  • Patent number: 7263982
Abstract: In a method of operating a supercharged internal combustion engine in which exhaust gas is retained in the combustion chamber during a charge change, wherein the engine is operated with compression ignition or with spark ignition depending on the operating point and in which a charge pressure can be established for the fresh air supplied to the combustion chamber, and the exhaust gas is compressed during the charge change, and a first fuel quantity is optionally injected into the retained exhaust gas and a second fuel quantity is subsequently supplied to the combustion chamber, such that a homogeneous fuel/air mixture is formed in the combustion chamber, the retained exhaust gas quantity in the combustion chamber is corrected in such a way that the center of the combustion is displaced in the direction toward a set point value when the center of the combustion deviates from the set point value because of a change in the charge pressure of the fresh air or because of a change in the temperature of the fresh ai

  • Patent number: 7263983
Abstract: An electric motor is placed on an upstream side of an exhaust gas recirculation passage of a housing in a direction that is parallel to an intake air flow direction. A first heat release part on a motor housing part of the housing is placed on an upstream side of an exhaust suction aperture in a direction of an intake air flow. A heat release of the electric motor is promoted by direct contact between a new intake air with much lower temperature than an EGR gas and the first heat release part of the motor housing part. Therefore, on the upstream side of the exhaust suction aperture in the direction of the intake air flow, the electric motor can be cooled by the new intake air. By utilizing the intake air suctioned into an inlet port of an engine, the electric motor and the like can be efficiently cooled.

  • Patent number: 7263984
Abstract: A PCV valve assembly including housing having a fluid inlet and outlet. A poppet valve is disposed in the housing between the fluid inlet and outlet and is moveable in an axial direction between a plurality of positions. A heating element having a positive temperature coefficient material is supported in the housing in proximity to at least a portion of the valve for automatically heating the valve in response to a given voltage. The material produces a first heat in response to a first temperature and the given voltage. The material produces a second heat less than the first heat produced in response to the given voltage and a second temperature greater than the first temperature. That is, the positive temperature coefficient material automatically regulates the flow of current and the temperature produced without the need of a thermostat in response to the same voltage.

  • Patent number: 7263994
Abstract: A flow probe for use in a humidification system is positioned in a humidified gases flow such as that which is provided to a patient in a hospital environment. The flow probe is designed to provide both temperature and flow rate sensing of the gases flow by incorporating two sensors into the gases flow. The flow probes are shaved and aligned within the gases flow to enable accurate gas flow readings to be taken whilst reducing the occurrence of condensation on the sensors. The flow probe can also be included in a humidification control systems to provide a patient with a desired humidity level or simplify the amount of user input required to set humidity levels. Furthermore, the flow probe can provide a controller with flow information which may then be used to determine certain conditions that could prove to be dangerous to a patient.

Abstract: A water dispenser assembly includes valve cartridges for controlling the flow of cold water from the cold-water inlet and the spout. Each valve cartridge includes a rotatable stem extending from a body. The water dispenser assembly includes a self-closing feature that provides for the automatic shut-off of flow of hot water responsive to release of the handle. The self-closing feature includes a spring held onto the stem by an adaptor. The self-closing feature is contained entirely within the valve cartridge and therefore does not require any modification to the housing.

  • Patent number: 7264017
Abstract: A regulator valve includes dual actuators that operate according to different principles to position a valve element to either an open or a closed position. One actuator, which is an electromechanical actuator, operates in response to electrical command signals. The other actuator, which is a pneumatic actuator, operates in response to a fluid pressure. The electromechanical actuator is responsive to the electrical command signals to rotate in either a valve open or a valve close direction, to move the valve element to either the open or closed position.

  • Patent number: 7264018
Abstract: A variable device for regulating the outlet pressure of a fluid from a valve body, includes a pressure-sensing chamber having a wall formed by a resilient self-restoring diaphragm which is responsive to pressure in the chamber. A valve element connected to the diaphragm controls flow into the chamber. Increased pressure in the chamber decreases the flow into the chamber and decreasing pressure increases flow whereby fluid flow out from the chamber is maintained at a desired pressure. The outlet pressure is adjusted by deflecting the diaphragm in a direction to open the valve while permitting a section of the diaphragm connected to the valve member to remain responsive to the pressure in the chamber. An adjustment cover is provided to adjustably deflect the diaphragm and includes a catch mechanism to allow adjustment of the fluid outlet pressures and also retain the device at a desired value. An indicator arrangement may be provided to visually indicate the fluid outlet pressure.

Abstract: The hydraulic distributor exhibits a cylindrical and internally-hollow body (2) having an inlet chamber (3) for a fluid and an outlet chamber (4) which are interconnected directly (by a communication conduit), or indirectly by an external distributor. A cursor (7) is axially mobile in the hollow body (2) and a closing element (12) is associated to the cursor (7) by elastic elements (11). The closing element (12) is mobile in the inlet chamber (3) between a first position in which it occludes the inlet chamber (3) and a second position in which it permits passage of fluid from an antechamber (3a) to a second opening (3b).

  • Patent number: 7264020
Abstract: A test fitting for installation in a plumbing system comprises an annular sleeve having opposed first and second open ends and an inner surface that defines an open interior space and a hole. A cord has a first portion removably positioned in the sleeve's interior space and a second portion extending through the hole for removing the cord from the interior space through the hole. The first portion of the cord forms a watertight spiral disc that extends across the interior space to define a first area completely separated from a second area, and an outer edge of the spiral disc may be supported by a ledge extending from the inner surface into the interior space. Means are included for selectively sealing the hole after the cord is withdrawn through the hole, such as a plug complementary to the hole.

Abstract: A shaft rod (2) having, particularly in its mid region, a particularly low mass. The shaft rod has an upper ledge (11) and a lower ledge (12) which have a reduced thickness in the mid region of the shaft rod. As a result, the load induced by acceleration forces is significantly less in the mid region than in conventional constructions. By virtue of the reduced acceleration forces, the extent of bending of the shaft rods in the middle is less and therefore a shaft rod of such a structure is better adapted for use in very rapidly operating weaving machines.

Abstract: A valve for closing a container and for enabling the container to be filled has a housing (20) with an inlet port (30) and an outlet port (40). A closing member (60) is provided for sealingly closing the valve at the inlet port (30). At least one valve member (70) is provided for controlling fluid communication between the inlet port (30) and the outlet port (40). The valve member only allows fluid communication when it is in a first position. The valve member (70) is designed in such a way that it is brought into and maintained in said first position only if a predetermined filling condition is achieved. The filling condition is typically achieved, when the filling pressure of a system for filling the container (50) is initially below a first predetermined or predeterminable threshold value.

Abstract: An oil filler cap with an integrated oil directing funnel. The cap is configurable to fit many automobile makes and models, and is configured to accept the threaded top end of standard quart containers. The integrated funnel is extendible to a fully open position wherein it facilitates replacement of engine oil in a manner preventing spillage onto the engine block and vicinity. Once the outlet of a standard quart container of engine oil is placed into the collapsible funnel to engage the cap structure, the funnel may then collapse to its resting position while passing engine oil from the standard quart container to the engine block. Drainage holes in the cap recapture oil that seeps through or clings to the integrated funnel.
