Publication number: 20080035270Abstract: A tubesheet is formed at the end of a module containing polymeric material for gas separation, by immersing the end of the module in an epoxy material, or its equivalent. A vacuum, or partial vacuum, applied at or near the opposite end of the module, tends to draw the epoxy material towards the source of the vacuum, and results in a tubesheet having a desired thickness, even though the epoxy material may have relatively high viscosity. The method produces effective tubesheets, while minimizing the degree to which the tubesheet covers the otherwise useful surface area of the polymeric material. The method thus produces gas-separation modules having enhanced productivity.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2007Publication date: February 14, 2008Applicant: GENERON IGS, INC.Inventors: Frederick L. Publication number: 20080035286Abstract: A non-compression vessel, such as a digester, is employed for the chemical preconditioning of the chips followed by a fiberizing device to break the preconditioned chips down to fiber bundles, which are then washed before a high consistency chemical treatment. The digester may be one such as used in conventional chemical pulping of wood with or without screens for the extraction of chemical. If extracted this chemical could be recirculated to the digester with treatment in the circulation loop such as heating or the addition of dilution or other chemicals. This digester may be hydraulic or vapor phase (that is contain a vapor space within the digester), and operate in either a continuous or batch fashion. This digester allows for the discharge of material without the use of a screw mechanism. The temperature control mechanism includes a temperature sensor for sensing the temperature of the metal cast, and a heat source and cooling device for respectively heating and cooling the metal cast in light of the temperature of the metal cast. A control unit determines if the temperature of the metal cast is within a predetermined range and controls the heat source and cooling device accordingly. The heat source may double as a cooling device or the cooling device may be separate from the heat source.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2006Publication date: February 14, 2008Applicant: RMI Titanium CompanyInventors: Kuang-O Yu, Frank P. Publication number: 20080035300Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for driving support rollers (7c) on a continuous casting machine for molten metals, in particular, for molten steel materials, comprising a strip guide (7) of electrically-driven individual drive support rollers (7c) or hydraulically adjustable strip support roller segments (9) for the improvement of a load equilibration control (12), whereby a total drive moment for all drives (10), determined from the normal force of the driven drive support rollers (7c) is proportionately transmitted to each drive support roller (7c) and a static base setting for the torque distribution is used as the basis for the load capacity of each drive support roller (7c).Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2005Publication date: February 14, 2008Inventors: Holger Beyer-Steinhauer, Axel Weyer, Karl Hoen

Publication number: 20080035301Abstract: A process and system for manufacturing metal strips of 0.14-20 mm thickness and metal sheets of 10-100 mm thickness from slabs of thickness between 30 and 300 mm by continuous casting of the bow type. The slab upon casting is fed without discontinuity directly to the rolling step after heating in an induction furnace without any intermediate product. The rolled flat product is withdrawn as sheet upon controlled cooling, by means of cutting and withdrawal device or wound on a reel to form a coil of a continuous strip severable by cutting device downstream of a cooling system. Surface cooling devices can be provided between rolling stands. The feed speed from continuous casting to the end of rolling is increasing step by step in relation to the thickness reductions and the quality of the end product, with regulation in cascade to the downstream direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 7, 2005Publication date: February 14, 2008Inventor: Giovanni Arvedi

Publication number: 20080035302Abstract: Twin roll casters for casting thin steel strip comprise cooled casting rolls mounted on carriers. One roll is fixed and the other is moveable laterally and biased toward the other roll by carrier drive units acting on the moveable roll carriers. A casting pool of molten steel is supported on the rolls which are rotated to produce a solidified steel strip delivered downwardly from the nip therebetween. A gap is regulated between the rolls such that unsolidified molten metal passes through the nip between the solidified shells of the forming strip and solidifies below the nip. The carrier drive units are effective to apply to the biased roll substantially intermediate biasing forces such that the roll separation force at the casting rolls is regulated to a value between 2 and 4.5 Newtons per millimeter.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 9, 2006Publication date: February 14, 2008Applicant: NUCOR CORPORATIONInventor: Jim Edwards

Publication number: 20080035303Abstract: An expansion tank comprising a bladder style water storage tank and method of use. The expansion tank includes an alarm module to sense a flooded tank condition. The system also has the ability to sense a bladder over-extended condition. The expansion tank use includes a sonic alarm and/or a visual alarm and is used in combination with a boiler or related hot water system. Method steps using the described design are also included. The hydro-pneumatic expansion tank has important utility in HVAC, boiler and potable water systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2006Publication date: February 14, 2008Inventor: James Fuller

Publication number: 20080035304Abstract: A device for heating a fluid for use in carpet cleaning is provided. Specifically, the device routes a source of exhaust toward and/or around a heat exchange chamber to heat a fluid in a controlled manner. The fluid may be heated to a maximum amount when the full amount of exhaust is flowed through the heat exchange chamber. The fluid may not be substantially heated when the exhaust is flowed around the heat exchange chamber through an exhaust bypass. The fluid can also be heated to an intermediate amount by flowing some, but not all of the exhaust through the heat exchange chamber and the rest of the exhaust through the bypass.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2006Publication date: February 14, 2008Applicant: CASTLE ROCK INDUSTRIES, INC.Inventors: MICHAEL JAMES RODEN, RONALD WAYNE WILLIAMS

Publication number: 20080035305Abstract: The invention relates to a device for heat exchange, said device comprising a flow device and a collection and/or distribution device connected to the flow device at a connection point. The flow device has a pre-determined length and a flat tubular cross-section, and a fluid under a high pressure, for example an operating pressure of approximately 125 bar, flows through the same. Said flow device has a linear course over the entire length thereof, along a longitudinal axis thereof. The long side of the flat tubular cross-section of the flow device is approximately between 5 mm and 6.1 mm, and is at an angle of approximately 90°, at the connection point, in relation to a main direction of extension of the collection and/or distribution device.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2005Publication date: February 14, 2008Inventor: Gerrit Wolk
