Abstract: A content packet transmission control system in a mobile communication network supporting a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) includes a broadcast/multicast service center (BM-SC) performing an inter-working operation with a gateway general packet radio service support node (GGSN) and managing the MBMS so that contents may be broadcasted/multicasted to a plurality of user terminals, and a content provider (CP)/multicast broadcast (MB) source server providing contents of an internal CP or contents of an external CP according to a broadcasting schedule of each MBMS. When the user terminal using a predetermined MBMS leaves a service area or requests to stop the service, the content packet transmission control system stops transmitting corresponding service contents, and transmits a service packet to a new user terminal requesting the service and the user terminal coming back to the service area.

Abstract: A method, system, and program provide for efficient send socket call handling by a transport layer. A transport layer of a network protocol stack receives a send socket call for data of a specified length from an application layer. Responsive to detecting that there is insufficient memory for a single memory allocation to a buffer in the transport layer for at least the specified length, the transport layer blocks the send socket call. The transport layer only wakes the send socket call upon detection of sufficient memory for the single memory allocation within the buffer of the transport layer for at least the specified length, wherein waking the send socket call triggers a kernel to perform the single memory allocation in the buffer and to write the data to the single memory allocation in a single pass.

Abstract: A network interface is presented that receives packet data from a shared medium and accomplishes the signal processing required to convert the data packet to host computer formatted data separately from receiving the data packet. The network interface receives the data packet, converts the analog signal to a digitized signal, and stores the resulting sample packet in a storage queue. An off-line processor, which may be the host computer itself, performs the signal processing required to interpret the sample packet. In transmission, the off-line process converts host-formatted data to a digitized version of a transmission data packet and stores that in a transmission queue. Abstract: An automated system for translating datalink information and producing a computer code based on the translated datalink information. The computer code may subsequently be used to establish datalink communications between pieces of equipment having different communication protocols. The automated production of computer code reduces time and errors during software development for applications used in communicating between different datalinks.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for detecting fraudulent message service message traffic are disclosed. According to one method, message service messages are monitored. It is determined that the message service message traffic indicates that the message service message traffic is fraudulent based on detection of at least one of: 1) message service message traffic received at a first network from a second network, where the traffic includes at least one message with an SCCP calling party address internal to the first network, 2) a volume of message service message traffic received at the first network from the second network that exceeds the volume of message service message traffic sent by the first network to the second network by a threshold amount, and 3) message service message traffic that is sent to a dark number. In response to detecting fraudulent message service message traffic, a mitigating action is performed.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are disclosed for conserving bandwidth. A user's bandwidth consumption is monitored and compared to a threshold value. When the user's bandwidth consumption equals or exceeds the threshold value, then behavior is incentivized that reduces the user's bandwidth consumption.

Abstract: A method, virtual network adapter and computer program product are provided for automatically maximizing frame sizes and avoiding physical network Internet Protocol (IP) fragmentation. A maximum frame size of a selected physical adapter is identified. A frame size for the virtual adapter is calculated using the identified maximum frame size of the selected physical adapter. The calculated frame size of the virtual adapter is reported to an operating system.

Abstract: Using the attribute “priority” to achieve a stronger FEC for RLC Control PDUs transmitted via the HS-DSCH also entails prioritized handling so that an RLC Control PDU is likely to overhaul an RLC Data PDU. As a consequence the RLC protocol operation can severely be disturbed, since it relies on in-sequence delivery of control and data PDUs. According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, two types of containers are provided in which data packets may be transmitted, wherein the first type of container is provided with a stronger error coding than the second type of container and wherein data packets which comprise control instructions are only transmitted in the first container type with the stronger error correction. Due to this, an improved forward error correction for control PDUs of the AM RLC protocol of UMTS may be provided.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a first frame of m n-bit bytes. A second frame is constructed at least in part from the first frame. The second frame has j k-bit bytes, wherein k>n, wherein j is selected for a pre-determined p such that p·j·k mod n=0. A plurality (p) of the second frames may be k-bit byte multiplexed to form a composite frame.

Abstract: This invention relates to a non-intrusive video quality assessment system. A method and apparatus are provided in which video frame parameters are extracted from a sequence of packets by generating a first video quality parameter for each group of packets associated with a particular frame of video data in dependence upon the frame rate of the video stream; and generating a second video quality parameter for each of said group of packets in dependence upon the size of encoded data comprising the video frame.

In a storage-based digital broadcast system wherein contents transmitted from a sending side are stored on a receiving side then reproduced, the sending side transmits service structure information for describing relational structure between services provided by contents providers and reference information for associating the contents with the service structure information in advance, and the receiving side receives and stores service structure information and reference information and uses the received service structure information and reference information to manage storage of contents. It is possible to control contents per service based on service structure information and information that can be reorganized from reference information.

Abstract: In a communication system where a terminal operates in clock synchronization with a global time used on a network, a period of time required for establishing clock synchronization when the terminal synchronizes a local time with a global time prior to receiving or transmitting a frame. In the communication system where the terminal operates in clock synchronization with the global time used on the network, a normal frame is utilized as a sub-startup frame (A_su) for global time reference in addition to a startup frame (A_st), to thereby reduce the period of time required for establishing clock synchronization. Also, the reference auxiliary startup frame is set as an event signal to adaptively control a period of time that is occupied by the transmission of the reference frame.
