Abstract: [Problems] In a reduction in fluid pressure pulsation, a large space has been required for liquid expansion and a larger pressure loss has been involved. [Solving Means] A pressure pulsation reducing device has a flow path through which pressure pulsation is transmitted, an inner tube placed in the flow path and constructed so that most part of fluid flowing inside the flow path flows around the inner tube, and small holes provided in the inner tube for expelling jet flows into the flow path by a pressure difference between the inside and the outside of the inner tube. The jet flows are expelled from the inner tube to a contracted flow section provided around the outer periphery of the inner tube to reduce pressure pulsation of the contracted flow section.

Abstract: A passivated film on a surface of a high-alloy steel member makes it difficult to apply diffusion treatment, such as gas nitriding or gas carburizing, that forms a nitrided layer, carburized layer or carbonitrided layer on the surface of the steel member. An activating treatment method is provided for the surface of the metal member. This method is not accompanied by problems of conventional activation treatment with a halide, such as furnace deposits, furnace wall erosion and effluent gas detoxification treatment, and is useful as pretreatment for diffusion treatment. According to this method, the passivated surface of the high-alloy steel member can be activated by using a gas commonly employed in gas heat treatment, and forming HCN gas in a heating furnace while making use of catalytic action of the steel member or a surface of the furnace.

By use of this method, it is possible to recover the degradation in the electric property of an insulating film due to a turnaround phenomenon which can occur at the time of nitriding an Si substrate, etc.

Abstract: A laminating apparatus and a laminating method for finely finishing laminate processing without performing edge processing after the laminate processing is performed to a recording medium. A laminate material having a size larger than that of the recording medium is placed to cover the recording medium, bonded with heat and pressure, and a laminate layer protruding from the recording medium is transferred to a means to be transferred to, which is arranged on an opposite plane side to a recording plane of the recording medium. When the means to be transferred to is arranged apart on the opposite plane side to the recording medium, the laminate layer is pulled into the opposite plane side to the recording medium. As a result, an edge of the laminate layer formed on the recording plane of the recording medium becomes fine, matching with an edge of the recording medium.

The product vapor of the first evaporator stage (1) is fed via a mechanical compressor (67) to a second evaporator stage (3) for heating. The compressor (67) ensures firstly a lowering of the dew point in the evaporator space of the first evaporator stage (1) and secondly a temperature increase of the product vapor fed to the second evaporator stage (3) for heating.

Abstract: A metal alloy is heated to a molten state and then poured into a shallow shot chamber defined by a shot sleeve and a shot piston of a vertical die cast press. A homogenizing member having L-shape arms projecting outwardly from a vertical shaft is inserted into the molten metal, and the shaft and arms are simultaneously rotated and orbited by a six axes robot for moving more solidified semi-solid metal cooled by the shot sleeve and shot piston into a more liquified semi-solid metal within a central portion of the shot chamber to form a homogenizing slurry. The force required to move the homogenizing member is used to determine the solid fraction of the slurry and to stop the homogenizing process after a predetermined force is detected. A hydraulic cylinder actuates the piston to transfer the semi-solid slurry upwardly from the shot chamber into a die cavity.

Abstract: A seal for a continuous casting furnace having a melting chamber with a mold therein for producing a metal cast includes a passage between the melting chamber and external atmosphere. As the cast moves through the passage, the cast outer surface and the passage inner surface define therebetween a reservoir for containing liquid glass or other molten material to prevent the external atmosphere from entering the melting chamber. Particulate material fed into the reservoir is melted by heat from the cast to form the molten material. The molten material coats the cast as it moves through the passage and solidifies to form a coating to protect the hot cast from reacting with the external atmosphere. Preferably, the mold has an inner surface with a cross-sectional shape to define a cross-sectional shape of the cast outer surface whereby these cross-sectional shapes are substantially the same as a cross-sectional shape of the passage inner surface.
