  • Patent number: 7297024
Abstract: A metal-wrapped flash-memory-drive device has an integrated slim Universal-Serial-Bus (USB) connector that fits into a standard USB socket. The slim USB connector has 4 metal contacts on a circuit board that is encapsulated by a plastic case. Components are mounted onto the circuit board. A metal wrap conforms to the general shape of a plastic sub-assembly of the plastic case and a plastic cover that enclose the circuit board. The metal wrap can be bent around the plastic sub-assembly in a forming process, or can be pre-formed into a metal tube that the plastic sub-assembly is inserted into. Alignment holes in the metal wrap can fit over plastic stubs on the plastic sub-assembly, or friction can hold the metal wrap to the plastic sub-assembly. The plastic cover and case can be bonded together by molding, ultrasonically, with adhesive films, or using snaps to form the plastic sub-assembly.

  • Patent number: 7297046
Abstract: The depth of cut and the headstock velocity of a grinding machine are controlled during the last rotation of finish grinding to maintain a substantially constant load on the grinding wheel spindle drive motor. The depth of cut is kept constant and the component speed of rotation is altered in order to maintain the constant power requirement. If the component profile alters the spindle loading during a single revolution, the component speed is altered from one point to another during each revolution so as to maintain the constant load. Headstock acceleration, deceleration, and velocity are controlled to take into account any variation in contact length between the wheel and component during the rotation of the latter, so that although the metal removal rate may vary slightly around the circumference of the component the power demand on the spindle motor is maintained substantially constant during the whole of the grinding of the component.

  • Patent number: 7297055
Abstract: A method of generating a high-level vacuum comprises evacuating a chamber having a substantially-pure gas therein to a medium-level vacuum, and freezing the residual gas to generate the high-level vacuum within the chamber. Impurities, such as atmospheric air, may be purged from the chamber by evacuating the chamber to a medium level vacuum (e.g., around 10?2 Torr) and subsequently filling the chamber with the gas. This purging process may be repeated multiple times to decrease the level of impurities in the gas filling the chamber. The substantially-pure gas may have an impurity-level of less than approximately 100 PPM and may comprise carbon-dioxide, although the scope of the invention is not limited in this respect. The medium level vacuum may range between approximately 1×10?2 Torr and 5×10?2 Torr allowing the use of a roughing pump, and the high-level vacuum may range between approximately 1×10?5 and 1×10?8 Torr.

  • Patent number: 7297061
Abstract: The game controller including at least one control such as a joystick which includes at least two modes of operation. The game controller includes an invert switch which enables a player to switch between the different modes of operation. In one embodiment, the game controller includes a control which has a normal mode and an invert mode. The normal mode enables a player to move the joystick up or forward to correspondingly move up on the game display or move the joystick down or backward to correspondingly move on the game display. Conversely, the invert mode enables a player to move the joystick up or forward to correspondingly move down on the display and also move the joystick down or backward to move up on the display. The game controller enables the player to switch between the different modes of operation on the game controller itself instead of through the video game system or software for the game.

  • Patent number: 7297064
Abstract: A torsional vibration damper, particularly for use in the power train of a motor vehicle, employs one or more preferably arcuate coil springs having constant inner radii and one or more sets of neighboring smaller-diameter convolutions next to one or more sets of neighboring larger-diameter convolutions. The coil spring or springs is or are compressible by the retainers of two components which can turn, about a common axis, with and relative to each other and at least one of which defines a chamber for the coil spring(s). The retainers of the components can act upon the adjacent end convolutions of the coil spring or of two or more series-arranged coil springs between them by way of plastic slide elements and/or elastic bumpers.

Abstract: In a resin joint boot installed on an outer housing having a non-circular outer configuration as in a tripod constant velocity joint, assembling properties of its large-diameter attachment part are improved. The large-diameter attachment part of the joint boot assumes at its outer peripheral face a circular form in cross-section and has on its inner periphery plural lobe portions projecting radially inwardly provided in a circumferentially distributed manner. The large-diameter attachment part is formed, at least in circumferentially one place on its opening edge face, integrally with a tongue-like piece in a projecting manner. And on its inner peripheral face, a faying inner peripheral portion of a smaller diameter than that of the outer housing is provided, and at its opening extremity, an upset inner peripheral portion in a straight hole form of a larger diameter than that of the outer housing is provided on the inner peripheral face.

  • Patent number: 7297068
Abstract: In an embodiment of the invention, a vibration damping shaft of a cue stick comprises a shaft that is configured to form an axially rigid ensemble by mating with another segment of a cue stick. The shaft includes damping material that reduces the vibration of the shaft when a ball strikes the shaft. The damping material may have a density greater than wood. The damping material may be configured as an annular region in the shaft, or in any other configuration that reduces shaft vibration. Damping materials include composites, such as piezoelectric materials, with fibers that are generally aligned to reduce shaft vibration. Another embodiment of the invention utilizes a universal shaft insert, allowing the shaft to fit another segment of a cue stick having a particular joint pin configuration. Features of the a vibration damping shaft may also be incorporated into a cue stick that is not collapsible.

Abstract: A metal wood golf club head adapted for attachment to a shaft, comprising of a body portion and a crown portion, each portion constructed of a different density material. Combining a high-density material in the body portion, with a low-density material in the crown portion, creates an ultra-low center of gravity relative to the geometric face center, resulting in higher launch angles and spin rate ratios. The material for the crown portion is preferably a composite. A vibration dampening gasket is disposed between the ledge and lip sections of the body and crown respectively.

  • Patent number: 7297073
Abstract: A weight interchangeable golf putter is provided having a T shaped head. The head has a main body constituting the main weight and a striking face. From the trailing edge of the top surface a center tail extends rearward to form the T shape of putter plane. At the sides of the tail there are formed end fins with their free ends opened rearward to better guide the putter head through the air during the stroking address. The top of the back weight extends to near midway of the length of the tail and merges with the bottom of the tail. The back weight has a bottom surface in flush with the corresponding bottom of the main body and terminates with an end wall tapered gradually toward the main body to avoid hitting the ground when strokes are made. Three cylindrical bores are formed facing the same backward direction in the common 90-degree angle from the rear wall to receive different metal screws.
