Abstract: A tool incorporating a device that generates a light line on a work surface such as a wall is disclosed. The device includes a housing containing a self-leveling pendulum assembly and a light source that directs a light beam along a pathway. A redirection assembly, also contained in the housing, is capable of altering the pathway of the light beam prior to exiting the housing. In use, the device selectively generates a light line on the work surface in a desired direction.

Abstract: An improved sighting device is provided. The sight may be used on a bow or other device which is typically sighted on an object during use. The sight includes at least one light-gathering fiber-optic fiber having at least one end from which absorbed light may be transmitted for viewing by a user. The fiber-optic fiber includes an associated element that regulates the amount of light absorbed in inverse proportion to the impinging light intensity in an automatic manner providing a more constant light intensity output.

Abstract: A method is for initializing a position-measuring system for an object movable in at least two degrees of freedom relative to a measuring frame. The position-measuring system includes one position-measuring device per degree of freedom, including a scale having an incremental track for measuring relative positions and an absolute track for measuring absolute positions, as well as scanning heads, assigned to the scales, for reading the incremental tracks and absolute tracks. In an initialization step, the incremental tracks are evaluated using a first evaluation procedure having a large tolerance with respect to the alignment of scanning head and associated scale, and in so doing, approximate absolute positions are determined per degree of freedom. In an alignment step, the movable object is aligned relative to the measuring frame based on the approximate position.

Abstract: An apparatus for determining the angle between two adjacent objects such as the corner of a wall or the pitch of a roof, and the appropriate angle of a corresponding miter cut. The apparatus includes a base member that is configured in a substantially planar manner. The base member includes a channel for slidably receiving the ends of two support members. The support members are pivotally mounted to opposing angle arms that extend laterally in opposing directions from the base member and function to movably connect the angle arms to the base member and form a pointer thereon. The base member further includes numeric indicia that indicate the angle of the angle arms and the corresponding miter angle cut adjacent to the channel on the base member.

Abstract: A femoral gauge for sizing a femoral head implant and locating osteophytes or structural abnormalities comprising a gauge portion, the gauge portion having a concave gauge surface and an opposing back surface, the gauge surface defined by a pair of opposing lengthwise sides and a pair of widthwise sides, the gauge surface having a substantially spherical contour, the spherical contour sized for selection of a correspondingly sized femoral head implant, and a handle portion extending from the gauge portion, the handle portion positioned and configured for use in positioning the gauge surface. A plurality of different sized gauges can be provided. Areas of potential infringement can be located by rotating the femoral gauge around the juncture of the natural or implant femoral head and the natural femoral neck. Areas of impingement are removed until the femoral gauge can be rotated around the juncture without lifting off of the femoral head.

A drive mechanism accomplishes tape extension out of the housing shell, and optionally, tape retraction into the housing shell by engaging with a surface of the measuring tape. An actuator initiates input on one or more switches that selectively control operation of the drive mechanism, and includes a lever arm for a user to make selections regarding tape extension and retraction. The actuator may be arranged such that lever arm motion in a forward direction enables tape extension and lever arm motion in a rearward direction enables tape retraction.

Accordingly, since the fan housing is constituted by coupling the main body and the cover by inserting the coupling member of the cover into the coupling hole of the main body, assembly efficiency can be increased.

A pressure reducing pump exhausts air from the processing chamber to create a reduced-pressure atmosphere in the processing chamber. A drying gas supply passage supplies the drying gas generated in a first drying gas generator and in a second drying gas generator to the discharge pipe. The first drying gas generator generates the drying gas by bubbling IPA liquid stored in a heating bath with nitrogen gas. The second drying gas generator generates the drying gas by mixing IPA vapor produced by evaporation in an IPA vapor generating bath and nitrogen gas together. Thus, the supply of the drying gas generated in the plurality of drying gas generators to the processing chamber increases the concentration of the IPA vapor within the processing chamber. This shortens the time required for drying to improve drying performance.

Abstract: A clothes dryer includes a hollow housing having a hinged door. A perforated drum is mounted for rotation within the housing and in alignment with the door aperture and is rotatable by an electric motor. An electrically operable oil-filled radiator is positioned within a bottom portion of the hollow housing and below the rotating drum and is connectable to a source of conventional household electrical power for generating radiant heat upon supply of the electrical power. The heat rises through the perforated rotating drum for drying wet clothes contained therein. The invention also provides a novel child safety device which is positioned within the door aperture for preventing passage of the child therethrough.

