  • Patent number: 7275699
Abstract: A method and a self-contained, mobile dispensing system, wherein the material to be dispensed is formed by mixing several reactants. A generator provides power to the overall system. Storage tanks are provided for storing the reactants. A chiller unit chills the reactants, and a heating unit heats the reactants. The reactants flow separately through the system until they reach a mix head nozzle operative to combine the reactants. The mix head nozzle has an elongated straight cylindrical shape and includes a plurality of orifices oriented to allow mixing of the reactants in a dispense mode of operation. A metering pump controls and supplies the reactants to the mix head nozzle, in stoichiometric proportions and at predetermined temperature and pressure. A hose connects the mixing tank to the mix head nozzle for dispensing the foam in situ.

  • Patent number: 7275711
Abstract: A compound Vertical TakeOff and Landing (VTOL) aircraft. In a specific embodiment, the VTOL aircraft includes a gas-powered tip-jet driven rotary-wing and a fixed-wing that is capable of providing necessary lift to the aircraft during certain forward-flight regimes so that lift from the rotary-wing is not required. This enables slowing of the rotor, thereby reducing drag during forward flight and enabling flight above and below mu-1. Valves and accompanying ducting are employed to control compressed gas flow to the rotary-wing. Various reaction jets are employed for attitude control during VTOL and transition operations. The aircraft further includes a jet exhaust nozzle to provide forward thrust to facilitate forward flight.

  • Patent number: 7275714
Abstract: A system and method for docking an airship to a mooring mast includes a thruster that is mounted to the fore end of the airship. When activated, the thruster generates a thrust vector that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the airship and is selectively directional. In particular, the configuration of the thruster can be changed to vary the direction of the thrust vector around the longitudinal axis to maneuver a connector on the thruster into contact with the mooring mast. Engagement of the connector to the mooring mast then docks the airship to the mooring mast.

  • Patent number: 7275720
Abstract: An apparatus and method for thermal protection is provided. A thermal protection apparatus includes a porous layer attached to an inner structural member requiring thermal protection. The porous layer serves as both a cooling air plenum and a transpiring medium. The porous layer may include a low strength ceramic foam layer. Thermal protection may be achieved by flowing cooling air the length of the porous layer. The voids in the porous layer may be sized to less than 50 ?m, producing uniquely efficient thermal protection due to micro-fluidic effects in the air flowing through the layer. A semi-permeable layer may be attached to the outer surface of the porous layer. The semi-permeable layer may prevent erosion of the porous layer and may transform the porous layer into a plenum by making the majority of the cooling air flow the length of the porous layer before exiting through small holes drilled or punched through the semi-permeable layer.

  • Patent number: 7275722
Abstract: An aircraft comprises a wing tip device, for example a winglet, a raked-tip device, a wing tip fence or a planar wing extension, mounted in the region of the tip of a wing on the aircraft. The wing tip device is rotatably moveable between a first position and a second position, in which the upward lift produced by the wing or the wing tip device is reduced. During flight, the bending moment at the root of the aircraft wing therefore changes in dependence on the position of the wing tip device. The maximum bending moment in the aircraft wing sustained during high-load conditions is thereby reduced, allowing the structural mass of the aircraft to be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7275731
Abstract: A telescopically adjustable support brace is used to hold concrete form work at the proper linear distance during pouring operations. The brace comprises a pair of crossbars and telescoping adjustable arms that are locked by a pin inserted through aligned apertures. At the distal ends of each arm, a serrated cleat for digging into the form wall and prevent slippage. The cleats are connected to the arms by a threaded rod, permitting fine adjustments via mateable threads. The crossbars are connected by a pivot bolt or hinge. When the bolt or hinge is locked in place, the invention forms a horizontally rigid assembly, holding the concrete form walls or other objects apart. • Patent number: 7275733
Abstract: The invention is a compact drive for a counterweight-assisted winch which can be retrofitted into existing manually operated systems that use counterbalancing weights. The counterbalancing weight will be fixed at a first predetermined percentage of the maximum capacity of the set, preferably about 50%. The winch is rated at a second predetermined percentage of the maximum capacity of the set, preferably about 50%. Together the first and second predetermined percentages sum to at least 100% of the maximum capacity of the set. By using the winch in a closed loop configuration, it will operate the set at any load from 0 to 100% of the set's rated capacity, without the need to adjust the counterbalancing weights. The compact drive system employs two motorized winches positioned along the long axis of two adjacent counterweight rigging systems, each winch engaging a respective chain used to move a counterbalancing weight.

Abstract: The invention relates to a support bearing (10) with a damping channel linking a working chamber (11) and a compensation chamber (12), said damping channel being provided with a damping channel orifice (14) that can be opened and closed with a plug (15). Until now, high pressing forces were required to keep the damping channel orifice (14) closed with the plug (15) at peak pressures. The object of the invention is to reduce markedly the pressing forces with which the plug (15) must be pressed against the damping channel orifice (14) at peak pressures. In the support bearing (10) of the invention, the plug (15) can be pressed against the damping channel orifice (14) from the direction of the working chamber (11).

  • Patent number: 7275746
Abstract: The crossword puzzle board game provides for competitive play in the solving of a crossword puzzle by two or more players. Players attempt to solve the puzzle by solving selectively revealed clues determined by a row or column determination die and selection of a row or column selection card. An answer is verified by removing concealing markers previously placed over the solution on a puzzle sheet. Alternatively, the solutions may be optically concealed, with a special viewer allowing them to be viewed. Points are distributed for correct answers according to the order in which the clues are solved; points are deducted for incorrect or misspelled answers. A player may attempt to solve one clue, or to “SNEAK A PEEK” under one marker and receive zero points at his or her turn. The game ends when all clues are answered; stalemates are not possible. The highest scoring player wins the game.
