  • Patent number: 7260873
Abstract: An apparatus and method for winding a sheet of aligned parallel yarns onto a beam is described. The beam winder utilizes a circularly arced yarn spool rack that feeds each yarn with air flow to an alignment comb through associated guide tubes. The distance between each spool of yarn and the alignment comb is substantially the same for all spools of yarn, thereby equalizing the force necessary to pull them to the comb. Next, the aligned sheet of material is preshrunk using heated rollers and wound onto a beam. Multiple speed controlled stepper motors are utilized to maintain a constant low level of tension in the sheet during the shrinking process. After shrinkage, the tension level of the yarn sheet is increased as it is wrapped onto the beam. A turntable that supports two or more beams is provided to facilitate the rapid switching of beams once one beam has become full.

Abstract: Ejector mechanism for the excavator bucket of a back hoe provides two laterally spaced ejector arms irrotatably carried on an ejector arm shaft journaled in horizontal orientation in the chamber of the excavator bucket to fit against the back and adjacent the sides of the bucket and pivot away from the back. A laterally medial powering arm irrotatably carried by the ejector arm shaft communicates through the back and extends forwardly to move upon an angulated ramp carried by the bucket tilting arm mechanism to pivot the ejector arms away from the back of the bucket as the bucket is tilted to a horizontal dumping position. The powering arm shaft is spring biased to maintain the ejector arms adjacent the bucket back when the bucket chamber is empty. The mechanism is retrofitable on various back hoe buckets of present day commerce.

Abstract: An automatic spinning device for displaying objects which utilizes a novel winding-up mechanical is provided herein. The major characteristic of the winding-up mechanism lies in the use of magnetism to wind up the winding-up mechanism housed in an airtight space. Two concentric rings are arranged along the circumferential wall of the airtight space, with one outside the space and the other one inside the space. The two rings are equipped with magnets of opposite polarities so that, when the external one is turned, the internal one is turned automatically by the magnetic attraction force. The inner ring has gear teeth along its inner wall, which engages a gear assembly to wind up the winding-up mechanism of the device as the inner ring is turned along with the external ring.

Abstract: Reverse-Rotation Displays produce unexpected motion. They are especially useful for teaching high school and college students principles of the physical sciences. In addition, these Displays can be used for commercial and noncommercial purposes. Another use involves the design of special purpose flywheels that are capable of storing energy and/or converting rotational speed. The Displays move in the forward direction because of a motor. They move in the reverse direction because of forces that come from magnets embedded in a Display, and the Earth's magnetic field.

Abstract: The system and method of the present invention includes an upper frame mounted on a support structure, such as a truck, building, or billboard, three adjustable frame assemblies mounted on the support structure below the upper frame, and sheet material having an upper sheet tab inserted into the upper frame and lower, right, and left sheet tabs inserted into the adjustable frame assemblies. The frame assemblies can be adjusted to vary the tension in the sheet material between the upper frame and the adjustable frame assemblies. The method includes the steps of inserting the upper sheet tab into the upper frame, inserting the right, left, and lower sheet tabs into the adjustable frame assemblies, and adjusting the adjustable frame assemblies so that the sheet material is pulled taut between the upper frame and the adjustable frame assemblies.