Abstract: An airflow indicator for detecting restricted airflow in a dryer exhaust vent. A lightweight semicircular baffle is placed on a rod inside a vertical exhaust vent and the airflow from the dryer pushes the baffle up in the open (vertical) position. Should the dryer exhaust vent have restricted or nonexistent airflow the baffle is in a closed (horizontal) position. The tab placed on the rod indicates whether the baffle is in an open or closed position.

Abstract: An insole according to the present invention includes an upper layer defining at least one well containing a chemical indicator that gradually changes colors upon exposure to salt or sulfur. The insole includes a lower layer connected to the upper layer that includes an adhesive for stacking multiple insoles together in packaging and for holding the insole in place in a shoe. The insole includes an absorbent material for absorbing perspiration. Perspiration produces salt and bacterial and fungal degradation of keratin skin cells produces sulfur, leading to foot odor. The insole includes fungicide and deodorant for controlling this odor and the color change of the chemical in the well provides a visual indication of when a new insole (with it fungicide and deodorant) needs to be replenished through replacement.

Abstract: An article of footwear having a street shoe configuration and a dance shoe configuration is provided. The shoe includes a sole and an upper having a lacing system, lace and a tongue. The tongue is removably attached to the upper. The tongue may be removed to convert the shoe from a street shoe configuration to a dance shoe configuration. The tongue may also be secured via a lace strung through an apertures formed in the tongue. This configuration provides for easier conversion from street shoe to dance shoe.

One or more of the targets may include directional indicators that indicate the proper direction of foot follow-through after contacting the soccer ball with the corresponding target.

Abstract: A system and method for dewatering an area in which a catch basin is situated within the area to collect water and conduit conveys the collected water to an elongated discharge chamber having a muzzle at a distal end in communication with a desired ouffall body and a substantially closed proximal end. Compressed air released into the proximal end of the discharge chamber forcibly discharges water out of the discharge chamber via the muzzle and into the outfall body to dewater the area. A vent permits escape of air as the discharge chamber fills. Backflow prevention valves maintain discharge out of the muzzle and prevent any water from the outfall body from flowing back into the discharge chamber.

The signaling device is generally configured to display an indicator, such as a flag, in response to a force applied to a fishing line by a fish. At least a portion of the device includes a phosphorescent material. This phosphorescent material emits light in response to a stimulus such as a light source and continues to emit light for time periods ranging from several minutes to several hours following the removal of the stimulus. Inclusion of the phosphorescent material increases the signaling capability as well as the overall visibility of the device in low light conditions.

Abstract: A method includes a burning step, a cleaning step, a drugging step, a covering step, and a sealing step to effectively exterminate insect pests inside and outside an ant mound. Specifically, the ant mound is intermittently burnt with flame to kill the insect pests that run out of the ant mound in batches. The ant mound is then removed to expose outlets of ant channels. Next, pharmaceuticals are placed in and surround the outlets of the ant channels. A container is then placed on top of and covers the outlets of the ant channels. The container is sealed to isolate the interior of the container from the exterior of the container, avoiding leakage of gasified pharmaceuticals and preventing entrance of ambient fresh air into the container. Sunlight transmitting the container gasifies the pharmaceuticals in the container, and gasified pharmaceuticals flow into deep channels to kill the insect pests.

Abstract: A method of creating a multi-phase fuel wherein said fuel comprises a gas, a solid, a liquid solvent phase and an aqueous phase from animal waste comprising the combination of the animal waste, a solvent, and a water/alcohol solution into a fluid mixture, placing the mixture into a closed reactor, heating said reactor between about 245° C. and 385° C. for between about 5 and 70 minutes and cooling said resulting multi-phase fuel. The animal waste may be manure, mortalities, municipal waste, or chicken litter. The preferred solvent is petroleum with the preferred petroleum being diesel fuel. The final multi-phase fuel can be separated into four separate fuels: a solid fuel, an emulsified solid in the liquid solvent phase by blending the solid, the solvent and a surfactant, an aqueous phase, and the recovered liquid solvent phase. Petroleum is the preferred solvent and the separation may be any conventional means. The mixture preferably consists of 1 part by weight animal waste, about 1.

Abstract: A process for the conversion of monocot lignocellulosic grass waste from mushroom growth into byproducts is described. In particular, the present invention releases glucans from the waste which can be easily hydrolyzed, after a less severe thermochemical process (i.e. AFEX), and into sugars for producing ethanol or other by-products by fermentation.
