?P). Thus, it is possible to easily set the range for performing the peak search.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2004Publication date: June 14, 2007Applicant: ADVANTEST CORPORATIONInventors: Yoshihide Maruyama, Hiroshi Nagasawa, Tsutomu Kumazawa, Hiroaki Takaoku

Publication number: 20070132762Abstract: A formatting object according to the present invention conveys information to the reader of a document (such as a table or chart) by associating visual attributes (such as color, fill type, border width, line width, line style, font size, marker size and marker type) to characters or markers within the document. The formatting object may be used to emphasize data within a table or a chart by modifying the structural visual attributes of characters or markers within the table or chart according to pre-defined criteria. Similarly, the formatting object may be used to increase information density within a table or chart, and to elegantly represent the relationships between four or more interrelated variables in a two-dimensional chart. The formatting object accomplishes this by defining at least one format map that comprises one or more mapping segments.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2007Publication date: June 14, 2007Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Randall Davis, Jeff Couckuyt, Paul Davies
