Abstract: A technique which realizes an efficient handover by reducing loads on a mobile node and an access router and communication traffics thereof while keeping a packet loss rate in a fast handover technology is disclosed, and according to that technique, a mobile node (MN 10) has a correspondence relationship between information (link layer address of an AP) on an access point (AP 22, 23, 32, 33) and information (link layer address of an AR, and a network prefix and a prefix length of a subnet 20, 30 to which the AR belongs) on an access router (AR 21, 31) having control over the AP, and, by referring to the correspondence relationship, generates an NCoA of a subnet which is the destination of movement in L2 handover between different subnets, does not change an NCoA and executes only the L2 handover in the L2 handover in the same subnet, and performs a conventional fast handover when there is no correspondence relationship relating to an AP at the destination of the L2 handover.

Abstract: In a case where an access point lies outside the direct radio transmission range of a first radio station of a radio communications system, and a routing runs between the first radio station and the access point that includes at least one additional radio station is known to the first radio station and the access point, information can be transmitted from the first radio station to the access point and from the latter to the first radio station via the routing. When the access point receives information relating to an interruption in the known routing from a radio station in the routing, the first radio station downstream of the access point is informed of the interruption in the known routing and subsequently initiates a process for determining a new routing between the first radio station and the access point.

Herein, the mobile station that can access a first network having relatively wide service coverage and a second network having relatively narrow service coverage in an area where service coverages of heterogeneous networks are overlapped. When accessing the serving network of the first network, it is determined whether a received signal strength received from the second network is greater than a first threshold value. In addition, a first vertical handoff is decided by using a result of prediction of a transition pattern of the received signal strength that is greater than the first threshold value. When the serving network is the second network, it is determined whether the received signal strength received from the second network is less than a second threshold value.

Abstract: A data stream is transmitted between a base station and user terminal. A first resource that is available to transmit a page is selected at the base station and the page transmitted from the base station via the first resource. The page is received at the user terminal via the first resource and a second resource that is available to transmit a page response is selected at the user terminal. A page response is transmitted from the user terminal via the second resource in response to the page. A data stream is then transmitted between the base station and user terminal via a third resource. In one embodiment, the first, second and third resources utilize the same sequence of radio frequency resources that follow a hopping sequence among a set of available radio frequency resources. In one embodiment, at least two of the first, second and third resources utilize the same sequence of radio frequency resources. In yet another embodiment, the resources utilize different sequences of radio frequency resources.

Abstract: A terrestrial digital video broadcast (DVB-T) network includes a content provider and first to third transmitters. Each transmitter may transmit more than one signal, different signals having different frequencies, multiplexes and the like and relating to different network types. An integrated receiver/decoder (IRD) is mobile in the area around transmitters. As well as transmitting service information as part of a network information table on a data layer, the transmitters provide in their output signals transmitter parameter information as TPS data on a physical layer. This TPS information includes one bit identifying the type of the network to which the signal relates and information identifying whether or not the signal contains time-sliced data streams. This information is used by the IRD both in signal scan, or initialising the IRD with parameters needed for OSI layers service discovery, and for deselecting signals as handover candidates.

Abstract: A wireless communication system, a method for enhancing network efficiency, and a computer program product therefor are provided. The wireless communication system includes a transmitting apparatus and a receiving apparatus. The method and the computer program product therefor perform the following steps. The transmitting apparatus transmits a request-to-send packet to the receiving apparatus. After receiving the request-to-send packet, the receiving apparatus measures a request-to-send power of the received request-to-send packet to calculate a clear-to-send power. The receiving apparatus then uses the clear-to-send power to broadcast a clear-to-send packet. All neighboring transmitting apparatuses that can hear this clear-to-send packet should prohibit themselves from sending packets during the period specified in the clear-to-send packet to avoid colliding with a data packet that will soon be sent from the transmitting apparatus to the receiving apparatus.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for synchronizing time information in a mobile communication terminal. The terminal stores region-by-region time offset information, information about decoding schemes used for radio time signal stations for broadcasting Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) information, and information about carrier frequency bands for transmitting standard time information from the radio time signal stations. When moving to a region of a different time zone, the terminal detects its movement and receives location information from a base station of a mobile communication network in the current region. The terminal retrieves information about a carrier frequency from information relative to an associated radio time signal station, and receives a radio time signal from the radio time signal station. The terminal's Real Time Clock (RTC) is initialized according to the radio time signal and time information of the RTC is updated using time information of an associated region.

Abstract: After statically provisioned paths are created through an Ethernet network, trunks may be created to extend along those paths. The trunks extend between pairs of NNI interfaces on either end of the path, and Ethernet OAM may be run over the trunks to detect connectivity along the paths. Service instances and service groups may be provisioned over particular paths through the network. Each service instance/service group is associated with a trunk and the Ethernet OAM service on the trunk may be used to provide Ethernet connectivity OAM for the service instance/service group. Upon detection of a failure on the trunk, the service instances/service groups associated with the trunk may be caused to failover to an alternate path through the network. Thus, a single Ethernet OAM service instance may be used to provide connectivity verification so that connectivity detection does not need to be performed on each individual service instances/service group.

Abstract: Provided is a method for selecting a broadcast routing path using a genetic algorithm in an Ad-hoc network. In the method, a plurality of nodes of the Ad-hoc network is defined as one chromosome, and the chromosome is represented with pairs of {order, power} in each node. Child nodes are created by performing an order based crossover and a power based crossover with respect to parent nodes neighboring to a source node. A mutation operation is performed with respect to the parent nodes and the child nodes. Relay nodes are determined by converting order and power information of each node of the chromosome into routing tree information. Power of the relay nodes is determined. A broadcast routing path is selected using the number and power of the relay nodes.
