Abstract: The invention relates to a special strap assembly which is intended to prevent dog excrement from being deposited in public areas. The inventive assembly comprises an elastic strap which is fitted to the dog's hindquarters and which supports a singular piece (4) having characteristics which enable an excrement-collection bag to be connected thereto using a closed elastic rubber band. The invention consists of five elastic straps (1), (2) and (3) comprising length adjusters (5), which, together with the singular piece (4), form a single assembly which cannot come apart. Once the faeces have been deposited in the bag, the bag is removed from the singular piece (4), the elastic band being recovered, and sealed hermetically using an adhesive strip which is protected by a plastic band that is provided on one of the inner faces of the opening. The invention is essentially characterized by the specific characteristics of the singular piece, the number and arrangement of straps and the type of collection bag.

Abstract: In a default device of an actuator for a variable lift valve operating mechanism, in the event of failure of the actuator, a pressed portion of a lever pivotably supported on a support shaft is urged by a resilient force of a coil spring, an arm is pressed by a cam portion of the lever to rotate a control shaft in one direction to prevent valve lift from being a predetermined value or lower. The support shaft that pivotably supports the lever of a default mechanism is placed in a position offset from a rotation axis of the control shaft. Thus, as compared with the case where the support shaft is placed coaxially with the control shaft, a large urging force is input from the lever to the control shaft to reliably prevent the valve lift from being the predetermined value or lower.

Abstract: The invention provides a toroidal intersecting vane machine incorporating intersecting rotors to form primary and secondary chambers whose porting configurations minimize friction and maximize efficiency. Specifically, it is an object of the invention to provide a toroidal intersecting vane machine that greatly reduces the frictional losses through meshing surfaces without the need for external gearing by modifying the function of one or the other of the rotors from that of “fluid moving” to that of “valving” thereby reducing the pressure loads and associated inefficiencies at the interface of the meshing surfaces. The inventions described herein relate to these improvements.

Abstract: Internal combustion engine and method in which pistons on different rotors move relative to each other to form chambers of variable volume in a toroidal cylinder. The pistons move in stepwise fashion, with the pistons on one rotor travelling a predetermined distance while the pistons on the other rotor remain substantially stationary. Fuel is drawn into a chamber as one of the pistons defining the chamber moves away from the other, and then compressed as the second piston moves toward the first. Combustion of the fuel drives the first piston away from the second, and the spent gases are then expelled from the chamber by the second piston moving again toward the first. An output shaft is connected to the rotors in such manner that the shaft rotates continuously while the rotors and pistons move in their stepwise fashion.

The system includes a heat conductive container having a container bottom and a container sidewall extending upwardly from the container bottom to form a container opening; a container lid generally sealing the container opening, the container lid including a double-wall defining a space including one or more vents communicated outside the container; and a heat-conducting chimney, communicated through the container bottom into the space of the container lid when the container lid seals the container, for conducting combustion gases from the open flame when the flame is proximate the container bottom through the container without the combustion gasses entering into the container, the combustion gasses entering into the space and exiting through the one or more vents.

Abstract: According to a gas table 1, combustion gas (including the flame) is jetted from a flame port 17 of a burner 14 diagonally upward entirely twisted in the burner circumferential direction. The combustion gas flows into plural combustion gas routes sectioned into spiral shape, and hits trivet claws 22, and goes through. That is, the combustion gas is guided in spiral shape by the trivet claws 22, and exhausted along a cooking container P bottom surface toward the outer circumferential direction. As a result, in the combustion gas route, the combustion gas is always subject to direction changing force and the flow thereof is disturbed, and accordingly, a heat transmission border film is unlikely to be formed on the cooking container P bottom surface, and the heat of the combustion gas is transmitted to the bottom surface of the cooking container P preferably.

Abstract: This invention provides novel devices and methods for the heating of air with solar radiant energy. The devices of the present invention feature a housing partitioned into essentially isolated sections wherein the sections are in fluid communication with each other through a plurality of channels located within the partitions. The two unique features of the invention, essentially isolated sections and partitions comprising a plurality of channels, increase the temperature achieved by the solar heater by 1) creating multiple, sequential sections that function independently of each other providing a higher starting temperature in each section and, therefore, a higher final temperature, 2) providing second means of heating the air within the channels located within the partitions and, 3) by virtually eliminating the mixing of incoming cold air with the heated air of the solar air heater.

Abstract: A radiant heater is configured to be positioned above a floor at a predetermined distance and to produce a generally quadrangular zone of heat within a predetermined temperature range, preferably between approximately eighty-five degrees Fahrenheit and one-hundred degrees Fahrenheit, on the floor. The heater includes an elongated burner assembly, an inner cone member, at least one emitter assembly and end plates which define a combustion chamber. The emitter assembly is configured to direct heat produced within the combustion chamber downwardly and outwardly to the floor to form the generally quadrangular zone of heat. A canopy is provided which directs heat heading upwardly and outwardly back downwardly toward the floor and toward the emitter assembly. A reflector pan is positioned below the burner and the emitter assembly and assists in directing the heat from the emitter assembly toward the floor. A blower assembly may be incorporated into the heater.

Abstract: A device and method is provided for delivering an active material or drug in particular form to a targeted region of the nasal passage, such as the turbinates. The device includes a nozzle outlet (28) for the material, supported for example in an outer nozzle (20) which fits the nostril so as not to disrupt non-turbulent flow into the nostril. The particles are released from the outlet (28) into the non-turbulent flow at a similar velocity, in order to follow the airstream. Thus it is possible to predict their likely path, such that preferred release points can be calculated.
