Abstract: A hybrid design between manual and electric toothbrush technology with a mechanical rotation or manual brushing action. Brush or polishing units on the toothbrush head are rotated and counter rotated many times when activated by a spring loaded lever but when the lever is locked, the toothbrush allows a conventional manual operation. Permutations of rotary or rectangular brush or polishing units can be used on the same head. The brush units consist of bristle clusters surrounded by a ring of elastomeric nodes suspended over a cavity which moulds to teeth contours. The brush unit design is also shown applied to a manual toothbrush handle. The force applied to the lever allows variable rotation, and when slowly rotating, the bristles on the brush units can search into deep contours of teeth and gum surfaces especially at difficult to reach rear corners of teeth, rather than skipping over them at high speed.

Abstract: The invention includes a belt clip for mounting objects to a user's belt. The belt clip has a resilient U-shaped member portion and a hollow hanger member. The resilient U-shaped member portion having an upper end and a lower end with a U-bend portion at the upper end and parallel inner and outer walls extending downwardly from the U-bend. A gap is defined between the inner and outer walls for slidably engaging a belt. The hollow hanger member portion protrudes outwardly from the outer wall of the U-shaped member portion and has a generally downwardly facing wall with an aperture extending therethrough. The aperture provides a means for mounting objects to the belt.

Abstract: A plastics zip for clothing has two mutually engagable male (203) and female (204) zip profiles of generally uniform cross section along the whole or part of their length and merged or demerged within a special slider (115). The slider has two guide slots (116, 117) which join to create a Y-shaped passageway within the body of the slider and side slits (118, 119) to allow the slider to move along the fixed tapes or flanges (108, 109) of the zip profiles. One of the guide slots contains an expansion element (226) which opens the jaws of the female profile allowing it pass over and capture the smaller male profile so that the zip is merged. Movement of the slider in the opposite direction allows the two profiles to be demerged and exit from the slider.

Abstract: A prewinder apparatus attached to a drive tool to install helical coil inserts includes an adapter attached to the drive tool. A rotatable tubular sleeve in the adapter is engaged with the tool drive and has opposed engagement walls of a longitudinal slot extending through a hollow portion. A mandrel has a threaded first end and a pin transversely extending from a second end positioned within the longitudinal slot. A stop slides within the adapter member and rotatably receives the sleeve. The stop has a plurality of external threads. A stop regulator rotatably disposed in the adapter member has internal threads engaged with the stop external threads. The stop is axially displaceable within the adapter member and infinitely positionable along the stop external threads by manually rotating the stop regulator. A ball or male detent member biased to engage detent cavities of the stop regulator provides predetermined stop axial displacement.

Abstract: A temperature tolerant hook and loop attachment, a method of forming a sheet of the hooks and, a method of insulating the skin of a flight vehicle. Temporary loops are formed in a fabric containing temperature tolerant fiber tows, e.g., the tows may be carbon, a metal, a carbide such as carbon silicide, a nitride, or an oxide. The temporary loops are stiffened (e.g., with resin, metal or ceramic), and severed to form temperature tolerant fiber composite hooks. The sheet may be cut and permanently applied, for example, to the skin of a spacecraft or aircraft. A fibrous material, e.g., fibrous insulation or batting, may be pressed in place or formed into the hooks, or the fibrous material may be attached to another structure and pressed in place for a temperature tolerant hook and loop attachment.

Abstract: An indexable insert has one or more recesses formed in a frontside or backside surface which receives a surface of the head of a locking screw. When mounted, the insert is forced against respective support surfaces of an insert pocket. The locking screw is threaded into a counterbored tap hole to engage the insert and provide side locating forces and clamping forces to secure the indexable insert in the insert pocket. More particularly, the indexable insert has a shaped surface recess that mates to a complimentarily-shaped surface on the head of a locking screw and secures the indexable insert in multiple dimensions to a seating surface. A material removal tool and a method of mounting the indexable insert are also disclosed.

Abstract: A substrate, preferably constructed of a ductile material and a tool having the desired shape of the resulting device for contacting contact pads on a test device is brought into contact with the substrate. The tool is preferably constructed of a material that is harder than the substrate so that a depression can be readily made therein. A dielectric (insulative) layer, that is preferably patterned, is supported by the substrate. A conductive material is located within the depressions and then preferably lapped to remove excess from the top surface of the dielectric layer and to provide a flat overall surface. A trace is patterned on the dielectric layer and the conductive material. A polyimide layer is then preferably patterned over the entire surface. The substrate is then removed by any suitable process.
