Abstract: The present invention relates to composite roof structures and their preparation. The composite roof structure is prepared by applying a one-part, moisture curable, foaming, polyurethane adhesive composition to the roof deck, placing the roofing material in contact with the adhesive composition, and allowing the adhesive mixture to foam, fill, and cure. If multiple layer of the roofing material are used to form the composite roof structure, then the above procedure may be used to adhere each of the roofing material layers.

Abstract: The control of the coolant flow is accomplished through valving or by adjusting the pumping speed of a water pump and a water motor, or a combination of all three elements. During normal operation, where engine cooling is not required, the speed control coupling maintains a slow and constant water pump speed at all engine-operating speeds. The valve is maintained to stop coolant flow from entering the radiator while allowing coolant to flow through a heater. If engine cooling is required, the valve is actuated such that coolant is circulated to the engine and through the radiator. If air conditioning is required, the speed control coupling simply increases the water pump speed and the fan speed while the valve is set to bypass coolant flow to the engine. If air conditioning and engine cooling are required, the valve is actuated to allow coolant flow to the engine.

An output main data unit is produced from the modulated main data unit, and a calculated value representing a difference between a number of 0 bits and a number of 1 bits included in the output main data unit is obtained. Any of the modulation data is then selected dependent upon the calculated value.

Abstract: Improvements in a biosensor of the type having reservoirs or wells for analyzing a biological liquid are disclosed. A biosensor (190) includes a waveguide (164) placed between a plurality of members such as plates (100, 186), at least one of the members (100) being formed to define the walls (132, 134, 136) of the reservoirs where the liquid is biologically analyzed. The walls of the reservoirs are made of an inert, opaque material such as a metal. Although the biosensor may include a gasket (162), the gasket is associated with the members and waveguide in such a way (e.g. by recessing the gasket into a channel formed into a metal plate) so that the gasket does not form any significant portion of the reservoir wall. Waveguides of varying composition (e.g. plastic, quartz or glass) may be associated with the members to form the biosensor. The metal plate of the biosensor has input and output ports for infusing, draining, or oscillating the liquid to be analyzed in the reaction reservoir.

Abstract: An apparatus for communicating to a printer a type of installed printer cartridge, where the combination of the cartridge and the printer form a magnetic coupling that can generate a cartridge specific code to identify the toner cartridge as being of a predetermined type. In a preferred embodiment, the magnetic coupling is achieved using at least two reed switches preferably mounted on the printer, with the reed switches biased using fixed magnetic elements placed immediately adjacent the reed switches. In the absence of any further magnetic fields, the reed switches are selected to provide a known set of switch positions corresponding to a bit value of one (“1”) for an open circuit and a bit value of zero (“0”) for a closed circuit.

The fan guard essentially includes a main frame, and a set of guard blades radially arranged inside the main frame and fixed onto an inner surface of the main frame by each one end thereof. Each of the guard blades is preferred to have a shape similar to the shape of the rotor blades, and the set of guard blades can be arranged either upstream or downstream of the rotor blades.

An impact and/or vibration absorbent material of the present invention has at least two material layers. The individual layers of the impact and/or vibration absorbent material may be of the same material, or of different materials. Each material layer preferably contains a number of holes. The holes in one layer are located and arranged to be offset from the holes in an adjacent layer. The combination of inherent material properties and the inclusion and arrangement of holes renders such a material highly impact and/or vibration absorbent. When used in an impacting article, deflection of portions of one material layer into the holes in an adjacent material layer at impact further provides an enhanced transfer of impact force to an impacted object.

Abstract: A vest is configured to serve as a portable lockout station, whereby maintenance workers may conveniently carry safety lockout padlocks (and their keys) and safety lockout tags from one maintenance location to another to allow them to impose a safety lockout on machinery when working on the machinery. The vest is preferably brightly colored and provided with reflective stripes so that it is readily visible to others around the maintenance location, and it includes pockets which are specially configured to complementarily fit safety lockout padlocks and tags for easy storage and access. The pockets are also formed of material which is at least partially transparent, such as mesh, and are placed on a location on the vest which is readily visible to the wearer such that the wearer can readily note when a safety lockout padlock is absent (e.g., when one has been forgotten at a prior maintenance location).

Abstract: An impact absorbing, modular helmet that uses impact absorbing layers outside the hard casing of the helmet to prevent and/or reduce injury to the user is described. The protective layers on the outer side of the hard casing increase the time of impact and thereby reduces the intensity of the impact forces to reduce their injury potential. The outermost layer would preferably be made of lightweight yet rigid, durable material made of polymers, composites or metal alloys with a low friction coefficient. Subsequent layers may be made up of a polymer honeycombed structure and a uniformly consistent impact absorbing polymer material. These impact-absorbing layers may also be made and used as an independent, detachable, external protective cover that may be attached universally over hard casing helmets.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a generally rectangular shaped disposable paper sheet for use as a toilet seat cover, comprising a die cut line shaped as an open ended oval, which divides the sheet into a central elongated ovally shaped portion and an outer seat covering portion. As one preferred embodiment, the present invention includes the addition of a pair of finger holes into the central portion of the paper sheet so that, when the finger holes are used to tear the die cut line, the entire central portion can be easily torn downwardly away from the outer covering portion which rests on and covers the toilet seat. In another preferred embodiment of the present invention, a reinforcement is applied around the finger holes to make them stronger so that they will not tear when the force of the fingers is applied to tear the die cut portion away from the seat cover portion.

The cam member is pivotally attached to the cam bracket and includes a first arm and a second arm. The first lever and the second lever are pivotally attached to the lever bracket and include a pedal and an actuating arm. The connecting rod connects the cam member and the seat tilting member. When the first pedal is pressed the first actuating arm pivots the first arm of the cam member upward and the seat is tilted upward until the seat is fully pivoted upward, and the seat remains fully pivoted upward. The second pedal similarly operates to tilt the seat downward.

Abstract: An emergency eye wash system having a support panel and a pair of brackets for holding two bag assemblies containing sterile and sealed eye wash solution. The bag assemblies are connected by hoses to a pair of nozzles mounted on a pivotal tray assembly. When the system is dormant, the tray assembly is in a vertical closed position. When there is an emergency, a user pulls on a pivotal handle to puncture membranes in the hoses and to lower the tray assembly to cause flow from the bags to the nozzles to the user's face.

A swaddling blanket is a three-sided blanket that contains a pouch in the middle in which to contain the infant. The second portion of the blanket crosses over the front of the infant's torso, then is placed through a slit in the first portion of the blanket, and secured to the back of the blanket by cooperating hook and loop fasteners. The third portion of the blanket then crosses over the front of the infant's torso and chest, wraps around the entire body of the infant and is secured in the front by additional hook and loop fasteners.

The random motion generator is rotatably attached to the frame of the cleaner and propels the cleaner across the floor in a random motion. This random motion facilitates cleaning of the floor by making the cleaner easier to manipulate. The random motion generator includes a hollow spherical shell. In the preferred embodiment, the hollow spherical shell houses a weighted motor assembly which is rotatably mounted on a center fixed axle which extends diametrically between the first and second hemispherical halves and is attached thereto. The weighted motor assembly is comprised of a motor housing and a power source, such as batteries or cells. A motor is housed within the motor housing and rotates the motor housing about the center fixed axle.
