  • Patent number: RE39719
Abstract: The present invention comprises a retractable rule assembly that includes a housing assembly and a reel rotatably mounted in the housing assembly. An elongated blade formed of a ribbon of metal is mounted on the reel. One end of the blade is connected to the reel. The blade is constructed and arranged with respect to the housing assembly to extend from a position tangential to the reel outwardly through a spaced opening in the housing assembly. A coil spring that is formed of a ribbon of metal has a construction and arrangement between the housing assembly and the reel to rotate the reel in the housing assembly in a direction to wind the elongated blade about the reel when the blade is extending outwardly of the housing assembly opening. The blade has a “normal” concavo-convex cross-sectional configuration when extended and has a flat cross-sectional configuration when it is wound about the reel so that the wound reel is disposed about the reel in an abutting volute coil formation.

  • Patent number: 7240389
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of constructing partially earth-anchored cable-stayed bridges using a thermal prestressing technique, in which, when a steel girder-type partially earth-anchored cable-stayed bridge is built using a cantilever construction technique, the center of an intermediate span of the bridge is closed with a final key segment using a thermal prestressing technique, thus applying an initial axial tensile force to reinforcing girders of the bridge. To apply the initial axial tensile force to the reinforcing girders while the center of the intermediate span is closed with the final key segment, an appropriate space length required for closure of the final key segment is determined, and both the heating region and the heating temperature of the reinforcing girders according to the initial axial tensile force to be applied to the reinforcing girders during a process of manufacturing the final key segment are determined.

A drive arm is pivotally connected to the crank arm for movement between first and second angular positions about a pivot pin with respect to one another. A flexible composite spring extends between the crank arm and the drive arm. The flexible composite spring is preloaded into an initial arcuate position and is bendable from the initial position to facilitate preventing damage to components in the wiper system when a load applied to the arms exceeds a predetermined load.

Abstract: An automatic clean device includes a base body, a transmission element, a cleaning element and an elastic member. Wherein the transmission element and the cleaning element are disposed on the base body, the elastic member has an end connected to the cleaning element. With the cooperation of the transmission element and the elastic member, the cleaning element is able to oscillate reciprocatedly and alternately touch a photoconductor of the laser-type image/data recording device. By this way, the cleaning element is able to clean the toner that is remained on the surface of the photoconductor.

Abstract: A motor-driven outdoor vacuum has a ground level intake and a hose intake. When a hand-operable actuator moves a first or main door into a ground pick-up position, the ground level intake, which is carried by the first door is in direct air-flow communication with the impeller and the hose intake, which is carried by the first door is closed by a spring-actuated second door carried by the main door. When the actuator is moved to a hose intake position, the main door is moved to a second position in which the hose is in air-flow communication with the impeller and the ground level intake is closed.
