  • Patent number: 7299999
Abstract: An improved rotating stream sprinkler of the type having a rotatable spray head with an offset nozzle port through which a water stream is projected outwardly, resulting in a reaction force for rotatably driving the spray head to sweep the water stream over a surrounding terrain area. The spray head is rotatably mounted on a body adapted for connection to a pressurized water supply, with interengaging bearing components providing predetermined friction brake torque resisting spray head rotation. By appropriately designing the nozzle port area and offset geometry, drive torque and brake torque is maintained at a substantially constant ratio for relatively slow and substantially constant spray head rotational speed over a range of normal water supply operating pressures. A downthrust spring retains the bearing components in engagement when the water supply is turned off, but does not contribute to friction brake torque when the water supply is turned on.

Abstract: A porous polymeric membrane formed from a blend of a polymeric membrane forming material, such as polyvinylidene fluoride or polysulfone and a polymeric reactivity modifying agent adapted to modify the surface active properties of the porous polymeric membrane. The reactivity modifying agent is preferably a linear polymeric anhydride, such as poly(alkyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride). The surface activity modifications include modification of the hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity balance of the membrane, or hydrolysis followed by reaction with a polyamine to form a crosslinked polyamide layer. Such modified membranes have use as reverse osmosis membranes.

Abstract: A mounting bracket is provided for mounting to an opening in a wall. The mounting bracket is for an electrical box or electrical device such as a switch, plug or fire alarm for mounting the electrical box or device to a wall without the need for an additional mounting structure. The mounting bracket includes a central opening for receiving the electrical device. At least two legs are integrally formed with a face plate of the bracket and bent perpendicular to the face plate to extend into an opening formed in the wall. A pivotal arm is mounted in each leg and coupled to a screw for limited pivotal movement to pivot the arms between a first retracted position and a second extended position to attach the mounting plate to the wall. The screw is rotated to draw the arm toward the face plate to contact the inner surface of the wall and draw the face plate into contact with the outer surface of the wall.

Abstract: A flat panel display wall mounting system includes a wall plate assembly connected to a flat panel display mounting rack assembly. The wall plate assembly and the mounting rack assembly are able to be separated to facilitate mounting on a wall. Specifically, the wall plate assembly may mounted on a wall and leveled, while the mounting rack assembly may be attached to a flat panel display while still on the ground. The flat panel display may then be hung on the wall plate assembly. A pitch assembly is provided to adjust the pitch of the flat panel display once hung on the wall plate assembly. A pin connection mechanism is provided to enable the mounting rack assembly to be pivoted out from the wall plate assembly so that the rear area of the flat panel display may be accessed for servicing while the flat panel display is mounted on the wall mounting system.

  • Patent number: 7300034
Abstract: A compensation device for a valve compensates for expansion of a valve stem and/or inertial effects during operation of the valve. The compensation device is preferably integrally provided with the valve. The compensation device includes a first plate rigidly connected to the body of the valve and a second plate movably coupled to the first plate. The second plate is rigidly coupled to the operator assembly housing that houses and controls the movement of the second end of the valve stem, so that movement of the second plate relative to the first plate moves the operator assembly relative to the valve body to compensate for expansion of the valve stem and/or inertial forces. The first plate and second plate remain in radial alignment during the relative movement. One or more biasing elements, such as spring assemblies, are used to connect the first plate and the second plate to bias the plates in a default position, absorb forces and allow for movement of the second plate relative to the first plate.
