  • Patent number: 7255367
Abstract: First and second air bag cushion portions are joined to form a bi-lobular air bag cushion with an opening adapted to receive inflation gas from an air bag inflator. A first inner panel forms first and second chambers in the first cushion portion and provide for fluid communication therebetween proximate to a distal portion thereof. A second inner panel forms third and fourth chambers in the second cushion portion and provide for fluid communication therebetween proximate to a distal portion thereof. Relatively inboard first and third chambers are in fluid communication with one another. The second and fourth chambers are in fluid communication with the opening. In another embodiment, first and second distribution tubes provide for fluid communication between the opening and relatively distal portions of the first and second cushion portions. The inner panels and the distribution tubes provide for lateral inflation of the bi-lobular air bag.

  • Patent number: 7255380
Abstract: A bailer has a tapered leading end to reduce agitation and turbidity as the bailer is introduced into a body of liquid fluid. A check valve is unseated and admits liquid fluid into the bailer as the bailer enters the liquid fluid. The check valve is seated and seals the liquid fluid within the bailer against leakage when the bailer is retrieved from the liquid fluid. A first embodiment includes a bottom-emptying device that guides liquid fluid in the bailer into a wide-mouth container. A second embodiment includes a bottom-emptying device that guides the liquid fluid into a narrow mouth container such as a vial. In both embodiments, the bottom-emptying device is tapered and engages the outside walls of the tapered leading end of the bailer. This prevents liquid fluid from wetting a user's hands when the bottom-emptying device is used to unseat the check valve.

Abstract: An armrest is concealed within a recessed cavity formed in the lateral edge of a seat back. The armrest is mounted on an axle member that extends horizontally into the seat back cavity. A housing member is fixed within the seat back and slidably receives the axle member. A spring urges the axle member to an extended position in which the armrest is ejected from its concealed location within the seat back cavity to enable pivoting movement of the armrest from the vertical stored position to a horizontal armrest forming position. A latch acts between the axle member and the housing member to normally retain the axle member at its stored position within the housing member. A push button is associated with the latch and is pressed by the user to release the latch so that the spring will eject the armrest from the cavity.

Abstract: A braking control device for a vehicle executes braking force distribution (BFD) biased to the front wheels, taking into account auxiliary braking control such as braking assist control (BAS) executed when an abrupt or full braking action is performed by the driver. In BFD control a braking force on the rear wheels is held at a holding braking force and a braking force on the front wheels is incremented beyond a braking force requested by a braking action of the driver. After the starting of BFD control, further increase in the braking action is reflected in the braking force of the front wheels. When auxiliary braking control is executed, the holding braking force on the rear wheels and the increment of the braking force on the front wheels are determined based upon a demand of the auxiliary braking action as well as the braking action amount by the driver.
