  • Patent number: 7290565
Abstract: A jet reflector servovalve includes a flexure tube and reflector that opposes a fluid nozzle and fluid receivers of the servovalve. During operation, the nozzle directs a pressurized fluid jet toward the reflector. The pressurized fluid travels within a second stage of the servovalve, toward the reflector. The reflector directs or reflects the fluid back toward the fluid receivers to adjust a position of a spool of the servovalve. The configuration of the reflector, the nozzle, and the receivers allows transmission of the pressurized fluid within the second stage of the servovalve and minimizes the necessity for multiple o-rings between the second stage of the servovalve and a torque motor of the servovalve, thereby reducing manufacturing costs of the servovalve.

  • Patent number: 7290603
Abstract: Downhole plug, especially designed for closing an annular conduit in an oil or gas well, under high pressure and temperature. It has two radially expandable ring elements 13, 15, which are arranged on a carrying cylindrical element 32, between two mutually axially movable pressure elements 12, 14, having an expansion sleeve in between. The ring elements can, by insertion of the downhole plug in a well, be expanded from an inner position, seen radially, to a sealing position against the wall of the well. The radially expandable ring elements 13, 15, comprises a closed series of circumferentially overlapping seal elements 13A, 15 A. By the expanding movement they are mutually moved in the circumferential direction, thereby maintaining a seal against each other. They form an outer sealing surface 38, which can provide a seal against a cylindrical pipe wall, and they have an inwards facing sealing surface 47.

  • Patent number: 7290606
Abstract: Devices and methods for control flow of formation fluids respect to one or more selected parameter relating to the wellbore fluid. In one embodiment, a flow control device for controlling fluid flow into the production tubular uses a flow restriction member that is actuated by a character change of the formation fluid, such as liquid to gas or oil to water. The flow restriction member can be sensitive to a change in density of the formation fluid. The flow restriction member is passive, self-regulating and does not need any power source or control signal to control fluid flow. In one embodiment, the flow control device automatically rotates into a predetermined orientation upon being positioned in the wellbore. A seal disposed on the flow control devices expands into sealing engagement with an enclosure after the flow control device assumed the desired predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 7290610
Abstract: A frac pack system and method for operating a frac pack system wherein an isolation string assembly has a lower circulation valve with lateral flow ports that are operated to an open position without the use of shifters on a wash pipe. The isolation string assembly is incorporated into a frac pack assembly within a wellbore and includes an upper sleeve tool that provides selective production of fluids through the frac pack assembly. In addition, the isolation string includes a lower circulation valve having a sliding sleeve that is shiftable from an open position to a closed position upon receipt of a suitable pressure differential. This configuration is particularly valuable for permitting monitoring of pressure or other conditions in the annulus of the wellbore portion being packed during frac pack operations. Further, the lower circulation valve tool can be used to selectively allow fluid returns during the frac pack operation.

  • Patent number: 7290613
Abstract: A method of servicing a wellbore that penetrates a subterranean formation includes displacing a cement composition comprising an aromatic sulfonated polymer into the wellbore and allowing the cement composition to set. In an embodiment, a transition time of the cement composition is less than or equal to about 60 minutes, alternatively less than or equal to about 50 minutes, less than or equal to about 40 minutes, less than or equal to about 30 minutes, less than or equal to about 20 minutes, or less than or equal to about 10 minutes. Thus, the transition time may be short enough to inhibit a substantial amount of gas migration into the cement composition before it sets. In yet another embodiment, the cement composition exhibits a viscosity that increases from a value of 35 Bc (Bearden units) to about 100 Bc in about 10 minutes or less when the cement composition sets.
